I love stopping here, the staff is so friendly, they always cheer me up! It's almost like walking into an episode of Cheers!! Always packed, the bar has some table machines, in case you want to try your luck and there are plenty of tables where you can sit back and enjoy your meal with family and friends. When you crave a burger or you crave wings the Mill Street location is definitely your spot. The service is extremely friendly and really there to suggest sauces for your wings or the best burger to try. Staff also has that right amount of take care of you and don't interrupt your meal. I like that a lot. On this particular occasion I split a 1/2 pound burger and wings with a friend. The burger is cooked perfectly is great beef and the toppings are fresh and in the right ratio. The bun is grilled, buttery with crispy edges. Their sweet potato fries are the best in town IMO. They are crinkle cut and super crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The chicken wings are beer battered and are also super crispy. My favorite is the Parmesan garlic with regular sauce on the side. The wings are fried and then tossed in Parmesan cheese that has been enhanced with fresh garlic and herbs. There are mounds of the Parmesan mix served with the wings. We stopped by for lunch after visiting the pumpkin patch across the street. The service was great and food was great for bar food! In the back room they have tables with chalkboard tops so the kids could draw and also had a few games to keep them entertained. This is the official birthplace of New Bar Tuesday, or NBT as we've come to call it now. On a blustery winter's even, my buddy Clint J and I decided to grab a beer at some place new to us, and this was top of mind for some reason. Most of you are probably familiar of the Chicken Palace on S. Virginia, or the Chicken Shack on McCarran, well this is the Bar and Grill, located in the industrial section of Mill St.! Local is as local does, and the crowd at this spot is about as local as it gets! It's a watering hole or epic proportions, where multiple generations come to hang out, and I LOVE IT! With a full bar, some decent beer on tap, and an incredibly friendly and sassy bartender that'll make sure your day is just that much better, this is a great place to grab a drink. The atmosphere is old school with wood paneling, light oak bar, a pool table, etc. But you really come here for the colorful conversation, either between you and your friends, or just eavesdropping on the daily drama and chatter between the bartender and other patrons. On my visit, I walked in and found my seat at the end of the bar, and the bartender came right over. I had a few minutes before happy hour ended, 2-4-1, and Clint hadn't arrived, so I told her to ring me up for two, but just pour one for now. She immediately asked who I was waiting for, and insisted that she probably knew them, because she knew everyone that hung out there. I told her we'd never been in before, and she looked astonished, and insisted she did. Well Clint showed up, and in typical Reno fashion, he was intercepted by a member of his extended family at the other end of the bar! Turned out she didn't know him but she did know his uncle, and the rest of the night was like kicking it by a campfire with old friends. We closed the place down that night. We went to Joe Bob's and got a hamburger and chicken strips to go. My son couldn't wait to get it home to eat; he annihilated almost all the fries before we even got home! I got the chicken strips. THE BONANZA OF RANCH - BEST RANCH QUANTITIES IN RENO(?) I swung by "Joseph Robert's" Mill Street location during my lunch break today. I work not too far off, so I thought I would go and check out their meal special with my coworker. Their slogan, "World Class Ranch Dressing", really lives up to its hype. Not until today had I known how amazing their ranch special is. Too bad that the wings and fries are a bit on the pricey side. "Do you want ranch?" "Sure..." "Two?" "O-okay ..." Naive fool that I am, I should have opted for eight of them--one each to act as a personal spa for every one of my wings. She was nice enough to let me take the order to go, and saw me off with a total of four containers of the sublime ambrosia despite saying that her bosses get upset for not charging for each one individually (especially for specials!) . "You're not even supposed to have the special to go, but you're super special!" What a noble and charitable soul. On any other day, I would have nearly regretted the $1.34 I tipped on a to-go order (and two glasses of water), as well as the whole $1 for ranch, but seeing as I was awoken to this inestimable revelation and managed to get twice the amount for half the price, it's money well spent. Truly, World Class. I have never felt more welcome upon my departure. Next time, I'll make sure to get one container of ranch for each of my wings--I felt like a plebeian having to split a container for two each. Next Thursday can't come fast enough. Joe Bob's is great for weekday lunch or a quick Beer:30 after work. The menu here is pretty straightforward bar food. They do a good job with the deep fried stuff and the frozen patties for the burgers are of pretty good quality. I've gotten the fish and chips and burgers from here each time I have come. The last time I was able to get the wine burger $9 which included a side of beans, and I added an additional side of pulled pork for $2.5. I asked if they could do it bunless and they were happy to. I do need to note that it wasn't wrapped or anything. Just didn't bring me the bun, which was great with it topped with pulled pork! Parking is usually easily available if a little tight for larger trucks to park and the interior of the place hasn't changed much over the years. Seems to be kept pretty clean, though, which is nice considering it is a bar. Zero ambiance or atmosphere. You shouldn't be going here for anything other than sports on a TV and food to feed an empty stomach. Well, except for the service. We've had efficient service every time we have come. The staff is always pleasant and businesslike, this last time Shantel (according to my receipt) was great. Joe Bob's is famous for their chicken. Here I have to say is where my 4-star review comes in. It's fine, no complaints, but not something to go out of your way for either. Like I said, great for locals to get their well-priced grub, but not a place for visitors to make a special trip to. I haven't been here for a drink in years so I can't tell you how well they make a cocktail. Maybe that is a great reason to find me here after work some day soon. No matter where I visit in the US or beyond, there is no place better for chicken wings. Huge and meaty. No squishy skin and no frozen flavor. They are perfectly fried up, crunchy on the outside, juicy inside. Sauces on the side or tossed in are flavorful and because the wings are perfectly prepared, they don't get soggy. Only drawback - when I moved from Reno 7 years ago there were many locations, now I know only of the Mill Street one. I'll still make my way there as there is nothing compared. read more

