Ordered 2 identical items for delivery this morning. One received new. One was obviously used, as the package had a broken seal. When opened, I found a severely damaged product that was obviously taken from a return bin and sold to me as new. This has happened to me before with Home Depot. It's nice to have a few Home Depots within a few minutes of each other, because each one has a slightly different inventory. This one has a better springtime inventory than the one on Washington Avenue. I found this one to be better laid out and better stocked than the other. I came to this store because the other Home Depot on Washington Ave., near Wal-mart, didn't have what I needed. Compared to the other Home Depot, this Central Ave Home Depot, was fully-stocked with everything I needed. There were MANY more staff members around than at the other store, and they were eager to help me. And when I went to check out my order, the women behind the service desk were very detail-oriented and went above and beyond to complete the transaction. I special ordered some hardware online and mistakenly had it sent here instead of my local Home Depot. So, I came here one evening to pick up by items as well as walk around and get a few other things. There were a ton of employees walking around and talking, so I don't know if they expected a crowd that night or not. I asked someone for help and he sort of knew the area (he directed me to three aisles) and I eventually found it on my own. Just as I went up to the customer service desk to collect my special order, the power went out. Apparently, an entire section of Central Avenue went black. The store's emergency generators came on within about 20 seconds but they couldn't use the computers to locate my special order. The woman behind the counter dug around and finally found it. This must happen a lot as she was completely unfazed by it though other employees didn't know what to do (I heard one ask "should we still let people in?") Her phone kept ringing too but for at least a minute but she didn't notice it until I pointed it out to her. It was a weird experience standing in a dark Home Depot. read more

The two female associates who were working the paint counter today left a lot to be desired. More interested in exchanging silly comments with each other instead paying attention to customers. One actually had her head on the counter most of the time while she was waiting for paint to mix. The woman ahead of me finally just left with her paint even though it wasn't the color she was trying to have custom mixed. Neither have a hoot about customer service. I will be going to the Central Avenue store from now on. read more

The consultant came in and measured blinds... then didn't find a group to install them weeks after delivery. They set an install date weeks after the the delivery date and tried to register a surcharge. Other installers don't even accept their measurements. This is fraud. ​ read more

Hate this place so much for so many reasons. They only have their own house brand of screws and fasteners, but the heads twist off of wood screws going in to pine like they're made out of tin. This chain is famous for the absolute bottom tier lumber at the highest prices. Everywhere there are a kiosks playing infomercials out loud so you can't just look at light bulbs without being blasted with some infomercial, which they only sell in the absolute garbage Fiets Electric brand that doesn't last a year before it's ewaste or the "smart home" bulbs featured in the infomercial being blasted at you. Basically everything they sell is junk. Website claims they have various maybe-quality things in stock, like GE, but when you get there, they have a giant pile of exactly one brand you've never heard of before, all the same size. I keep doing this thing once a year where I know this place is bad but I want to try to move a project forward today, I go in there, and it's both magically worse than it was a year ago and also I'd forgotten most of how bad it is. This really parallels the decline of Sears, where they used to have a selection of quality, then as they spiraled, it just became lots of random junk. Whatever you're doing, you should either be going to a building supply store, a hardware store (especially for paint), an appliance store, a (gardening) nursery, an industrial supply store, or ordering from McMaster. There's almost never a reason to go in here. Then on top of that, the Christmas music they chose to play was some vile jazz improv smacked on top of 30's nostalgia that for reasons I will never be able to process was like nails on a chalkboard to me. That trip quickly turned in to a McMaster order. Online order's secret weapon is not blasting horrible Christmas music. My projects can wait two days. read more

This has to be the worse HomeDepot ever! The store is dirty and all the employees are not able to help to find what you are looking for. If you use the app is worse because the app says that they have and what isles is located, but is not there. There are wasted or damage materials everywhere. I just moved from Atlanta to Albany, and you can see clear the difference. It is a nasty store!! So sad. Albany deserves better! read more

Five stars for great service in the paint department! I purchased paint in July and didn't open it until 2 months later. It had thickened so much I couldn't stir it. It clearly said not refundable on the can's label but it was $37 so I thought I'd give it a shot at a replacement or to see if they put something on there to thin it out. The gentleman kind of giggled at the state of my paint as it was unusual. He said it can happen if it gets cold but it was sitting in my basement all summer away from the elements so that couldn't be it. He suggested I go to customer service and let them know it was defective. I brought it to customer service and she called the paint guy and gal and they confirmed for me that it was defective. I got a full refund and was able to buy the fresh paint. I went home and used it right away and my deck looks fab! Thanks Home Depot paint department folks! read more

