We paired things with a bottle of wine which seemed like the biggest bang for our buck: only $29 for the bottle and we were both feeling tipsy afterwards so it was better than just getting a few beers. View of the beach from the table was nice but it was a little weird that we also had a view of the prep area too. Walked in as a group of seven happy to be seated only to discover the prices were not the same as advertised on the website. We brought it up to the server and was told it was just old (this is at least $5-$10 more than online). Then when we needed more water (the pitcher we were originally given wasn't even full for a table of 7) it took us 15 minutes to get anyones attention and the women who did respond very rudely replied that she was doing something and couldn't help us. Another server kindly took our water to fill it. After that we decided to just leave because within the 25 minutes we were there we were not treated with respect and felt extremely deceived by the price discrepancies. Outstanding Crab Bisque soup. I was afraid to try it but the smart waitress brought me a sample and I loved and ordered it. It was really good and I couldn't believe it had REAL crab meat in it. This is the creamy soup not the Manhattan red type. It was creamy, delicious with real crab and a hint of bite at the end. Caesar Salad was very good also. Surprisingly good and they were not cheap with the creamy dressing. The lettuce was bright and fresh no brown spots. Good strong flavor. Free Sweet Cornbread was a pleasant surprise as well. It was sweet, very soft, and came with orange marmalade on the side. Now the important part, the crab legs ; Very sweet, clean nothing growing on them. Cooked properly soft and tender. Came out steaming hot. Good portion for what you pay. They aren't king crab legs but they are very very tasty. Order them and you won't be disappointed. Our waitress Alicia was spot on and checked on us regularly and forgot nothing. Stayed on the beverage refills without being asked. Wanted some seafood, so we tried this place. The interior is nice but has a heavy wood tarnish smell. Food tasted ok, 2-3 stars. Snow crab legs were on the smaller side, and the blue crabs had zero meat on them (no exaggeration). Shouldn't even sell this. What made this 1 star instead of possibly being 2~3 was the service. For some reason, other tables were being served first, although we were there first. Also, they never really asked if we wanted anything else and just gave us the check without even asking as if they wanted us to leave... so we decided not to order another round and just left. read more

Taking into account the location (boardwalk and on the beach), the pricing isn't outrageous for what you're getting. My family enjoyed a meal here after a little 'family fun time' on the boardwalk. We went on a Saturday night, and we were seated right away, no wait, which was wonderful. We started out with some drinks. My husband ordered a Mai Tai, and I got a Blueberry Lemonade. The drinks definitely hit the spot. They started off by giving us some complimentary corn bread with marmalade, which was pretty good. I ordered a soft shell crab sandwich (a personal favorite) and my hubby got a lobster salad roll. I had visitors from out of state we took them to Point Pleasent for the day... I went fishing nearby and my wife took all thirteen of her relatives to the beach. At the end of the day, I went to join them, and they had just ordered dinner at this restaurant. They mostly ordered the mixed seefood platter, or the lobster MAC & Cheese. I walked in and found my wfe took the liberty and ordered me a seefood platter. It was a large plate with a ton of Linguini and some shrimp, scalops and whatever else was there. The servers were courteous, and very helpful. When my wife complained that the restrooms were dirty, they immediately sent someone to clean and refresh it. First boardwalk meal of 2018. Nice place. Pricey for the taste of food. Food was fresh but not seasoned so well. The fish was flakey, fresh but very bland. The staff is awesome, bar tender works the busy bar and keeps everyone smiling. It's a nice side place and even got it to be the first nice weathered Saturday. They had a wait list up to 45 mins. So we tried this place when we were on the boardwalk in hopes it would satisfy our seafood craving. First off- I didn't appreciate the fact that we were lied to by our waitress. We all ordered Alaskan King Crab legs only to get some crappy regular crab legs that were half the size of Alaskan. I spent more time trying to break them open then actually eat. Prices were stupid ridiculous for what we received. Just a hamburger alone was $15 which I was forced to order for my 4 year old since they didn't have a hamburger on the kids menu. Smh. We spent a good $250 on our meals and it was not worth it at all. Never coming here again. Place was over crowded. Only one bathroom for guys/girls. Waiting line to use it out the door. Had a hard time choosing between Martells and Jakes but a customer who just got finished eating said to definitely try Jakes. Decided to try this place and I am happy I did. The service was prompt and the servers were awesome. We decided to sit at the bar with a cool bearded caucasian guy who had more soul than soul food. He made us feel extremely comfortable and he knew how to make drinks with Hennessy, which is rare. I decided to order the half barbecue chicken from the grill and my partner ordered the seafood combination. I