DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I called the company to confirm That they use a form of carpet shield and was told yes, just ask for it from the drivers. I asked the drivers and they said no. They had 3 skimpy pieces of fabric that I wear they DIDNT walk on. So I had to purchase plastic covering to prevent them from destroying my new carpet. The driver was completely unprofessional. His behavior was unwarranted. He told me "I had too much stuff" and that I was "taking too long" to review the High Value Inventory Sheet before signing, as I noticed that items were indeed missing. His behavior escalated. He began yelling at the top of his lungs telling me that "he's not going to wait for me to verify my shipment". He began calling me derogatory names both in English and Spanish inside my home. Then he had a temper tantrum and took ALL of the papers with him and would not give me copies and rushed outside. When I asked him for my copies he said "you have what you have", called me more disrespectful names, continued to yell in front of my new neighbors... completely embarrassing. On top of them just throwing my boxes and stuff anywhere. They stacked big boxes on top of small boxes. I kept hearing them slam things around. But when I asked them to stop. None of them spoke English well enough to understand they kept saying "yea, yea" or "uh huh" and then smiled. Please don't use these drivers or company again. He shows up the next day and takes the treadmill and everything else he abandoned and goes on vacation. Our stuff is rotting in 200 degree heat because they have no drivers. The supervisor, Ron, who showed up at my home on July 24, 2023 was extremely disrespectful and should not be allowed into any other customer's home. He disregarded my wishes in handling my high value items, he started going through them on his own when I wasn't present in the room to monitor him, told me he'd been doing this job for over 20 years while threatening to make his crew leave, and told me to find someone to complete my move among many other things. He boldly gave me his name and stated he did not care if I reported his interactions to the company. His gross lack of customer service, aggression, and disrespect should not be experienced by anyone else. I was a single female present in my home and was so upset by his aggression, I called the Quality Assurance rep to return and supervise the rest of the move that day, and also to ensure Ron did not return for the rest of my move. He clearly had no respect for me or my property. The rest of the team was wonderful and I have nothing but positive comments for them all! They fulfilled my request for how to properly handle my high value items. They even apologized for Ron's behavior and disrespect. From my understanding this is Ron's baseline demeanor and behavior. There are other contractors the government can utilize to move service member's, and those that boldly and aggressively disrespect their customers with no regard or fear of consequences should not be allowed to do so. read more

(and I've literally moved 27 times in the last 40 years) The coordinator Carla was amazing and worked with me as we were traveling out of the country up until 2 days before the move. This could have made this even more stressful, but Carla clearly understood the needs and the timeline and went above and beyond to ensure things worked smoothly!!! Best coordinator I've engaged with!!! The packers showed up Monday on time, they immediately assessed the work and began packing up the house. The three women were done packing up our entire 3 bedroom/3.5 bathroom house in 6.5 hours! They were extremely careful with our belongings and communicated the entire time they were at the house. On Tuesday the movers were on site at the scheduled time and by noon time had packed up the entire house into a truck. They were extremely careful not to cause damage to the house. William, the team lead was very organized and in control of the team and the work being done. HUGE kudos' to William. As this was a local move, they immediately drove from Alexandria, VA to the new location in Washington, DC. Again they immediately got to work. Most of our belongings went into a storage POD on our property and they were extremely sensitive to space conservation. William is a Tetras Pro!!! What didn't fit was supposed to go into our basement, but the building contractor was behind. The team worked with me to identify an alternate solution in the house and paid particular attention to ensuring things were stacked in the center of the room in the house so as to not disrupt contractor work. Both teams had a clear lead and work cohesively and to get the job done with no disruption at all. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND tailored move to anyone moving local or long distance. read more

The moving crew were very polite and showed up on time right to the minute they said they would be there. They protected my floors and were very tidy as they wrapped and packed my belongings. The team lead was very clear in making sure certain items that were for sea travel were identified and those items that were air shipments were separated. The team worked very well together and were highly accommodating. An example is when a roofing company came to my residence to drop off the materials to fix my roof. The moving crew staged a number of items in my driveway. Recognizing the truck needed to get int driveway to lift the material onto the roof they ran out and moved all the items so the truck could get in. Our family has been moving around for fourteen years, and Joe Moholland was, by far, the worst pack out we've ever experienced. Two employees arrived over an hour late, boxes weren't packed properly, for example, my dish rack from the kitchen was packed in the same box as my master bedroom linens.... a full length mirror was wrapped in paper, they refused to empty a wooden chest filled with books ( they just wrapped it in paper) they at first flat out refused to pack up our storage unit (even though the representative prior to pack out saw our unit and said it was no problem) When I asked to check the inventory sheets prior to signing I was told that I didn't need to check anything, that I just had to sign- I then pulled up an email from his own company stating that I MUST check inventory sheets before signing, his response "I feel bad for your moving crew they don't have time for this" while taking the extra 20 minutes it took to check my belongings I found three packed boxes not labeled or tagged. At the storage unit, boxes were tossed around, rearranged poorly and they broke two items. I have uploaded photos- another crew had to come back out to the house and storage unit to repack items since the driver didn't want the liability on him ( he saw how poorly items were packed) the driver was fantastic at seeing these issues, and everyone knew of this crew, apparently they have a reputation for pack outs like this. While unpacking, which took weeks to sort, we found picture frames not wrapped and just placed in random boxes (glass and frames broken) they lost two power cords, parts of a leather wall canvas, broken mugs, three broken shelving units, they put a Mac computer in a box with garage items and didn't label it- and we can't locate the power cord for that as well- Thankful for the unloading crew, (obviously a different company contracted by the government) and driver that helped unpack, they couldn't believe how bad our items were packed, they stayed late and unpacked everything in the house for us, that was a big help! read more

