First time here, kind of nervous lol. Their baking section is kind of underwhelming, usually random and sometimes messy. (Like things out of place but not like tornado messy). I would appreciate if they could add more selections to their baking/bakeware section. There isn't another Joanne's for miles and as the only place I can go to other than Michael's, I put my hope in them having a better selection, but oh well. I'll keep praying and hoping! They do however, have more Wilton products than Michael's and their selection of piping tips are diverse, a plus! However, upon check out or even doing I store pickup it takes a while. Pickup is slow and I've had to wait a while on line when at Michael's I just pick up and go! On the other hand it' seems like a great hobby store and for people who love fabrics! This is honestly a wonderland of all things sewing in Scarsdale! And when Corona hit in 2020, all I did was ordered fabrics online so my mom could create face masks for me. JOANN goes beyond the rolls of pretty fabrics, threads, zippers, button, ribbons, lace and accessories. You'll also find small Garden accessories, Arts & Crafts, Gem Stones, etc. Most importantly, there are sewing classes you can [probably] sign up for (I'd check first and see if they're available now). Staff is helpful both on the floor and at the 'Sewing Machine Gallery'- especially since I had trouble finding a thread for my Singer machine. Even when I found what I came here for, I literally walked the aisles to see what else is in store. Aside from the 6 year-old review here, I just don't get any of the recent ones. And dare I say, even when I had trouble looking for some decorative patches, someone stopped what she was doing and walked to the other side of the shop to show me. Honestly I don't understand the bad reviews for this place because I was able to find everything I needed for a project (upholstery). I was thankful that someone mentioned this place because I didn't even know existed. If you into making your own clothes or have a hobby this is the place for you. Yes the service is a bit slow but when you have a project in mind why rushing. I don't know any store like this so i don't know if it is a good value. First, I want to say some of the staff at this location were very courteous and kind. But one cashier was extremely rude. My biggest concern is the RESTROOMS. I am not surprised at all to find out that JoAnn has an absolutely disgusting history of refusing to let a customer use a restroom despite the fact that she was publicly having diarrhea in the store!! The same thing nearly happened to me in JoAnn when I got to the restrooms only to find they were locked. No person inside, no signs on the outside, just locked. One employee saw my struggle as a I knocked on the door begging to be let in to the 3 stall restroom. The employee said nothing, yet she must have known what I had to track another employee down to find out. That I would need to ask yet another employee for a key in order to use the restroom. Why do you purposely discourage restroom use by having NO signage explaining you need to ask for a key as if you're in grade school? Why not simply have a sign saying you need to ask for the key? It is so awkward to struggle to open a locked door while staff is idly walking by. So disappointing yet not at all surprising knowing the history of JoAnn, how they treat their customers and their staff as well. JUST PUT UP A SIGN IF YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO LOCK YOUR RESTROOMS!!! This location sucks. Be prepared to stand in a long line with only one cashier. There is an African American young man who is normally the ONLY cashier on the register when I've gone to this location. He's very, very pleasant and friendly. Most of the staff at this location are friendly and helpful if you ask for help. They are short staffed most days and if you happen to run into the manager at this location (Antonio) and you need him to help you, be prepared for a heavy sigh and a slight attitude. He acts like he really doesn't want to be there and barely wants to help customers. He's not very friendly or warm towards the customers. If your lucky enough to find items on your own be prepared to stand on a long line with only ONE cashier. This is what deters me from going to this location. They apparently need a new manager who is more customer friendly and who could also hire some help in there! This location also needs to be cleaned up. There are a lot of items opened and used... They sell everything from: fabrics, buttons, zippers, glue, patches, candles, stickers, scrapbooking supplies, sewing supplies, crotchet needles, frames, paint, art supplies, baking supplies, fake flowers, duct tape, beads, jewelry, foam, brushes, felt, etc. I came here specifically for felt fabric and self-adhesive fabric tape to decorate some shirts for a Color Run that I did with some friends. I cut the felt fabric into heart shapes and taped them to the shirts with self-adhesive tape, no ironing required. As far as crafting, sewing, fabrics, and the like - this store is ideal. I've never visited a Jo-Ann store until this year, when my fiance dragged me here a few times this year to get materials for her jewelry making and clothing designs. Of course, this type of hobby doesn't really interest me, but it didn't take away from my appreciation of what this store has. Firstly, the overall layout of the store is clean, spread out, and overall neat. Each and every time we've come here, we've always been able to find what we were looking for. Even I was able to locate things alone without any help from my fiance or employee of the store. The place always looks empty of customers, so how they stay afloat in a store this size amazes me - unless I'm just lucky enough to pick the best times to come in, when there