I love this JoAnn store. People know what aisle items are located in. The store is continually restocked and reorganized. You can walk in one day and the aisles are reorganized and restocked the next. Huge inventory, lots of work keeping it tidy. Staff is very helpful locating items. Coupons are amazing, this is the place to be for holiday decor, craft projects, scrapbooking, candy making, knitting, sewing, stamping, you name it - they have it. Awesome read more

I have to admit that I do not know much about sewing. A neighbor is going to make a special dog jacket for our dog and the Joann employee was incredibly helpful. She knew exactly what we needed, followed our pattern and we walked out extremely pleased. I can't thank Joann's for being so helpful. read more

Honestly, one of the worst places to get a piece of fabric cut. 3 people helping with a special order while 1 person cuts. This happens a lot. I always expect to wait at least 20 minutes. If there was another fabric shop nearby, I would not waste my time at this one. FYI: typing this as I wait, so probably a little frustration showing through. read more

Forcing employees to work or to take unpaid leave during the covid 19 lockdown. Lying to say they are essential for selling fabric because they want to stay open. So, they put out a statement asking the public who hasn't been tested for covid 19 to make masks for medical personnel. Your employees are forced to work without masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, or disinfectant wipes. The governor said stay home. You are making more patients for the same medical personnel you are making masks for by risking the public. $9 is not enough to risk your life for. CEO of JoAnn needs to go work in the store since they make the big bucks. read more

I do not sew but I can stitch when needed. I had been putting off going to this store since previous visits are always the same.... not enough staff, long wait times for help, and unpleasant associates. No one seems appreciative of customers choosing their store and no one seems happy to help. I went in with my daughter since we had just had dinner located in the Geneva Commons so misery loves company and she agreed to go in with me. Needed 2 zippers and help to choose the appropraite ones for the project. As usual, hard to find someone and then not eager to answer my questions. I felt as if I was "bothering" them. That night their card reader was down and was only accepting cash. Their way of informing customers was a dark green construction paper sign taped to the front door on the side. Now it was dark out so hard to even see this sign which we did not see. So time wasted shopping, only to find out when reaching checkout. I asked if they could hold the products, even some impulse buys, so I could return when they were operational. My full name and phone number was provided. On the way returning to the store 1.5 days later I called and asked if the card reader was working which it was. I then asked if they could make sure my purchase was still being held. The associate could not locate it. I was on hold for 15 minutes to finally be told they returned it to stock and the policy was to hold merchandise for only 24 hours. This was not mentioned at check out when they had their snafu. By this time I reached the store and was unhappy that I had to shop again. Found all the items and then spoke with the manager regarding my wasted time. The manager really did not want to hear this but told me that all items were still held. More wasted time for me. Following her to the front of the store I could see my purchases from 2 isles away! Come on you guys, it is not brain surgery. Do better, communicate with your staff, have huddles to bring everyone up to speed what is happening in your store if they did not work the night of the card reader breakdown. You wasted my time 3 times. Going to the store, returning to the store, and repurchasing my stuff, only to see my stuff being held. I understand things happen like machines not working. That was not the issue for me. It was all that happened after that. Why I forgot about Hobby Lobby being a fabric supplier I don't know. Going forward, never again, JoAnn. Hobby Lobby has my business. They help their custormers. read more

I took a beginner's sewing class at this Joann's over the weekend. For the class, I give them 5 stars. It should be noted that my mother-in-law is an expert sewer and she taught me how to make a bobbin, thread my machine and some of the beginner stuff. My biggest problem was that I don't do a great job at sewing a straight line and I still don't have ALL the basics down. It was a great starter class because our teacher (sorry, didn't write down her name) went into detail on everything involved with becoming acquainted with the machine. She even let us practice making straight lines to perfect our technique. The price was $35, however watch their app as they sometimes have coupons. I felt that the price was fair for someone like me that is a hands on learner instead of just trying to figure it out by watching YouTube. We learned how to make a pillowcase. I was completely unprepared for this class because I couldn't find my sewing kit before leaving the house. The teacher was really nice and let me use thread, scissors and all the other stuff I needed. She also helped us pick out cheap fabric to make a nice quality pillowcase. I would definitely recommend picking up fabric before the day of the class, as the line ended up getting long with people that waited until the last minute. I don't have any complaints around the class itself, but my fabric wasn't cut very straight. Also, after class when I asked for something that we'd learned about in class, the employee working didn't offer to help find the product, she just pointed and told me that it should be over there. I plan on taking the next class, which is sewing a pair of pants. If you take one class, you do get a coupon to continue on, so I'll probably end up taking every class they offer. read more