The menu has many offerings but the many varieties of wings caught my eye. I ordered the garlic parmesan; they were fresh, hot and crispy. They were seasoned nicely and come with your choice of blue cheese and homemade ranch. They have a range of heat to please everyone. I was also introduced to a sauce I had not tried before, Boar's Head jalapeno Sauce, it was amazing. I personally recommend that you go with the "battered" option, as it adds another degree of texture and flavor. No Joe Bob's in the Reno/Sparks area ever did that to any customer. I acknowledged your bad attitude and hung up the first time. I found it quite childish to try to call me back. I have been to the Joe Bob's on Neil Rd, so. McCarran, Prater, and Mill, never ever been treated so unprofessionally in my life till now. Your response is awful. There was a Joe Bob's on So Virginia and Longley the best one after Neil road closed. I'm just saying I was very disappointed in your handling of service. But your right, you can defend your small business but as a customer that frequented your grill and never had any issues until you answered the phone, and the lengths you continue to harass my review, my 1st amendment right of freedom of speech let's me know how ugly a professional business woman would go to defend hers. We're regulars here and always get the best deals and the best service. They run great happy hour specials and I love the chicken wings, fingers, and sweet potato fries. Best of all though is Kim, the bartender. She always makes you feel welcomed and she's on top of your drinks and food. This Joe Bob's is soooo much better than the one on Prater. The food is awesome and the whole staff is friendly and fun. My boyfriend and I have come in to have lunch a couple of times. He always has the wings and says they are excellent. They are also MUCH bigger than wings at most places so you definitely get your money's worth. I try a variety of things on the menu. The burgers are great of course. I had the Buffalo Hooter sandwich and even though I got it "wimpy" it was pretty hot. They made me a plain one with no problems, no looks, and not even a rolling of the eyes...LOL. If you do get one of these and you are not into much spice I would suggest ordering the sauce on the side. It's hard to judge a lunch special where you get a burger and a beer for $5.95 too harshly, and in this case you don't have to. Definitely exceeded my expectations based on the location and look from the outside. Burger was cooked appropriately and was huge! It was well seasoned and tasty, but definitely couldn't make it through the whole thing without exploding. We added fries to our order because they don't come with the special, so if crispy fried potato is important to you make sure you do that as well. We were on our lunch break and couldn't have the beer that came with the special, but she was nice enough to offer to switch it out for a soda. Besides the burgers they serve your typical bar fare--chicken fingers, salads, nachos, etc. Ambiance is kind of dark and dreary, but it's a small place located in a pretty industrial area, so that's not super surprising. read more

Some of the worst service we've had. Waited 30 minutes for our simple orders of a shrimp basket and a fish basket. The waitress brought one bowl of Cole slaw even though it should have come with both meals. The waitress took the order of a table that came in long after we did. She brought our water said she'd be back to take our order and walked right past us and took the order of the other table! She brought our food with zero condiments. Asked if we would like some tartar sauce, yes we would. She never brought it. My husband got up to go look for her and the girl at the bar asked what we needed and got it for us. To top it off the salt, pepper and ketchup containers were filthy, sticky and nasty. I doubt seriously we'll be going back. Since my husband works at NV Energy right behind this place it's been convenient. It isn't much further to other sports bars on McCarran. There doesn't appear to be any kind of management to make sure customers are taken proper care of. read more

I'm a big fan of this local chain for making some of the best wings and other chicken dishes around. This place is near my job and a convenient place for me to stop for lunch or happy hour. One strike against this however, is that they do not offer the mashed potatoes and chicken gravy side like the downtown location does. Also, while perusing the menu, I noticed that the entire section of their menu that featured the fried chicken meals was crossed off. So I am not sure if this is temporary or if this location is going in a different direction or offering a limited menu. I ordered some beer battered mushrooms to go and they were delicious, juicy and perfect. They have also added a few new sauces to go with their wings that look exceptional. Went two weeks ago and again yesterday. It was just as good as I remember. The bartender remembered my name and the names of everyone in our party from two weeks ago which was awesome. Went here to eat on my wifes lunch break which is an hour, we got there fast. It took too long to get our food, we had to take it to go. She got the spicy quesadilla, which left her with a stomach ache and did not taste good. I got the "famous wings" they were gross!!!! Why would anyone bread a chicken wing? I took a bite in the car about 2 minutes after I received food. The wing was super soggy already. The sauce tastes very olivey??? I also ended up with a stomach ache that evening. So I've been going to joebobs for around 20 years and never have i had such bad service as i did tonight..first the waitress tells me they don't have rolling rock ..remember I've been ordering this same beer for around 20 years from Joe bobs , then she tells me there is no game day special on the chicken wings..THERES ALWAYS AN NFL GAME DAY SPECIAL ON THE WINGS!!..then i ask to watch the play off game and she says that tv doesn't work!?..wtf!?..IT DOESN'T WORK!?..WOW THAT'S STRANGE..then my son had a shirley temple and he drank it and it was in a Styrofoam cup , once he drank it he destroyed the cup..ok he should not have done that but when he asked for another one she looked at him and said YOU DID THAT ON PURPOSE!..and i don't think she was joking..then she got upset about the tip..i gave her 5 for a 31 dollar bill..also she tried to charge me for 3 beers when i only had 2 buds..worst experience I've had..i guess that's not bad for 20 years though..lol read more

We really like this place. It always has good food. The lunchtime waitresses aren't great but Erin the bartender is AMAZING! She knows you by first name after seeing you 1 time, always is fun to talk to and all around a great person. She make the place in the afternoon/evening.
