Honestly, I wasn't keen to going in here. I didn't feel comfortable when I first walked in, especially how it was a little crowded in there. However, I decided to stay since Yelp is what motivated me due to the number of positive reviews. First off, the wait time was 30 minutes, but considering how hot the place is, it was one of the best decisions ever made. I immediately noticed the plastic barrier that is dividing the tables. I felt relieved, despite the place being filled with a lot of happy customers! The data connection was extremely horrible. Maybe it's just my service? I don't remember if I was able to check-in or not, but my review was sitting pretty in the drafts since the data service wasn't cooperating with me. So yes, this is a really late review. Nevertheless, it did help me put away my phone just to take to my companions. Customer service is friendly, I love how servers were sweet and kind to me. They even give their time and attention to talk to their customers, which made me feel comfortable eating here. They offered laminated menus so that they can be wiped off once they're finished. I also noticed one employee preparing utensils in small, cylinder-like brown bags to prevent contamination. When I was offered a salad, I didn't like the way it looks. However, once I have a bite of it, it's one of the freshest salads I have ever eaten. I don't know where do they get their salad, but if you ever come by, do order it! You won't regret it at all! I wanted to order the Chicken Fried Steak, but they were out of it! I was a little disappointed because it's my all-time fave food item if I ever see it on the menu. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken instead, with beer-battered fries. The CFC is so so juicy! When you cut into it, hot steam would come out. Chef's kiss!! Muah! The one thing I didn't like on the plate was a small bowl of peas. I was hoping to have a bowl of corn, but that's fine. Maybe they were out of it, or it was peas in a bowl day or something. Next time I come in, I'll try to see if I can swap the peas for corn. 10/10 I recommend coming to this place. Another converted gas station but the interior is rather plain except for the wall art. It is a seat yourself casual place with friendly folks ready to take your order. The menu is pretty straight forward, lots of comfort food and all day breakfast items. I ordered the open face hot pot roast sandwich with a side salad and a cup of coffee. Let me say the coffee here is delicious, full flavored and refills are done quickly. The pot roast sandwich was so good, an ample slice of the pot roast on a slices of bread with thick brown gravy. The salad was the normal fare, lettuce, tomato with a little grated cheese mixed in with a small side of dressing. The reasonable prices, excellent service, ample portions make this place a winner to me. I pass through Evanston on occasion and I will be back. read more

4/5 is a high rating, for me only fine dining level execution can be 5/5 This is reviewed as one of the better kitchens in the area and I don't doubt it. When you're passing by and need something reliable, I think they will take care of you. In total our table had the hamburger steak, bacon chicken ranch sandwich, and the pea soup. All three were quality ingredients cooked with care. The chicken sandwich was especially good and much better than a very popular local slot near home. I would order that again with a side of ranch for taste, no hesitations. The coffee was good, definitely better than your usual diner brew. Our server was kind as well. I was required to provide at least one star, or else it would be a zero. Staying overnight, looked at reviews, led us there. Was greeted, told to sit anywhere, and thats where the service stopped. Sat at a table, one of just a couple open, with a wet dishrag on it, and watched the wait staff clear tables, chit chat, and wander in and out of the kitchen. Never got approached. A great find for breakfast in Evanston, Wyoming. It's at the 'other end' of town and the guy at our hotel told us about it. We descended on them with a table of 8 and they didn't bat an eyelash. They rolled with the 10 year old who wanted a grilled cheese and fries at 9:30 am. All of had delicious food and most of us couldn't finish the huge portions. It was a win all around! read more