Jo-Ann's is a dying breed. All the stores in Arizona have closed and it was shocking to see one out here. The aisles seemed sparse inside this store and a lot of items were on sale/clearance, so I was curious if this Jo-Ann's might be closing as well. The store itself is huge, but didn't seem well stocked. After wandering around the store, it seemed like a lot of fabric (which it's known for) but less crafts. My cousin needed to purchase a scrapbook, so that was the main reason for our stop. She found one, but it wasn't exactly what she wanted. Since their stock was so limited, she had to settle. I've been coming here for years. Rarely ever a good experience, today that changed. Leah came from out of no where to save the day on my confusion on the Cricut machine that I just invested in! Very helpful and knowledgeable she answered all of my questions and offered suggestions. The store was overly crowded and she still went above and beyond to help me and everyone around us whom walked by looking for items or help. Eh. Joanns is the closest craft store to me. It's not my first choice, though. I usually don't find everything I need and have to trek elsewhere. They seem to have a great sewing section, but that's not my craft. I've used them to buy Wilton products, so that's been helpful because they have a bigger selection. I do take advantage of their sale items. They also have good coupons and you can use multiple coupons in a transaction. I feel Like there are too many non-craft things that take away space to have more craft supplies. During the holidays they usually have a knife and scissors sharpener - I've taken advantage of that. read more

Awful layout! No signage above departments to help. Vinyl rolls were an absolute disaster and I couldn't even find plain WHITE iron on vinyl. One cashier while there were 10 people in line with no sense of urgency or any sign of help from other employees. Did you know that this company does not allow you to return ANY clearance items even with a receipt??? Wow - in a times of customer service your company is seriously missing the boat. Almost 100% of the companies I usually deal with will VERBALLY tell you if there is no return policy because it is SO UNHEARD OF!! I bought two rod holders that turned out not to be a great color in my room - the package was NOT EVEN OPENED - I brought it back within 10 days - AND I had my original receipt. They would NOT let me return it. Shame on you for not verbally telling me this when I purchased the product and I will NEVER shop at your store again! read more

Never enough front checkout help... last 2 times I've been there, 12-15 ppl in line with 1 cashier. Not fair to customers and certainly not fair to employee that has to keep apologizing. Shame on your management. read more

This is a TERRIBLE store. I will NEVER shop here again. HORRIBLE customer service. I just had to run into the store to grab something quickly for a small project I was working on- It was twenty minutes till closing, so I knew that I had plenty of time to find the item I needed. As soon as I entered the store, I heard a very unpleasant voice over the store's intercom, reminding the remaining customers in the store that there was twenty minutes till closing. Fine, I'm used to stores doing this- but never in such a rude, unwelcoming tone. And I kept hearing this rude voice every five minutes, reminding customers to get out of the store. Then, as I walked around the store trying to find what I needed - They had just re-arranged the entire store from their previous layout, so I was a bit lost- employees were hounding the remaining customers in the store. Every time an employee would see a customer, they would report into their two-way radio- 'There's one over here.' 'I've still got a couple here.' 'There's two walking up over here.' in a very gruff, unfriendly voice. And this happened to me numerous times in the twenty minutes I was in the store. They made me and other customers feel like CATTLE, and not a valued CUSTOMER. I was never even offered help by an employee. I just felt more like a pest than a customer. I felt so unwelcome, and that my business was not appreciated in the least. And just like the other review on here said, they DO NOT tell you verbally that you cannot return clearance items. I am NEVER shopping here again. If you want a better shopping experience, shop at any other craft store. I sure am never giving my hard earned money to a Jo-Ann store ever again. read more

As I stood in a line of 14 people on a Wednesday at 11:30 am in the Geneva Jo Ann fabrics, I once again, wondered WHY I shop this store. The management in non existent, only two (very slow and unhurried cashiers), no attempt to bring up another employer and THEN one of the two cashiers slowly starts pushing a wayward shopping cart back into the corral. Hobby Lobby will be getting any further business of mine...coupons be damned! read more

I love the location and size of this store and that's where the love ends. The ladies that work there are so dang crabby and slow. I've seen workers literally standing there while a line forms at the cutting desk. The last time I went my daughter asked for a bag for her stuff and the cashier didn't give her one-she just handed her the sticker book. I was pissed because my daughter is four and sweet as can be and this crabby old lady wouldn't give her a freaking bag. I asked- more firmly for a bag and got one. Why be mean to a kid? Plus she was slow as molasses. I'm done with this store. Fine, be rude to me but not my kid who can't defend herself. Jerks. read more

Let me start out by saying I love Joann and get basically everything from there Today I went to exchange some Christmas lights because I had got them in white not green. They were the exact same price and I thought it would be an easy exchange. Well, all of the TWO workers there hadn't the slightest clue what planet they were even on. I've never had to deal with such unhelpful people in my life. They ended up charging me extra to exchange the lights!!! I can't believe the level of rudeness these ladies were. Mind you there was a line of about 30 people behind me, and it still took them 20 minutes to exchange these dumb lights. I am so dissatisfied and angry they charged me extra. They basically stole extra money from me! This Joann is always understaffed and unhalpful. read more

Does not have as much home inventory as other locations. The coupons on regular merchandise are much better than the sales. It's the only store in the area with so many wreaths to choose from. read more