are very few customers. We've come here with our child before and they have a decent amount of items for kids that has no relation to crafting or anything. The customer service has always been fine for the times I've dealt with employees whether on the floor or at the register. I have no complaints about the service or the store at all. The register is pretty slow at times and there have been times when we're waiting and waiting for the lone cashier to take out the line and wait entirely too long to call for assistance. It's usually one cashier, but I've seen up to two at a time on the registers and there's always a little line. Twice before it was the customers who've held up the lines with either their fishing for exact change in that duffel bag-like purse they have or their 90 questions that they felt they needed to wait until checkout to ask. The cashiers do need to speed it up regardless though, because some of them can be slow. It seems like the less ringers for more customers situation has affected every retail outlet everywhere - not ever a problem when I slaved in retail. We've walked around the entire store, but usually end up in a few areas. I can't say I'm an expert in such things as mentioned in the other reviews, but in my fiance's experiences - they had exactly what she was looking for each time we've been here, which is more than a handful. I would recommend this place anytime to anyone. The only real problem with this experience is the parking lot, which is certainly not Jo-Ann's fault. It's part of an outdoor mall, so at times this lot is a mess with people, people who can't navigate their vehicles, and people who can't park to save their lives. I've always been able to find parking, but if you're one of those people who need to be as close as possible to the stores......good luck. The lot is a mess, so if you come here use caution. Again, not the store's fault at all. Bottom line, I recommend this place to anyone with a crafting, painting, sewing, jewelry making hobby, interest, or what have you. Please believe the previous reviews that state customer service SUCKS at this store. They do not cut the material true to yard (I'm sure they'll say they measure but I've been buying the same yardage for years and they miss the mark by a lot). Associates are always being pulled off from the cutting counter to somewhere else when there are multiple people waiting to be helped. I will be reviewing this store based on a recent visit. I went in looking for a specific item needed for a wedding project. Online it stated that this specific location had the item in stock as well as several other things I needed. I asked for help by the register and a lovely woman (she was an older West Indian woman) directed me on who to speak to and where it may be located. I spoke to several people and no one knew what I was talking about so I pulled up the product number from the website. The associate assisting me at this point walked me to the section where it could be and we could not locate the item. She calls it in to a manager to let them know the system says they have the item in stock but we cannot locate it. I kid you not, the manager yells back "JUST TELL THE PERSON THE WEBSITE LIED AND WE DO NOT HAVE IT!" The person asked if there was a location that this product would typically be found so that we could possibly find something similar and the manager yelled back, again, "I SAID TELL THEM WE DON'T HAVE IT, THE WEBSITE LIED AND THAT'S IT!" I'm guessing all of the associates in the store heard this interaction because then another worker appeared and attempted to explain how the internet fails to update when products were no longer in stock. He was trying to sell me a story while the person who was originally helping looked embarrassed. Despite her being yelled at over the walkie talkie, she still continued to look for my item as her lawyer coworker attempted to defend their failed updating system. Luckily for me, the older west Indian woman from earlier also heard the interaction and decided to come help. Their talkative co-worker continued to go on about how the product is not in the store as the other two ladies FOUND the item I was looking for. It was just misplaced but as the system stated, it WAS in stock. Summary: 1. I am extremely disgusted by the way a manager would address an employee over a radio where everyone can hear. 2. I know sometimes there are system errors that may truly mean that inventory is not being updated, but do not just tell customers you do not have the product because you do not feel like looking for it. 3. Mr. Talkative, next time have several seats or actually help the customer instead of trying to do a presentation about inventory and computer systems. 4. Please find employees and managers who are not upset with life and please treat them well. Thank you to the older west Indian woman and the lovely persistent young woman who helped me because without them, I would have had to drive about 2 hours to another location hoping that there weren't any 'inventory computer issues'. Hmm where do I begin. 