When we arrived there was quite a waiting line. The staff moved everyone quickly in! They had the best staff I have seen in a long time! They all do every job, whatever was needed they did it. No one walked past a job whether dishes, refills, whatever! I commented to the lady clearing tables. She said "team work makes dream work!" I had the pork chop meal. The green beans tasted fresh! Salad was very good, fresh dinner rolls, chili, all very good. Hubby had fish & shrimp meal with green beans , salad & chili. He too commented on the salad & green beans! Found this wonderful diner/restaurant through yelp. Super early, got breakfast and some dinner menu items. Stand outs were; sausage patties, pancake, coffee, fries (get the crispy ones), not so Philly cheese steak/trio tip (so good!), biscuits and gravy...basically everything we ordered was off the hook fabulous. My visit to Jody's Diner actually happened a couple years ago, and I'm just getting around to writing it up. Sorry for the delay... Mid-afternoon, Tuesday, August 29, 2017, I pulled into Evanston, Wyoming, checked into a motel, popped a top on a beer, and started to r-e-l-a-x after a long day of enjoying of all the beauty the State of Wyoming has to offer. Dinner time arrived shortly... but where to eat? No worries, as Jody's Diner is located just across the street from my motel! The diner, dive and drive-in gods has truly blessed me on this early Tuesday evening. I was greeted as I entered the restaurant by Rachael, who is an amazingly friendly person, and a wonderful hostess. As I walked in, Rachael smiled at me, greeted me, and asked if I was interested in breakfast, as breakfast is served anytime the restaurant is open. I said that actually I wasn't interested in breakfast, as I was in the mood for a chicken dinner. She seated me; actually I just sat down at a table near the entrance to the restaurant. She then brought me a decanter of ice water - very popular in western Wyoming and Montana - and told me she had guessed that I was interested in breakfast, as I looked like a trucker! Honey, that's a compliment! Rachael also took the time to tell me her favorites on the menu - chicken fried steak, turkey dinner, along with pork chops - and said if I had the time, I could sample everything on the menu, and I would be sure to find everything delicious. There is no doubt in my mind that everything on the menu is delicious, and I thank my gracious hostess, Rachael, for pointing that out to me. Jody's Diner attracts many truckers, travelers, and others who prowl Interstate 80, as the restaurant is just off the highway, and there are a many motels, and a couple of truck stops, within easy walking distance. The "old school" chalk blackboard posts the daily specials as you enter the restaurant. The menu reflects the true character of a Wyoming diner, and offers something for every taste. As my friendly server told me, breakfast is always available, as the restaurant caters to truckers, who always seem to have breakfast in mind. Daily specials are posted on the "old school" blackboard as you enter the restaurant. Tonight, I was in the mood for chicken, so I ordered "Chicken Fried Chicken," which is a chicken breast, pounded flat, battered and fried, just like a chicken fried steak. Naturally the chicken, along with the mashed potatoes are covered in gravy... Yum! A small bowl of corn is served on the side. For starters, the corn was nothing special... perhaps it came from a can? But wait... the "Chicken Fried Chicken," which was the main attraction... I nearly "flatlined" as I tasted it, as it was so good. The knife was merely decoration, as you could cut the chicken with a fork. The batter was golden crispy, not at all greasy, which complimented the tender chicken breast. The mashed potatoes were the kind you enjoy at your grandmother's place for Thanksgiving dinner. Add gravy to everything, and you've archived Evanston serendipity when it comes to a great dining experience. Yes, Jody's Diner is truly a diner, as it's retro, loud, complete with fluorescent lighting, and is a true gem-of-a-restaurant in Evanston. But, isn't that what you expect for a diner? The dining is comfortable, the staff is super-friendly, the food is delicious, and the restaurant is just across the street from several motels, at the east end of Evanston, Wyoming. That was 75 minutes of our day we'll never get back and a completely unremarkable lunch experience. The upside was the battered fries were OK, the fish plates and onion rings were not. My wife and I both ordered the fish plate, which was four deep-fried from frozen haddock pieces with a side. I grew up eating haddock every Friday and never during those years did I ever have a fish so overcooked as were the onion ring. Don't succumb to the Yelp or Travelocity reviews that lure you in to a believing that this establishment serves anything close to home cooked fare. I will admit that I have a soft spot in my heart for the wait staff at restaurants and don't fault them for the quality of the food they serve, so our waitress received a 25% cash tip and was the reason for the one star review, it bumped it from zero. Let's start with the big one food! The prices were quite reasonable breakfasts ranged from $7-$15. I had the breakfast sandwich with Ham on sourdough while my partner had the chicken fried chicken. We also added on a delightful hot chocolate. Our food was quite nice! Well seasoned well cooked and well portioned. Our waitress was kind and helpful. The ambience is a bit outdated with cafeteria style plastic chairs and an odd choice of acoustical tiled ceilings.
