After disassembling it I took it to Ace and they even replaced the internal washer for me...and the sale...a 40cent part. I too bought some pipe tape etc and all toll through their help I spent an entire $15.32 instead of paying a plumber HUNDREDS! They are always willing to help and assist you at this ACE store! I left the Ace hardware in Hoffman Estates looking for and Ego Edger & I'm glad I did. It was like night and day. They were outside the store grilling when I arrived, passing out free samples. So I walked toward the store and heard "Good afternoon, would you like a sample?" Afternoon, no thanks, was my reply. As I went in the store, immediately I heard "Good afternoon, welcome to Ace." As I went to find the edger, someone else greeted and said "Can I help you?" Within my total time there of maybe 20 minutes, I interacted with at least 5 different employees, who either greeted or assisted me. Not only did I purchase the edger that day, I was able to find lawn seeds, gloves, etc all at a great Ace price. I stopped in after my Honda Accord key LITERALLY snapped in half during that wicked -45° weather we had (I didn't even realize such cold weather COULD break metal!). After encountering more dishonest key makers than I could list I'd finally encountered an HONEST key maker when it first occurred and he told me to go to Ace and not let locksmiths or dealerships take advantage. I was skeptical as you'd not even believe the quotes I got to cut another simple, non chip key! I am soooo pleased with Ace in Roselle! ALL of the professional working at this Ace went out of their way to ensure proper new keys were made and they did not rip me off They even provided some tips on keeping the lock mechanism working well on my now 25 year old Honda (I'm original owner). I will ABSOLUTELY be returning as I find them very honest and knowledgeable. A very pleasant experience! Hello. I decided to write another review. This may surprise many people but it is really positive. Well, if anyone has read my previous reviews, they know what I'm talking about. It's the first day of week four where my gear is still being repaired. And here, a surprise, a person from the store calls and apologizes for the inconvenience and says that the equipment is repaired and can even be delivered to your home. I went to the store with a friend and again, surprise, once again I hear the words of apology and the seller brings working equipment. We check the equipment next to the store - everything works. I will say this again, an older man with whom he is going to get along. I think these people remember the good times of America when the client was the most important. Great respect for them. Another thing I noticed when entering the store was an older man, maybe in his seventies, who smiled and asked what help. Great, great respect for these people. I like shopping here and I hate shopping here. I love that they always have small parts I need, especially plumbing fittings. Everything is easy to find and I feel like I'm shopping local. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. But I also HATE that the staff won't leave me alone. I walked in the other day and a guy was like "What can I help you find?" I told him I was OK, but thanks for the offer. He then followed me around. "Still doing ok?" Or "Need help yet?" It was creepy. Other staff members want to know exactly what I'm working on before helping me find the specific part I'm asking for. It's so intrusive. I get it that a lot of the employees are old guys who love talking projects but I have some social anxiety and don't want to explain myself or have someone stalk me. I don't know if they have too much staff and not enough to do or what, but I'm not there to talk. If I need something I'll ask for help. Please don't follow me. read more

I happened in the area yesterday (2/19/21) and after the snow and ice, needed some snow melt tablets. The owner was helpful and had a new shipment of the product fresh off the truck. He was kind enough to get the product quickly so I could be on my way. He mentioned he had many other regular customers awaiting the same product. he was so kind to his customers by calling them personally to let them know they had come in. This just underscores the reason we need to keep small local business thriving in times like these. I was reminded by the advertisement, "Ace is the place for the helpful hardware man." I had a mixed experience with this Ace. I like to frequent local stores and had just moved near this Ace Hardware. I asked for some tips on painting project for the interior of the house. I was very impressed with the knowledge and pleased that they took the time to explain all the things I needed to consider and know about for this project. However, when I tried to buy the paint I was unable to since the paint mixer machine was broken. Once I understand, but two weeks later I tried again and still couldn't get paint. I grew up around this place and think they over charge for everything. I also think, over the years, it looks just like a rummage place now with tons of "swap meet" looking Chinese products filling up every inch. I am not really for the big box retailers but at least its not chaotic to the eyes and doesn't have the claustrophobic feeling Ace Hardware does. These people are the nicest and incredibly helpful. They are honest if they are out of a product, and if there is something better that is cheaper than what you are looking to buy, they will tell you about the product. We have shopped here since we moved here, and if we forget our coupon, they still honor the coupon. Everyone is professional, polite and they know their inventory as well. You can ask anyone where to find something, and they all know where things are located. Not like those big box stores, where you can even find a sales associate. Ace prices are also competitive, so you don't end up spending more than you would at a big box store. The owner is always on the floor. It's nice that he is so hands on. I recently went to this Ace to try and recycle latex paint. There is a charge to do this, but I wanted to do the right thing environmentally. I brought in two gallons of clearly marked Benjamin Moore exterior latex paint. The manager opened up the can and told me it was oil based paint. I told him the label clearly said latex, but he said he could tell by looking at it. Clearly, this person has no business either managing a hardware store or owning one, as I don't know how one tells simply by opening an old can what type of paint it is. By inference, he accused me of pouring oil based paint into a latex can. Here you try to do the right thing, and someone who knows nothing about paint infers you are doing something underhanded. Ace claims to be the helpful, neighborhood hardware store - I think not. read more

I would not support this Ace Hardware. The owner is extremely rude. My charity called in the day prior and the nice manager told us they could make a chartable contribution to an upcoming event we were holding and when we came in the next day the owner met us with an awful attitude and basically chased us out of the store. As soon as he started getting mean, we just thanked him for his time and left to which he followed us out of the store. I know some people don't like supporting charities but he was awful. A fantastic family owned and operated business. A much better choice than the big box chain store a little further down the road. Cashiers are very nice and helpful, however, I went to get a few a screws foe my bedpost. The old screws were stripped. I waited for over 10 mins for a worker to come help me find the exact size. The cashier would have helped me, but couldn't leave the register. She had to page someone 3 times to help me. I could have found them myself if I knew I had to waot that long. I recently moved into this area and needed to find a hardware store that repairs sliding glass screen doors. A friend suggested I check out this Ace Hardware store so I went there last Saturday. I have to say that I was really surprised by not only the size of the store but also by how busy they were. Everyone was extremely helpful and the gentleman who helped me with my broken screen door could have easily told me to have it repaired for $140.00 and I would not have known any better. But he took the time to look up the price of a new door which was only $55.00. They had to order it for me because they were out of stock in the store. They told me it should be in by Thursday (today) and can you believe it that they actually called me and confirmed the door was in! Talk about great customer service! I was really surprised that they were not listed with Yelp so I couldn't help myself but to add them as a business. read more

My husband and I went to Roselle Ace Hardware last night and had the best customer service we have had at a retail store in a long time. We were assisted by multiple employees who were very attentive. We worked mostly with Vince, who through Yelp I saw that he is the manager, and he was very on-top of all their products. We went to just look at Weber Gas Grills to get an idea of what the store had. We wound up buying the grill we have been looking at since our experience was so great. They have free assembly and local delivery on their grills! I would highly recommend Roselle Ace Hardware based on their variety of products and customer service. read more