This company is horrible. Just had our items delivered and the team consisted of a mother and son duo along with an extra guy they told us that just happened to be available to help. (Byron and Jermaine). I forgot the woman's name. We were moving into our place in Norfolk,Va. They were highly unorganized, they didn't tell us that we should be checking the items off as they came in, but luckily this wasn't our first move. One of the guys after 3hrs said oh yea you should've been checking them off. I had to go back and physically check for blue tags on the furniture with the checklist through out the house and make them tell the number as they came in. The only time the "driver" lady helped was at the end to make sure the document was signed. They did not actually put the beds together, they left trash around the area and tape on a door they used to prop open,and they grew impatient when we had to review our high valued items. Additionally we helped move the majority of the furniture inside because they were that unorganized and slow. They had no process. We provided water to ensure they were hydrated, and they left us with a half done job almost 9 hrs later... which would've been longer IF we did not carry, notate, organize furniture ourselves. They also did not have the tools to put together beds nor the knowledge of how to. On top of that we one of the movers looked out of it. His words started to slur, his eyes were rolling- I literally had to give him water but he said his eyes were sensitive to the light. Later he put sun glasses on while moving... but all of sudden that's a thing? This was horrible and as a military family we had to take additional time from our jobs to make up for this terrible job. Unacceptable, and now We're also tracking we're not the only ones that experienced this poor service this summer so FIX IT or LOSE SERVICE. The reviews are going up as we speak through the military. I CANNOT say enough good things about the company and the 2 men (José and Carlos) that moved me. The company representative (Carla) was in touch frequently with updates and if anything had changed since my initial booking..the drivers contacted me if they could arrive at a time a bit earlier than my booking, and I was ready and said yes..They arrived when they said. They were very careful with my items and wrapped cloths around stuff...they were also very careful at my new place as the entry hall was long and narrow. All of my items were treated with respect. I wish that we had the experience some other people had. We did a military move with Joe Mohalland and had a terrible experience. First, they wouldn't commit to reasonable timelines. I lived at a large apartment building that required elevator and loading dock reservations, so the uncertainty they put into the process really made things harder than they needed to be. They showed up late to the pack, load, and delivery days. They committed to a certain delivery date and then we found out with less than a day's notice that they were actually delivering several days earlier than expected! Second, things weren't packed well and we had quite a few things break (including a bed frame, which they incorrectly reassembled). Third, they only delivered with two employees and didn't unpack/unwrap (which they are required to do). This forced us to race to unpack items and we ultimately needed to figure out what to do with their boxes and packing materials, since they didn't haul them away on a timely basis. Fourth, they refused to give us copies of the delivery paperwork. I'm *still* waiting for the paperwork. Finally, it was obvious that their employees didn't speak to each other. We were getting confirmation e-mails from them committing to certain things, were told other things by one of their work crews, and then were delivered something totally different by another work crew. I have no reason to believe that my experience was representative, given their other reviews. It was just an incredibly frustrating process that left us wondering how things would play out from beginning to end. If you're going to use them, get the household goods coordinator from the DoD involved *really* quickly. Demand timely communication, refuse to sign anything if they don't have copies for you on site, and escalate ASAP. If you don't, you'll blow a week's worth of leave like I did. Edit: Let's dock another star. I called at 0916 on 19 July 2021 (800-241-1321) and spoke to a customer service agent. Apparently their customer service department isn't the same as the people who watch social media reviews. They didn't have anything to tell me, couldn't offer much past an apology, and that was it. The moving company was very professional. They did a great job of keeping me informed of the arrival windows and actually arrived in those set windows. The packers did amazing work. I was surprised how two people boxed up an entire house in the time they did. The movers also arrived on time and treated my possessions as their own. Specifically when we mentioned two items having family significance, they took the extra time to wrap, box, and wrap again to ensure a safe transit. I have moved several times during my career and used a moving service every time. My experience with this company was by far the worse. Their entire crew spoke Spanish the entire time in front of me even though they were capable of speaking English (my primary language). The crew was laughing and joking in Spanish the entire time, totally unprofessional. They cross-threaded the screws into my entertainment center so bad that now it is garage because I need an extraction kit to disassemble it so I can throw it away since they put it togther wrong. Durable items I have owned for years were broken. For example, the frame on a favorite print of mine had a corner broken clean off, there's a hole in the back of my dresser, and most other things have Joe Moholland's signature touch on them. I wanted a nationwide company to move us from Takoma Park to Santa Fe. I interviewed 3 companies and although the other 2 came in under this bid, I choose Joe Moholland for our move. The Sales Rep Diane L. was the reason I choose them. She was very experienced in what to look for and her questions asked of me. I could tell right away that I would choose them because of her experience. Diane arranged for a big piece of art to be created as well as our second car to be shipped. One stop shopping. I love the new slimmed down crate system. On the day of the move, the team that was assigned to move us worked quickly and efficiently under "not normal conditions" w/C-19 plus 2 of our 3 elevators were out. These guys were like Iron Men. It was a horrible pack out experience with Joe Moholland Moving. They arrived 2 hours late, took a break after working an hour, did not bring enough packing material to pack the kitchen, they actually forgot to pack the kitchen until I said something and had to come back to pack it 2 days later. The stuff was not packed well and the tape and boxes were falling apart when I received it at the final destination. They did not bring bike boxes as they claimed they didn't know there were bikes even though it clearly stated that on the pack out survey. The wood bar arrived with a big scratch on the top of it. Nothing was labeled well or numbered correctly. The movers who unpacked the stuff said they've never seen anything so poorly packed and unorganized. The move from hell. It started with them postponing the morning they were supposed to start packing, basically just saying they would come back the next day. When the packing started it just got worse. They threw items into boxes without care, they even used a trash bag to pack at one time. They labeled many items simply "books" or "papers" that had nothing of the sort in them and even called one box "items". Every box I unpack has something broken and I cannot find a good number of things due to the horrendous organization of the packing. They had one worker with them who was not on any paperwork, spoke no English, and was very rough with all my belongings. To make it worse, they lied about the weight of the move and then waited almost 10 days after delivery to tell me the weight. I moved into that house myself and have the weight ticket top prove that they overcharged me by almost 3,000 lbs. Overall Joe Moholland moving is atrocious, likely scamming customers, and I would not use them ever again. read more

