This is a nice big store. They seem to have just about everything I want. They frequently send 50% off coupons, and take other stores coupons. I want to like it. But... There are always huge lines. The lines are channeled through the middle aisle of the store so as soon as you walk in you can see the long lines. It makes it depressing to shop here, and you have a built-in expectation that you will be stuck in line forever just to get a piece of craft wood or a bottle of paint. I don't know the solution, but I suggest not coming here in November or December at all unless you enjoy standing around. read more

So this is not just the biggest fabric shop in the area, with crafty stuff equivalent to a full Michael's, and the usual spate of seasonal items, it's also probably the best selection of creative Kid craft projects and toys I've found. This makes it a great destination for birthday and Christmas shopping for those who might want to encourage a little creative activity over the usual consumptive plastic/electronic crap most kids are inundated with. Needless to say, one-stop Halloween costume-making shopping at this time of year. The store just goes on and on and on, and while the help I got from staff was a little hit or miss, the "sewing support" appears to be very good. And unlike Michael's, they've got a single-checkout lane/multiple cashiers station. Serious downgrades for location in the traffic-nightmare Northway Mall, but if you can get there off-peak, or you can wait through 40-car backups at the light (I counted; I had time to count, because there were 40 cars in front of me in a snaking curve) then perhaps this won't matter so much. read more

I am a long time customer...95% of the time, I am waiting forever to have fabric cut, then again to pay for my items. Fabric cutting counter: -needs more staff -staff needs to pick up the pace - our fabric does not need to be folded perfectly, or into teeny tiny squares. Scissors should not have to be placed back into apron every time you move the fabric. -make sure measurement is correct - have previously discovered that my entire order was shorted and completely affected my projects Check-out: -needs more staff -needs to pick up the pace - i don't need comments on my purchases, keep the conversations quick and friendly -needs to be knowledgeable on current coupons -if there is a long line (which there usually is) call for backup immediately This store has a great selection of fabric and supplies, but I am never here less than an hour because I spend so much time waiting. read more

I can vouch for all the the awful customer reviews on here. This store either lost my order, never made it, gave my order to someone else, or someone took it home. No explanation, didn't even attempt to give any help at all, just that my order was gone. The lady who picked up my phone call was unprofessional and unhelpful. read more

I have never had anything but horrible experiences at this location. Years ago when I was a substitute teacher because I couldn't find a full time teaching position I was ridiculed by management and told I was not a "real teacher" even when I provided copies of my teaching certification. Now that I am and have been a gainfully employed teacher my ID is constantly questioned as to the validity of it. Really nice staff but staff doesn't know a thing. Upholstery section, no clue, asked for foam, they look at you funny. I think the people here could really use a orientation once they are hired or management can enlighten them. I did love the selection and they almost got 5 stars because it was an awesome store with everything stocked... because we did find everything we came in to look for and checkout was very fast, I am giving the four stars. Seriously? How do they stay in business with such horrible customer service? Must be because there are so few craft stores in the area with the selection of this JoAnns. If you are a sewer, like me, it's really the only game in town for fabrics. But honestly. I'm here on a Saturday afternoon and there are 2 fabric cutters staffed (I took a number And waited nearly half an hour) - only to then proceed to a checkout line that snakes through the store. 3 cashiers working and no help in sight. If you are looking for something specific while shopping ( I had a hard time finding 1/8 inch cord) and you'd like assistance, you are out of luck! While waiting on a long line, it became hard not to notice how filthy the store was, too. Corporate needs to step up and question the management of this locale. We'd love JoAnns to stay, but please manage properly. On a good note, the staff here is friendly. Though it seems having dirty stringy hair dyed to a color not found in nature helps one get hired at this location. I'm frustrated, can you tell? read more