90% of the staff at this location pick and choose who to be nice to and help with their coupons. I hate when I have to buy something at Joann's and pay at the register because it seems like every employee hates this part of their job. I have been coming to this Joann Fabric store on a regular basis for the past couple months. I am not experienced with sewing but have been buying various fabrics on sale for various projects. The women who cut the fabrics are not friendly, appear impatient and look very tired even though it's still morning. And if you don't know how many inches in a yard or 2 yards, etc,, forget it, they act like they're doing you a favor by figuring it out for you. And God forbid you ask what the sale price is before they cut it, or if a certain coupon will work on the fabric, all they say is you have to take it to the cashier. Then I asked a cashier if this fabric was considered a novelty fabric because I have a coupon for it and she said I have to take it to the people who cut the fabrics. Whaaat?? Why can't they just all work together? It should be very basic knowledge that every employee working there should at least be familiar with the fabrics they sell. After all, the name of the store is Joann Fabrics!! Joann needs to seriously train the majority of their employees on crafting, fabrics and materials. There was a man I had seen for the first time cutting the fabrics, I think his name was Anthony or Antonio, he was nice and friendly and he cut it for me no problem. When I needed fabric glue or something to stick to material without sewing a couple of the workers said they didn't know anything about what to use. I'm thinking "how can you work here and not know what works for what material or where certain merchandise is and what does what?" And the cashiers have no idea about the fabrics or what anything does either. Joann needs to revamp their customer service. It's obvious this store caters to EXPERIENCED crafting people. So if you want to know how to do something, then you need to watch a youtube video and figure out what you need, then get the materials here, then do the project. Or maybe taking one of their sewing or crafting classes will help. When you walk into this store, if you don't know what you're doing or looking for then you have to fend for yourself or be prepared to deal with employees that make you feel like you should know what you're doing in there. There is no other fabric store like this one. There is Michael's 3 miles up North on same street but they are not as extensive with crafting supplies as Joann. Joann has really great coupon deals and that's the only time I go in there. So it appears Joann fabrics is a monopoly in the immediate area therefore they can treat customers however they want. read more

I was really excited when I found this place. Before coming here I only went to Michaels. I like they carry yarn that is not available at Michaels, but the selection is not extravagant. Most prices are not matched as online. If you ask they will match the price for you. But now I am told I have to print out the item with sale price from online in order to receive a price match. I decided to take a knitting class here. The instructors I had were not pleasant and inviting. I learned absolutely nothing. You can learn more from online, books, and videos. What keeps me coming back is the Sewing Gallery, which is located within this store. The manager, Ivy, is really great. I am so happy I purchased my sewing machine from here. Ivy is very patience and spends as much time needed with you until your comfortable with your machine. read more

I asked her if the smocked fabrics were on sale, and she said all of them were. Not a single one of them turned out to be on sale. Then I asked if they had swimsuit lining. I have being coming to Joann for years now, and always had a great experience, but yesterday I had a very different encounter with the manager. one of the coupons the 70% off foams, was not working and a supervisor came storming towards us, I didn't get a nice greeting, no, instead she tells the very nice cashier 'Whats the problem" Very rude and unprofessional she snapped off the coupon from the girl's hands, saying she was wasting peoples time, she scolded the cashier, with such disdain in front of a line of customers, disregarding any respect for employees, customers or any human being. She told me everything went trough , there was no problem .. I was stunned, so quite fracking I didn't even check, so I paid and left, getting in my car with my 3 small children, I checked the receipt, and sure enough she got it wrong, the coupon of 70% didn't work, it was replaced with a 40% I was using for another item, I felt dismissed in such condescending way, that I had to go back, and so i did with my 3 small children... Irina was the name of the manager, if Im not misspelling, did not had the decency to apologize, just kept rushing me as I was taking to much of her time, I returned everything that I bought and left. Now with the internet out there, I found out you can buy foam from the comfort of my house, with places like Amazons prime, one would think stores like Joann would care more about training their managers, I doubt that woman had any training in human relations, moreover any training in anything since she couldn't even foreseen the problem the computers has with the 70% coupon, according to some customers on line, I wasn't the only one there. So tired of getting attitude from associates nearly every visit. I'm always apprehensive to interact with the older associates as it seems they're the ones with the most attitude and for what I don't know. This has to be one of the most frustrating Joann Fabrics that I've visited. I'm routinely sewing or making beaded jewelry and come to this location since it's closest to where I live. Unfortunately, the store rarely has all the items I need to complete projects, as the shelves consistently look empty. Associates are either extremely helpful or barely willing to help. This only seems to be the case at this location. The only thing I love about joanns is the variety of items sold there apart from that everything else needs a big improvement if not it will continue to get the same reviews as this and the ones below. I came two nights back and there was an abundance of a particular product which I didnt get to purchase due to uncertainty of the size I needed. I came back today and searched for over 10 minutes to find nothing on the shelf. I went cash out my other stuff and asked the cashier if there was anything maybe behind