Quick update... Yeah, Lowes for the win... Mom and I were told to come back to Home Depot to get a refund for our broken fridge as well as the (I originally calculated this wrong) $475 in food spoilage because they wouldn't pick up their broken appliance. We go in and come out empty handed, told they will call after 12pm (they called well after 8:30pm) and that the fridge will be picked up September 8th. On the call, we were advised to come in today to get our refund. So that's what we did. Except we didn't get a refund. What we did get was an associate from customer service who seemed a little angry with us. I was too embarrassed to stay with my mom whole she talked to customer service. The recap my mother gave me was that the sales associate who helped us was a little snarky. On the call last night, we were assured that we would get a refund today. Apparently their policy states that refunds can only be issued after the appliance pick up. Okay, that makes sense. But why weren't we told this on any of the many phone calls we were on? Basically, HD is trying to keep our money for as long as possible for a broken appliance that they are reluctant to pick up. We got a new fridge from a family-owned local business instead. My reasoning was that we were just a needle in a haystack at HD, but these family businesses need us (in times of COVID, and not) because to them, we're their main source of income. They aren't a big-name franchise. Let's hope this fridge won't break! read more

Totally adequate Home Depot that I have noticed often has more things in stock than other locations in the area. The online inventories don't always reflect this, for reasons that are known but unto Home Depot, but several times I've found things not in stock at other stores. This specifically includes a better stock of lumber - so tired of having nothing to choose from a pile of 2x4s that is all knots or dings or both. YOU WILL NEED TO WAIT UNTIL HOME DEPOT GETS AROUND TO YOUR REFUND!!! I mean as a business, I am in the business of making my customers happy with the occasional Blip. But Home Depot takes the award for CUSTOMER LAST. I purchased a stove from Central Albany Home Depot in NEW YORK first week of November. They delivered wrong stove on November 12th and I refused to take it. Now the fun begins! Called on Wednesday, Nov. 13th to request a refund and was told it will take 5-7 business days for refund because Home Depot needs their third party delivery contractors to return wrong delivered stove to GE where GE will make adjustments to return monies because Home Depot does not store appliances so they need to wait until GE return the money I paid Home Depot before they can refund me the money. By this time it will take 7-10 business days. It is 17 business days and I may get my refund on the 18th business day which is Friday, December 6th, 2019 and even this is not a guarantee. SO my advice to any individual looking to buy an appliance from HOME DEPOT do so knowing that if you refuse to accept delivery it may take a total of 18-21 business days. So if you are in a hurry like us as a business HOME DEPOT is not the store for you actually a Home Depot rep. told us to purchase from another store which makes sense but this is after the fact. HOME DEPOT as a big BRAND does not care about customer satisfaction when it comes to money and like one rep told us on HOME DEPOT's website the terms and conditions states that HOME DEPOT can change its policy any time. Today April 10th my older brother and I were shopping at home depot store number 1262 on central Ave in albany ny. We were purchasing alot of wood because we were doing 2 DIY projects. We were building a Giant Jenga and Giant Connect 4 set for the backyard. We finally figure out all the pieces we needed and we head over to the wood cutter guy (only on person knows how to cut wood in this store tonight) we tell him what we need and he instantly gets an attitude. Granted it was alot of work on his part. I tell him the measurements for the Jenga and he starts to measure and cut. Once he was done with the first piece of wood I asked him to hold on and I put them together and measured them. They were supposed to be 10.5in a piece and they ranged from 9.5-10.5 so it wasn't going to work. My brother and I decided we will just cut it at home. So we tell him its ok not to cut anymore of those and he cuts the machine off and storms off with an attitude before we can ask him to cut the big piece so we can fit it in the car. So we have to go chase him down and when we finally find him ask him to cut the big piece and he does no problem. The pieces that he cut prior I was not purchasing because it wasn't cut correctly by an employee. So I bring the cut pieces to the front register because I didn't want to leave them on the floor and I was going to check out. I explain to the girl Jessica (only jessica that works their) what just happened and I wasn't paying for them and didn't want to leave them on the floor and how the wood cutter had an attitude. Jessica then tells me "I doubt he had an attitude" and I reply "were you back there because I didn't see you" she reply "no but I know he didn't have an attitude " I reply you wasn't back there so you can't tell me he didn't have an attitude." She's then says " you need to be quiet no need to give me attitude." I reply "i wasn't give you attitude but don't tell me to be quite. Ill go to the front and have my stuff rang out. Thank you have a nice day." Then Jessica replies "Have Fun Fucking Each Other" to me and my brother. Mind you I'm Part of the LGBT community and for her to tell me to have fun Fucking my brother because I'm gay. I felt so violated and disrespected. She then continues to yell and curse at my brother as I'm walking away looking for a manager. I can here her screaming from the wood section all the way to customer service. I find the manager Tim and we explain to him what happened. He didn't seem surprised as if this is something that she does often. My brother is so upset at this point because it seems like Tim isn't going to do anything. Tim tries to get us to check out and leave the store then he would deal with Jessica with a write up. My brother and I didn't want to purchase stuff from that store where this hate crime, this disgusting display of character had just taken place. This is not ok. This is not a write up situation. My issue with home depot is in regards to their delivery service for kitchen appliances. I told them they HAVE to deliver the item before 1PM. No one will be home after 1PM. So on the delivery date the shipper calls and says "your appliance is scheduled to arrive between 12:30 and 5". THANKS FOR NOTHING, HOME DEPOT. read more