The Joann stores have really been promoting online ordering with pickup - I've had good results with other chain stores, so thought I'd try it. I put an order in yesterday (Sunday) evening and called them almost 24 hours later, as I hadn't received a confirmation. I used my 20% off purchases after waiting for 1hr to get my fabric cut, then 35 minutes in line to then learn that my fabric was A DOORBUSTER and did not qualify for the discount. Of all my years of coming to this Joanns, today I've seen it all. Workers having to work around a major ceiling leak risking their own safety. This is the last time I waste my time and energy trying to purchase something from this store. I have to drive 40 minutes from my home to come here and when I am done shopping I have to wait no less than 20 minutes regardless of the line to check out. I can honestly say that this store has an enormous collection of fabric but that's where it ends. I went in today to get a few things and look at the fabric choices. After walking around the store I decided to pick up the items I came into the store to purchase. One of the items was plain white thread. Simple enough, right? Between the two different thread companies that they carry, there as not one spool of white thread! I. Sorry but how can this store be a fabric store when there is not ONE spool of white thread in the entire store. Don't waste you time. Go to Hobby Lobby or Walmart. This is a large chain offering competitive prices for crafting, sewing supplies and lesser quality fabrics. They offer coupons in the mail and online. What they don't offer, at least at this location, is customer service. I called ahead as I was on a road trip and would be going out of my way to get here, to see if they had what I was looking for. I was assured they did and when I asked, is it in stock I was told a resounding YES! Upon rerouting myself and arriving at the store, not only did they not have these tools, they had done away with everything for the entire craft! Not only disappointing and a waste of my time, but poorly trained staff. For a large chain they need to look at how they train their staff. This is not then only location I found poorly trained. I hadn't shopped at one of these in a number of years. I think I will return to only shopping at my local mom and pop shops and online. read more

I called the store this morning to find out if they had items in stock that I wanted to purchase. It took me 2 calls to get to talk to a person, and when I did neither person I talked to was friendly or helpful. I decided to take my chances and drive to the store this afternoon to see if they had what I was looking for. The store was cluttered. Stacks of unopened crates were in many of the aisles. I could not find any of the items I was looking for, even though online it said there were a least a few in stock. The store seemed to be understaffed. There were LONG lines at the fabric table and the check-out. I ended up having to order my items online and pay an exorbitant express shipping fee in order to get the items in time for when I need them. I will likely not shop at JoAnn Fabric again. read more

The service was impeccable! I'm very impressed for how this fabric store is able to stay open! They have everything you need but they have the worst customers. The woman who recently posted, Yvonne H. Seemed like a stuck up, acting like she was entitled to the best of the best. I could not bare to listen to her openly talk about the review she wanted to write. She complained about the floors??? I'm sorry how about you polish the floors and pick them up after 200 customers walk in on a busy weekend and tell me how easy it is. She complained about how one person had colored hair, that is not anything that effects her which proves how entitled and stuck up this woman truly is. She say there with her daughter and treated everyone badly, I treated everyone with kindness, I got a bunch of coupons from my cashier, what did she get? She sat there all high and mighty. If you are in a hurry, don't stop at a store on a weekend. She needs to be taught some manners. She also posted pictures of people without permission, including me! I went in looking for 1.25" black D Rings. The online app said there were 8 in stock. When I got there I could not find them and the employee would not help. So I went home and ordered them on line for instore pickup. Then went back the next day, and what they had pulled was 1" silver. The cashier went back to try to find the right ones. She could not. This took probably 10 minutes during which time there was only 1 cashier working and the line backed up. Then someone else came (the same unhelpful one from the day before) who said the other cashier would have to go through all the totes in the back and it would take several hours and I could step aside and wait. I asked them to be mailed to me and she said no. I then asked who pulled the order only to learn it was the assistant manager! Apparently she paid no mind to what I ordered - just put something in the bag. I made a comment about my paying for the asst. manager's carelessness and the other cashier, said to me "well nobody's perfect". I thought that was uncalled for. At this point it had been close to 20 minutes and one of the customers in line started to yell at me for holding up the line. It was not MY fault - This woman who claimed she was in charge should have gotten one of the employees walking around the store to come run a register. The employees did nothing to quiet down this customer then several others started yelling at me too. The first one called me an entitled bitch. Then my husband got angry. Never once did any of the employees apologize for the error or offer to make anything right or ask the other customer to watch his language. We left - but I will never shop at Joann's Northway Mall again. This used to be a decent store but the service has really gotten bad and stock is low so I do not recommend it. This store is absolutely filthy! I HATE that it is the main game in town. What I wouldn't give for some healthy competition. I've received incorrect advice, a special order home dec fabric that came in 2 cuts when it should've been whole and waited forever for help by an associate. this is not Jo-Anns best location, employees tend to be holyer then tho and unwilling to work to fix things, the store is super clean but things in each department are disorganized and tend to get moved into the wrong basket thus showing the wrong price, the books section is a complete mess. also don't bother calling to see if something is carried or even in stock they tend not to even go and look and will give a random answer is you call and ask. read more
