I ordered some delicious Whole Belly Fries Clams along with a cup of Lobster Bisque. The Red Potato Salad was 'meh'. I could've done without it honestly. The bulk of the shop is the wide berth of fresh seafood cases. One corner of the place is the restaurant with some stools and window front counter seating. This is such a great little fish market with a solid selection of fresh seafood for very reasonable prices. My husband and I are visiting the area and decided to check it out for lunch. We ordered the steamers, New England clam chowder, buffalo monkfish bites, and a flounder and shrimp platter. Everything was so delicious! I especially loved the steamers. Packed house , but the flavor never showed up. We stopped here after a day down the shore because it was packed and we wanted to see what the hype was about. Ordered a fish platter, crab cake, and sweet potato pie--food came out in under 10 minutes. Unfortunately, the flavor was missing. The whiting tasted reheated, fries were greasy and had no salt, and nothing had seasoning--not even a sprinkle Old Bay and everything on the fisherman's platter needed it! I was given macaroni salad instead of coleslaw without being notified. The crab cake was decent but heavy on filler and a bit burnt. The sweet potato pie was seriously the best thing they had to offer!! The customer service was okay. The workers were focused more on personal conversations than interacting with the customers. There are a few spots to sit if you want to dine in but not many. There's a small area of tables outside to sit which was a nice option. They have EVERYTHING you could need, and our family really enjoyed everything we brought - shrimp cocktail, crab claws, lobster bisque, crab cakes... each bite better than the last. 2nd time here within two weeks after a 2 year hiatus. First time I wanted soft shell crab but they had just run out so I got the haddock platter. Platter came with haddock, fries, cole slaw, tartar sauce, hot sauce, and ketchup. Food was plentiful and delicious. Haddock was perfectly cooked. Went back yesterday for the soft shell crab because it's a summertime must for me. Got the platter which came with two large crabs which again were perfectly fried and seasoned well. Jody is always great for fried fish. Can't speak for other items because I've never had them. read more

The lobster roll is a bargain at $15 (would be better with a trad toasted/buttered split top bun), excellent slaw (not sweet, as seems to be the norm now), friendly service. Jody & Jodee's Fishery is a long-standing establishment that has always lurked within my fond memories as a place that I would frequently stop at if I found myself heading to Asbury Park, New Jersey. It Is by no means anything fancy. I would describe it definitely as more of a hole-in-the-wall type place then possessing any type of grandeur of a fancy restaurant. That is perfect for me. For me, part of the allure of the Jersey Shore has always been these humble, mom-and-pop seafood joint that litter the landscape of that magical place known as the Jersey Shore. On this particular trip, I had a fish sandwich. It certainly did not disappoint. Not only was the sandwich very good, but with each bite I was filled with nostalgia and reminiscing of incredible memories. That is part of the allure a visiting places but you do not go to Everyday, rather, they are more of a special event. These establishments are associated with those incredible memories and became part of the travelogue of those journeys. If you find yourself in the vicinity, I would definitely recommend this place. I should have trusted my instinct and saved my money after developing concern when looking at the reviews after pulling in to the parking lot. I was really hoping that I would have a different experience, but nope, the people do not lie. The service was pleasant (I made sure to smile at the folks helping me to mitigate any potential rudeness that I may encounter based on the reviews), and I received all of the help I needed pretty quickly. The place did make me a bit nervous as it doesn't seem and smell as clean as other fish stores I have been in, and I should have once again trusted my instincts. I purchased raw clams and shrimp. I cooked up the clams that same Sunday night, and they were fresh and tasty. HOWEVER, I went to cook my shrimp on Tuesday (1.5 days later) and I was met with a fishy smell when unwrapping. I tried to rinse, clean, and cook, but when they came out of the boiling water, I smelled chlorine, which is the smell of disaster with seafood. Today was my first time at Jodee's and WOW. I hooked. From the minute I ordered I was impressed. The guy on the phone was so kind and helpful to make a few adjustments and recs for my kids (whole love seafood). Order for 4 was ready in 15 minutes. The place is SO clean. Surprisingly, I was expecting the price to be twice as much as it was!! But the most important thing of all, it was delicious. My husband always gets catfish and I hate it. I had to take a bit in the car bc the smell was so intoxicating and omg it was so tasty!!! The one thing we didn't like was corn on the cob! But I think it just got over steamed in the to go container bc I live about 25 min away. There was a lot of different sauces with each dish and they were all so good and perfectly paired. So, I passed this place, wondering if it was good. I stopped somewhere close, looked at the reviews, and still couldn't tell. It seems to be a place that polarizes people. To the left/south of the store, there is a place to order meals, along with some counter space where you can eat. I ordered a Cajun Catfish Sandwich with cocktail sauce and a cup of white clam chowder. It took a little while to put it all together but the person behind the counter was friendly and helpful. The chowder was interesting. I'm still not sure I liked the recipe or not. It got me thinking about my time back on Cape Cod and maybe, that was an unfair comparison. It was full of clam meat without a lot of potatoes. The combination of spices was interesting. The Cajun Catfish sandwich was good (and huge for $6.99), but also the combination of spices was not expected. We ordered here because we live in Ocean and did not want to drive all the way up to Keyport Fishery. We were very surprised and happy with the food! The Fried Shrimp Platter was on point! We ordered chicken tenders and fries for the kids and they loved them. The clan strips and mozzarella sticks were a perfect app! My wife ordered Old Bay Steamed shrimp...needed a little more Old Bay for her liking but it was a generous portion and she enjoyed. Less greasy than Keyport so this is a solid 4 for us! This review is for the fish market. We've gotten seafood here the last two weekends and it's been absolutely awesome! Fresh, well prepared. The salads are especially good - our favorites are the octopus and the calamari salads. Fresh, not rubbery as those types of seafood can get. Oysters Rockefeller are my personal favorite though the stuffed clams are great as well. Most of the fish is stuff we catch offshore so it's definitely local and coming off the day boats. When we can't get it ourselves or need a little help in getting it prepared- these guys are really great! read more

