Exactly as it should be; great and soulful outer borough Italian cooking, with friendly staff, quick service and low prices. We fed both our two kids and the grandparents, with everyone happy and satisfied. They passed the chicken parm test, with perfect thin cutlets, good red sauce and not drowned in cheese. Perfecto. Very disappointed. We first walk in and order, and the person behind the counter says, "Pick up the food at the counter, I'm not going to be looking for you", in a very aggressive tone. We order two slices each and 6 knots. The slices were good, but the ones with pepperoni seemed sloppily put together and messy. The knots were bad, as you can only taste the olive oil. Stopped by for a late lunch on the way home from Saratoga. Didn't interact too much with staff, but pizza was good. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was tasty. My 5 year old enjoyed feeding the goats while we waited for our pizza. I'd definitely stop again. read more

Being from Buffalo, our standards for a pizza are high. That said, the pizza wasn't the best and wasn't worst we've ever had. My biggest issue was the sauce. It was so bland and almost tasteless. Adding some spices and flavor to the pizza sauce would be a game changer. This is also a thinner type crust (different then Buffalo style) but the crust was still fluffy and pretty good. I do have to mention the pepperoni they use was really good, however, the meatball topping was awful. Unlike other comments, we did not experience any issues with the people who worked here, the guy (I'm thinking the owner) was super nice and actually really funny. He was joking around with my son. The pizza here has a lot of potential, just needs a few minor adjustments. read more

Authentic New York pizza in the middle of the country in upstate New York. The pizza was nice and fresh, crispy thin crust, nice flavor. Even the fountain drinks tasted good, just like back home. It's also a family-run place, friendly folks from Queens, so everything about this place is authentic (except for the location, I guess!). I may not find myself in that area too often, but I would certainly go back if I do find myself up in the Ancram area. read more

Stopped in for a slice of pizza (to share) with my fiancé on our way home from upstate. The owner went nuts when I asked him to cut it in half. He was annoyed that we used his restroom and didn't "patronize" his store more than just buying one slice. He was rude and nasty...AND his young kids were behind the counter with him. Great Pizza! 5 stars I am a Courier delivering packages around the North East with Valley Courier, NY, and dropped off a package south of Albany, NY, and was driving home to Poughkeepsie, NY. I was hungry and thought I'd stop for something to eat, and remembered a Pizza place that was on the way home near the Taconic Parkway entrance. Thought I'd try it. I talked to the Pizza guy and couldn't make up my mind: a Hogie or slice. Carlo, the Pizza Guy, suggested a slice. Boy was it great! The cheese was delicious and the sauce was just right. I am always worried about the quality of cheese. But, Jojo (Carlo's brother, walked in) and said it was the best. He was right. I ordered another slice. The crust was fantastic and just right. The sauce and cheese of Jojo's pizzaria, is better than some I eat around the Northeast. Hudson Valley is lucky to have such a great pizza. The owner is outrightly rude. Rather than be bothered to label his product or look up while taking your order, his choice is to be snarky and facetious. He will never have a dollar of my money and I do not recommend eating the food from someone who doesn't enjoy his trade or people. Run by 2 brothers who know how to make NYC pizza. Good people, good food, clean, and have gluten free options which I greatly appreciate. Eggplant parm, salad, lentils, pizza, and pasta all excellent. Outside dining is an option. Wish I lived closer but will drive 20 minutes to reach them even though there are closer pizzerias to my home. Don't forget to leave room for ice cream. read more

Surprisingly, this place had some delicious pizza! The tomato sauce was very tasty, and mozzarella cheese very fresh. They don't have a big selection tho. For a quick stop on your way back to the city or to Catskills - this is a perfect place to grab a bite. Will be coming back !!! read more

This place has the best pizza! It is amazing with thin crust and great sauce and cheese. The subs are great too. This is probably my favorite pizza place I have ever been to. The cashier that served me my pizza was very rude, the pizza tasted like my eight year old son cooked it in a E-Z Bake Oven. The sauce had a taste as if it were store bought, the Stromboli was flavorless and very expensive prices. The fact I felt sick afterwards made my experience that much worse. read more

have not ordered here since two years ago.. ordered for subs for my father's birthday, all with cheese which cost $1 extra each.. we went to eat and as my father is taking his first bite he pulled a hair out of his sub. of course it had to be my father who is so grossed out by hair in his food, plus it was his birthday.. too bad it wasn't my husband because he's used to hair in his food from his darling wife haha.. the rest of us continued to eat but were surprised it didn't seem like there was any cheese on the subs.. I had ordered and I know I said cheese plus we were charged for it.. we decided to call and let them know about the hair in the food and the missing cheese.. we were met with such attitude, in a very sarcastic voice whoever answered the phone I assume it to be the owner said "I'll let the chef know" and hung up.. no I'm sorry about that why don't you come in and grab another sub for your father? never in my life have I been treated this way as a paying customer at a restaurant.. have resisted going there since because of this incident and we used to order every week.. well now I am pregnant and having cravings and I contemplated ordering again.. until I came on Yelp and read the most recent reviews about the racism and how the owner blatantly humiliated the husband and wife with their soup.. and that made my mind up I will never ever go there again!! who wants to patronize a place that does business like that? read more

Let me first start off by saying that anyone reading this review should seriously listen to me and not pay attention to any of the bad reviews they read about this pizzeria. All the bad reviews that I have read should do me a favor and write their opinion on a piece of toilet paper so I can wipe my ass with it and then flush it. I have had some good pizza in my lifetime however, Jo Jo's absolutely hands down has the best pizza I have ever had in my life. The crust, the sauce everything to die for. Finally I have found a place that knows how to make pizza the right way! The service too is very friendly, a great bunch of guys that couldn't be any nicer:) I could go on and on with this review with all the great things I have to say but I would be here typing for a long time, so I will end this with saying in my opinion if you are going to walk into any place with a bad attitude and be demanding about the service and complain about the food and act like an idiot you deserve to be treated with no respect, people like this ruin the reputation of great restaurants its a shame. read more
