In 2021 JoArt done my son's HS senior photos - at that time they done a beautiful job and I was very happy how they turned out. Fast forward to 2025 - my daughter's senior photos - completely the opposite. First off, all the students had to wear the same "costume" - provided by the photo studio - for the girls it was some black wrap around pashmina type of garment. Would have been find if they also had the option to bring an outfit or two of their own choosing- after all parents are paying a VERY HIGH PRICE for these photos. The poses they had the kids do were pretty awful as well. Fast forward about 2 months when proofs finally come - to begin with they are entirely covered in their logo - having a few of their logo to protect their copyright is fine, but couldn't even see the kids faces, making picking photos for an extremely OVERPRICED package very difficult. The package I got cost me over $600 + an additional fee for retouching (i think $20)- this included only 4 8x10 images, 4 5x7s, and 10 wallets. I also ordered a set of digital images - I think it was 2 images with retouching for $200 plus tax - and trying to download the images from the third party app they use (took two weeks for the digital images to be ready btw) was very difficult to use - and I'm pretty tech savvy. Took another 2 months for the printed photos to arrive - and for the price I paid, I was extremely disappointed in the quality. I spoke to other parents within the district and two other districts who also contracted with JoArt for the 2025 pictures and they all expressed the same disappointment in the quality, package size and price of the photos. If your child's school is using JoArt for photos, I recommend you only allow their photo be taken for the yearbook (another disappointment- in the past students could choose their own yearbook photo, this year JoArt chose it for them) and go somewhere else for the photos you want printed - you'll save money and get better pictures that way. read more

Jo- Art is who I hired to photograph our wedding . I was a little worried because of some negative reviews written about school pictures, but I'm so happy we ended up booking them! I found Jo- Art through word of mouth. A friend of a friend worked for this company and that's why we booked after my friend spoke highly of them! Gil is the owner and he shot our engagement photos and wedding along with his photographer. Gil is funny, entertaining, and cool as a cucumber. He took beautiful pictures and captured some really amazing moments . He made us and our families feel comfortable. We had so much fun on the day of wedding and he and his partner did a great job. Our thank you cards came out amazing as well. Would use Jo- Art again for sure! read more

Horrible photos year after year. School and sports photos are horrible. Zero time taken to be sure that the child has the right pose And no choice of photos. One and done. Sports photos have horrible backgrounds and lighting. Very disappointed. read more

The problems that I have with this company are that they have confusing ordering system for their photos and their OUTRAGEOUS PRICING. While ordering the pictures I wanted the yearbook picture and an additional pose thats what I thought I was getting. Instead I was charged $15 dollars to change the pose from the yearbook photo to the cap and gown photo instead of getting two poses I paid $103.00 for 3 4x6 photos of my daughter. When I called the office to ask what happened the girl that answered the phone became condescending when I was asking her questions about the package I bought. I asked to speak with the manager and after being placed on hold for a while I had a conversation with the OWNER and he explained the how the ordering worked. I questioned him on a retouching fee and he told me that he retouched the photos but there was no change from the proof, they didn't even fix the scar on one of my daughters eyebrows. He offered to "retouch" the photos at my expense. I asked him I would prefer that he send me 3 other 4x6 photo's because thats what I thought I ordered and became rude when he didn't want to that. After our conversation I told him I wasn't happy with the service and I asked him if he had a yelp account for his business and he out right LIED to me. I guess this Yelp review wont exist Then. My Review is a big fat 0. My daughter is a Senior at CHS. Yesterday, she came home very upset about they way she was treated during her photo ID pictures. She said the photographer was screaming at everyone and he got right up in her face, so close he was spitting on her with his finger close to her face. He was upset because the senior girls were putting their hair in crazy ponytails etc. Seriously? There are 70 of us parents talking about the same thing happening to their kids yesterday. While I appreciate the fact that the ID is for security reasons, was that reason enough to be so rude and disgusting? If my daughter goes missing (as he put it), am I going to go hunting for her school ID to put on the milk carton? This was not the first encounter I've had with this man. When her senior portraits were done in the summer, he was saying some inappropriate things and I let it go. My son also had his senior portraits taken a few years ago by this man and even back then I thought his humor was not the least bit funny. What is this behavior teaching our children. Anyone who knows my daughter will tell you that she is not a trouble maker nor does she ever act out or is disrespectful. She has never been in detention for any reason. So they were messing around with their hair, they are seniors, this is supposed to be the best year of their school career and they were making memories. They are not selling drugs, they are not sticking needles in their arm, it was harmless fun. Period the end. I have called JoArt and spoke to the photographer himself. Instead of an apology, he was rude and combative with me! I told him I would spend the money and take out a full page ad in Newsday to let everyone on Long Island know how unprofessional he is. He said his lawyer would have a field day with that and hung up on me. I would strongly suggest this company is not used. read more

I was excited to have my daughter take her graduation pictures. The amount of poses always seems excessive but I went with it, hoping I would love them. When I received the proof they were nothing spectacular. The serious pose was a waste of time and pictures. Then the packages for senior portraits are so unbelievably expensive for amateur looking pictures. I probably could have done better with my iPhone and some natural lighting. Really disappointed. Look forward to taking my own pictures that I can edit and print for a fraction of the price. read more

They took pics for middle school and I guess I ordered digital by accident so I tried correcting it because why the hell would I pay 60.00 then pay to have them printed.Called them 6 or 7 times no call back got a guy on phone who said they would get back to me but never did i'm still waiting it's over 2 weeks since I talked to them.The customer service is terrible.I would never recommend them for anything,i hope Sachem schools finds someone new for Sr pics next year. read more

I highly recommend JoArt Photography to anyone interested in obtaining truly well executed photographs which capture the beauty of any special occasion. On a personal note, I was most grateful to find that they had my daughter's prom photos from 2013. Not many studios can boast of retaining photos for that length of time! The owner Gil is incredibly nice, helpful and accommodating. His beautiful photographs are exhibited in several different mediums such as traditional paper, canvas and tin (which was unique and gorgeous) and are displayed throughout the warm and inviting studio. read more

Gil has got to be the rudest, most unprofessional man. My daughters school used him for senior portrait and I cannot explain the anger I feel for what he said and how he treated her. Someone needs to give him some manners and learn how to speak to his clients and people in general. read more

Perhaps this photographer takes a few good pictures, but I have not experienced any. This photographer took school pics at my daughter's elementary school. Last year's were horrible, so they set up an appt for my daugher at their studio. Spent an hour getting my daughter ready and...nobody was at the studio. It was closed. So I hired a pro (Ray Foster--AWESOME), and he took stunning pictures. This year's picture featured my daughter not smiling. I had her do a retake. The new picture came home today. SHE IS WEARING HER PINK FLEECE JACKET ZIPPED UP TO HER CHIN. (I won't even get into how he used the wrong color background.) Who takes pics like that? That would be Jo-Art. Apparently the pics were taken first thing in the morning. She didn't even have time to take off her jacket before the retake. He tried to blame the two PTA moms who didn't tell her to take off her jacket. Then he said his son wears a fleece all the time. Um, yeah, I don't think zipped up to his neck, and definitely not for picture day! He said he is not to blame. I say he is. He said he did 22 retakes that morning. Surely he could have spared a few seconds to mention to the PTA moms that perhaps they could help her take her jacket off. So he offered to have me come to his studio. He already has FOUR failed attempts under his belt. Not interested in a fifth. Hired the same pro that I used last year. I know he will do a beautiful job. What a shame that such important pictures are taken by someone who doesn't seem to care how they come out. read more