was stunned with the juiciness of the barbecue chicken, especially since it was the breast. The broccoli that I had as a side was so delightful, not to soft or hard. Wound up here by surprise and glad we did. The cornbread was very good and hot and came with orange marmalade, no butter. I am a butter fiend, but the cornbread was good without. The reason I am giving this place 4 stars and not my average 3 is the clam chowder. It was the most flavorful chowder I have had in a long time, maybe EVER, and I think it was the lack of too many potatoes. Many restaurants load their chowder with potatoes to thicken it up and then much salt is needed to get any flavor. Thus had a good amount of clams, not over cooked to rubber, and the seasonings taste of Campbell's Pepperpot soup. Excellent! Good service and food other choices were good as well. Loved the sink in the dining room for cleanup after crab legs, etc. Very nice to have this place for boardwalk variety, and not just another ice cream shop! I forgot to mention the 9, yes, NINE, TVs. The rating on this place should be a lot higher. I have been twice and haven't had a bad experience. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals on both occasions. Jake's is a good mid scale dining option. You can still have a nice meal and be dressed casual coming off the beach. The seafood has always been prepared well. Great for big kids! 2 of my kids had the hot dog with french fries and the 3rd had mac and cheese. This wasn't Kraft thank goodness (i hate when i pay $7 for Kraft - drives me nuts). I ordered a house salad and calamari to share. Specifically i ordered the buffalo calamari which was perfectly tempura breaded and deep fried to perfection. Underwhelming and a bit expensive. The corn bread though was really good and lord knows I love corn bread. The New England Clam chowder was also pretty good just a little too thick. The service was good, a friendly server was one plus but the food was just so so. They serve really large portions, too large if you ask me and I'm a big guy. However, when people go on vacation and are staying at a hotel they have no place to take a doggie bag so the large portions make no sense. We had to throw out most of the food we ordered cause there was no way to eat it all. The king crab legs however were really good and fresh. They were the reason we went into this restaurant and they didn't disappoint. They were plentiful and quite delicious. They went down really well with some really cold Yuenglings. I wouldn't recommend it though and I wouldn't go back. The tables were so small we couldn't fit the food and the cups and the bread and all the stuff they served. They had to continually make room for the dishes in order for us to comfortably eat the food. It was ridiculous! I couldn't find a place to put my beer. 90+very hot & humid Thur summer night 6pm. We needed AC and seafood for 4 adults, 2 small kids. Seatly quickly, servers were the NICEST staff and made the whole experience a true Jersey Shore memory! Raw Oysters, raw clams were fresh and tasty. Griddle Crab Cake was excellent, flaky, with sweet potato fries. Blackened Salmon and Alaskan Crab Legs were delicious. If you're in the mood for crab, this is definitely a good place to go. We ordered the buffalo calamari which was very flavorful (a bit heavy on the bleu cheese crumbles) but fried well. We asked for more buffalo sauce on the side. For the main meal we each got snow crab legs which were delicious. The corn and potatoes on the side lacked a bit of flavor but we didn't really mind since the crab was what we came for. The portions are good for the price and it hit the spot. The table next to us ordered the blue crabs for about the same price and had about 1/3 the amount of food so wouldn't recommend getting those here. The place overall is a bit small but it worked. The lobster tails were fresh and delicious. I loved the seating by the window - great views all around. Our server was so attentive... I asked for water with "extra extra" ice and she brought me two waters with ice and an extra cup of ice .. I thought that was very thoughtful and considerate. My 14 yr old son also enjoyed his lobster tails and almost ate the entire plate of calamari by himself! Next time we will have the crab! We went there for a late lunch. My wife ordered the crab bisque, which was more like a crab glue pot, it was so thick and lumpy it was inedible. I ordered the blue crabs and they were delicious cook perfectly. My wife ordered the steam mussels and once again the sauce was thickened so badly it took the flavor away from the mussels. I have eaten at this restaurant a few times, so I know the food is okay here. This review is for my most recent visit last week. First, let me address the bathroom situation. You guys really need to invest in another one. Seriously. You know that Point Pleasant boardwalk basically only has one public restroom facility for the entire beach, so of course, there will be a beeline for the bathroom in this restaurant. I don't think, a a guest of your restaurant, I should have to stand in line for 20 minutes waiting to use your ladies room that accommodates only one woman at a time. On top of that, it was dirty and had no tissue. You guys can do better. Secondly, I was not a fan of your softshell crab sandwich. It was overcooked, and didn't taste fresh at all. I have had the crab cakes here, so I should have gone with that as I normally would. Third, what's with the high prices?
