Went to Joanna's Cafe after seeing they had a lot of breakfast options, and everything looked tasty. As soon as you walk in, you're told to pick a seat. It's a small restaurant, maybe 15 tables. It's very very simple. The menu is large, and gives great descriptions like "topped with warm buttery syrup", or "tasty and authentic". Unfortunately, that is a lie. The syrup comes in servings of about 2 tablespoons in a plastic throw away cup. The authentic and tasty, is also a lie. The steak had no taste, at all. The biscuits in gravy looked great, but literally tasted like nothing. It wasn't bad, there just was no taste. The hash browns had no seasoning, the Chilaquiles had no flavor, and was soggy. The only thing that had any flavor was the bacon. French toast was cold upon arrival, over easy eggs were brought out over hard. There was 2 younger women and an older man and woman. Older man and woman, who weren't our servers were really polite, and checked on us. The 2 younger women were rude, didn't smile once, or even greet us. She walked up to our table and said "you ready to order". After asking for our check as they were speeding by our table 3 tables we finally just walked up in the desk they use for a register, and she didn't say a word. She put the bill on the counter and pointed at the table. If the food was great, or even okay the service probably wouldn't have matter, but you can literally get food with more flavor at Jack in the Box. Don't waste your money here. They don't understand the concept of spices, flavor, or even how to properly cook eggs. read more

I have been here twice and the food is so good. Never have we had anything bad here or had to send it back. The biscuits and gravy are to die for. The fruit side is so much fruit and fresh fruit not soft fruit. The bacon is so delicious too. It is t overly priced either. Tried Joanna's this morning for breakfast,husband loved the bacon as he said was not too thick, not thin, it was perfect and tasty and we both enjoyed the pancakes. I tried the eggs Benedict but lost a star for egg a tad over cooked. Sauce was tasty and loved the thicker cut ham. I had to try a side order of the hash. I loved that they added bell peppers and onions to it and served Crispy! Yes! Perfection! The family owned cafe are sweet ladies and shows true pride of ownership. And the cook, keep up the good work, but a little less cooking on the poached egg. We will be back, even if it's about 20 miles from home. read more

Warning! New owners.This is not the same Cafe (Lori's) that it used to be. The huevos rancheros are now basically three little tostadas topped with a table spoon of beans and an egg served with some potatoes on the side, not the ranch style breakfast you expect. No rice. No beans. No red or green sauce. No salsa. No meat. No tortillas to pick it all up with. Nice people have bought this restaurant, but this was a rip off at $12. When I pointed out my disappointment, they made no offer to remedy it or give me something else. They happily took my credit card, though. I will not return. I can make this at home myself for $2. When I sat down, I was asked if I wanted water and was given a menu. A lady came by asked if I'd been helped. I said yes . So she took the menu I had laid down (since I'd already decided what to order). The water and brought, but then no one returned to take my order for ten minutes. I had to flag down the waitress. At the table next to me, a guy bought them menus when they were expecting their check. Yes! They had already eaten. This is a small restaurant and they were not terribly busy. What a shame. This place is a hole-in-the-wall type place. I felt like I was out on hwy 395 somewhere. It has that small town locals feeling which i like. I was excited when I saw the menu. Lots of choices. I went with my favorite brunch restaurant meal- Eggs Benedict with homecut potatoes. I gotta be honest.... nothing to ironically write home about. My eggs were slightly overcooked but still some running yoke. The English muffin was not good. Way over toasted and just hard to cut with my knife. My home-cut potatoes lacked for flavor and really didn't taste fresh. I like my food served piping hot. Mine was just warm but not hot. My son ordered a salad and they brought him a oval bowl of shredded lettuce covered by 2 massive slices of a steak cut tomato - It did not resemble a salad at all. Found this little gem down the street from our place and we definitely had a good experience . The waiter was incredibly nice and timely with our orders . Portions are large and good . We ordered biscuits and gravy ( which tasted very fresh ) and my husband ordered the bacon and cheese omelet . Both came with potatoes and toast . So I consider myself quit the breakfast guy. I ate here years ago, maybe 20 years back I don't remember anything great or bad. Today's breakfast was ok. Denver omelette was over cooked, lots of crusty brown on the egg and a little dry otherwise it was serve hot with adequate filling. The biscuit and gravy was ok. Biscuit good, gravy very bland. Although I tend to believe Garvey should be made with the cooked meat drippings and crumbs, it's the only way otherwise it looks and tastes like a bowl of clouds. Potatoes were fresh but nothing special. Price was ok. I think I could have done Better at Bravo Burger. But hey, these people were very nice and accommodating which makes up for lack of outstanding food. I'd still come back if I was in the area, really Hungry and looking for a relatively quiet place. Lori's cafe is a hole in the wall where mostly regulars go. Customer service was not the best which I rate a 1. We had to seat ourselves and grabbed menus from a table next to us. After sitting for almost five minutes our waitress came. She was the only employee who actually smiled at us. The food I rate a 2. The bacon appeared to be reheated since it was very dry and brittle. The toast had a puddle of butter sitting on it. The Frittata was actually pretty good and the pancakes were great! Not once did our waitress check on us. My husband and I decided to try Joanna's Cafe for lunch. We've been there for breakfast and were happy but had never tried lunch, so, why not? We want to support small business in our area. I was in the mood for a burger. The menu lists their "juicy" burgers, I just wanted something simple so I asked for a cheeseburger, well done, with lettuce, tomato, onion. What type of cheese comes on that I ask? The server responded, "yellow". Yellow? What? So I ask, "American or cheddar"? Cheddar. Ok, I'm not fond of cheddar on a burger but I'll go with it. I ask for fries with that. My husband orders a beef sandwich. Our food arrives. I taste the fries. The fries tasted stale. You know how when you let your fries go cold and then warm them in the microwave? That's how they tasted. Stale and mealy. Yuck. The burger was not "juicy" but a bit dry (maybe my fault) and no onion was to be found. The beef on my husband's sandwich appeared to be sandwich meat someone bought at Stater Brothers. Overall, not a great meal, and if it's not great, why eat it? I can only speak to what we ordered, the other lunch items may be terrific, but we were left disappointed. My family and I came from Lake Elsinore for brunch. When we first walked in we were greeted and seated right away but the problems we encountered with Joannas Cafe was their beverages and utensils. All four of our drinks had a bunch of black particles floating around which almost looked lIke mold not sure if it was from the ice machine. We informed the server and he did apologize and brought new drinks, at that point we had already ordered our food. When the server came to bring the utensils the forks were still very much dirty it was very disappointing. My son had ordered a plain cheeseburger and they brought him a cheeseburger with all the ingredientes in it. It's almost as if she wasn't paying attention when taking our order which delayed from him eating. The food was ok not what I expected though. This is sub-par breakfast food at best. We had Red Chilaquiles which was simply nacho's covered with tomato sauce and non-melted cheese on top. I travel to San Diego and Mexico frequently and these are as far of a departure from Chilaquiles as you can get. I also had an omelette which was edible but nothing to write home about. The interior of this place is run down and dated. If I am going to pay for a meal, it should taste better than a meal I can prepare. This was not the case.