I came in for the first Friday of lent for the first time. The place smelled great compared to other fish markets. The Market looked exciting and everything seemed very fresh and well laid out. I am very picky seafood wise and it was all perfect. I had the seared rare tuna special with wasabi aoli and it was amazing. I even took some stuff to go and it was great! I drive past this spot once a week and had been meaning to try it so today I finally did. I got 6 whole belly fried clams, 6 fried oysters, cup of lobster bisque, cup of NE clam chowder, corn bread. Lobster bisque was not good. Whatever spices they use for this soup are not my idea of lobster bisque. There were noticeable chunks of lobster in here though. Corn bread was not great. Too sweet for me. Clam chowder was fine. Nothing special but lots of clam chunks. Again, there was a strange spice palate in here. Clam and oysters were good. Not too greasy and very flavorful. Better than most in the area! I would get the clams and oysters again and pass on the rest. The staff was friendly and there are a lot of other items I would like to try. Price scam on crab. Please see the other review. They tried to overcharge for Alaskan crab. They call both Snow and King Crab Alaskan Crab. Both had tags that said 14.95 a pound. After we ate they charged us 19.95 a pound. $10 extra to our bill. I was insistent that my husband NOT pay until they fixed the bill. They wouldn't until I insisted they go through the tags that they already removed and said I'd call the cops. One of the guys who worked there said that this happens often. read more

Although they were not highly priced, that had entirely too much mayo, and there was a lot of chopped celery which was clearly just in there as a filler and not to improve the taste. I would have glad paid more money for less mayo and no celery. The guys behind the counter seemed like good folks, and the fresh fish looked and smelled perfect. Everything was wet and soggy, the fried clam strips were chunks of raw dough with no clams inside, the fried oysters were completely disgusting and not edible! Everything was fried super dark like they used old grease. To make matters even worse I realized they over charged me by $10 once I was home! I had to re-cook all my food and it still was not edible. I wish I could give this place a negative 5 stars. This has to be the worst seafood or takeout that I have ever had. The fried oysters tasted like they were very old and sour. The batter was burnt on the outside but raw in the middle. All of our dinners were wet and soggy. The fried clams were just chunks of raw burnt batter and no clams to be found. I tried a wet soggy fry that tasted like old fish. Burnt raw batter on the softshell crab also. The coleslaw was in a small ketchup container and it was brown.