there that wasn't placed back on the shelf. She didn't look and simply said nothings here and if it's not on the shelf then it's out of stock. Finding they hard to believe I went to go look for another staff member since I figured shes the only one cashing out with a line of customer this may be hard for her to try to figure out. I went and found two other associates working together and simply asked if there was anything in stock, if maybe they can scan the item and see. They refused to do so and said the same thing thing, if it's not there it's not in stock. I decided to back again and look for another 5 minutes when i noticed there was a box above head possibly about 5 feet above me. I had to find a stick to push the box down to find...... THE PRODUCT I WAS LOOKING FOR. And not just one but a whole set of them!! I went back to the associate and voiced my concern for the lack of help from 3 associates, which she turned to me and responded, I thought you were asking about it being on the shelf when I clearly said in STOCK! Not even an apology. I get it, it's covid times are hard there's lack of staff, but come on I just needed you to scan it! After cashing out I requested to speak with a manager. I've been coming to this Jo-Ann ever since I heard there was a closer one to my school (which was like 3 years ago). And it's been one year since I graduated, and I still prefer this one than the one that is closest to me (the one in long island). In every visit, I have never had a problem with cutting fabric, paying for my supplies or asking for help. I had a problem once, when I said there was sign that was discounted and it didn't show up on the register when I went to go pay. The guy at the register, actually checked the sign and said oh it was for xxx fabric (some specific fabric) only. I told him, I wasn't the one who picked out the fabric, it was the lady at the cutting counter and I asked her if this was part of the discount, and she said yes. In short, he gave the discount. :) It was super nice of him. There are times when the ladies at the cutting counter chit chat while cutting or may not have full attention to their customers, but it was never a problem for me. And they're always so nice and down to earth. There are great selections of fabric for a decent price. If you're on a budget, Jo-Ann has lots of coupons and I don't think there is a coupon limit. (Cause they do coupon commotion in the summer/fall?) So whatever project you have, a coupon can make it cheaper. :D There are some things I can't exactly find at Jo-Ann, but I always find something close to what I'm looking for. read more

Horrible order pick up experience! I tried ordering embroidery floss for a project I'm working on. Two days after waiting for the ordering to be processed, I called the store to find out if there was a delay and when I could expect the item to be ready. The woman I spoke to told me my order was cancelled but I was never notified via email. What if I never called? She told me the items were no longer in stock even though it stated online they had multiple in stock. I called again two days later to place another order. I called to make sure the item I was about to order online for store pick up was in stock before ordering and the woman I spoke to said, if it says it's in stock online, it's in stock in store. The item said 6 were in stock. So I proceeded to place my order. A few hours later I received an email that my order was cancelled. Checking my bank account, I noticed I still have two charges on my account. I called the store again and explained what happened. The woman then directed my phone call to the manager who was very rude. She explained they didn't charge my account, there is just a hold. I proceeded to ask her why my orders keep getting cancelled and she asked the place me on hold. I was on hold for twenty minutes when I decided to call back. The person who answered placed me on hold again. So I hung up and called again, now they are not answering the phone. I understand there is a situation going on right now, but Joanns should not offer this service if orders continue being cancelled. Do not waste your time or money! read more

One of the most understaffed, poorly managed stores I have ever encountered. Only 2 people working the registers on weekends. Sales help on the floor is impossible to find. Shelves are poorly stocked. It's a mess. I'm currently standing on a line with people who all agree that it's always like this and it's expected to wait on unbelievably long lines any day of the week. The folks here are actually helpful! They helped me to find the obscure things I was looking for, with care and patience. And, best of all, they offer lots of affordable classes. I took Sewing 101- and both instructors were so attentive, and the small class size was great. The materials were included, and I ended up taking home the projects I sewed. Antonio was wonderful! I was trying to help my elderly friend find some sewing patterns, scissors and other items as a gift for his wife, and the first couple of people I encountered were not helpful in the least. The first person I spoke to first flat out said that she would not help me, and I would have two "figure it out.". We had no idea what we were doing, so we were very relieved when Antonio walked us through the process of how to find what we needed in the catalogs that were on sale, how to figure out which sizes we needed, as well as where to locate them in the store. Our checkout experience wasn't great, Doris was condescending when my friend did not understand why certain items were not ringing up on sale. But now I know that if I need help, I should just ask for Antonio in the first place! The store has a great selection of DIY and home decor in general, they just need to work on their customer service. read more