We have used Moholland moving several times and always had great results. When we had to move out of a mold infested house on Ft. Meade - and clean all our property as it left the house - we turned to them again. They delivered. This move was extremely complex. Moholland had to work with the local ServPro franchise and develop a plan to clean and pack all 17,000 pounds of our property. Tyrone took the lead and coordinated directly with ServePro. They set a week aside and then rented a trailer to stay on site, so that they could store property outside the house as soon as it was clean. During execution, the Molholland team was extremely professional. They worked great with the ServPro folks and were very careful not to pack anything until ServPro had cleaned it. Normally, movers prefer to pack and then load the truck. Ivan, Chase, Kalil and Robert had no issues with clean, pack, load. They completed the pack out in three days. On the delivery day, we were supposed to get snow starting at 1 PM. Tyrone sent a team of seven to ensure we were unloaded before the snow started to fall. Despite the huge crew, the delivery was not chaotic. Everything stacked neatly, disassembled equipment re-assembled and they cleaned behind themselves. Totally professional, customer oriented. Previously, we had three good moves with Molholland. Now we have four good moves and a rescue from an unbelievable nightmare! read more

This was our first overseas move and they took some of the worry away by explaining the process. They were very respectful with our items while packing and loading and laid mats on the floor while loading to not mess up or ruin the carpet in our home. I wish they wouldn't write like doctors on the inventory sheet. It's going to bite us if something gets lost and I can't read the sheet for claims purposes. The three men who paked us out, stole about $2000 worth of stuff from us. One that they weren't smart on was my husband leather Cowboys Jacket he revived as a gift from his mother for Christmas only a year sho. When they saw it in the closet, they cheer about it and praised how nice it was. It didn't show up to our new destination. They didn't care about the way they handed our goods. Threw things around. Our crib, we have only had for less than two years is broken, and now unusable for my 6 month old to use. I'm so very disappointed and hurt that we lost so much, and that the men from this company didn't care for the way they handled our goods. read more

The crew did a good job-but when there was a problem with the number of crates on the truck they wanted me to simply trust that the were going to take 90% of my belongings without signing then come back with another truck. When I asked to speak to the next level leader to further understand the issue explaining that I did not trust them. He hung up on me. Then he yelled at the crew leader for giving his phone number. This is terrible customer service and worse toxic work environment. If this is how they treat their customers and employees, how do you think they will treat your belongings? Only reason the 4 stars at this point- I don't know what my stuff looks like since I haven't gotten it. They planned for 2 day packing and 1 day load. They sent 2 ladies to pack day 1. They were ok. I can't read one of the manifests they did for my stuff. The loaders did it in 1/2 a day and were wonderful. No damage to my walls. Lots of communication and they explained everything to me. They showed up on time and were very kind and respectful. They seemed (and the ladies too) to take care of my stuff as best as movers can. So far, no complaints. I would strongly caution you against hiring Moholland. We had an extremely negative experience with them. Their employees damaged one of our high value items during an unpack and then lied about it. Caught him red handed, on video no less. The people they use are generally unprofessional and cannot be trusted in your house even with intense supervision. Management was not very helpful in resolving the situation, despite repeated calls. Had to go through a drawn out claims process to be reimbursed for the item they damaged. Absolutely unprofessional in every respect. Begin with the move date: it had to be changed because of poor communication by the person who originally scheduled us, so we couldn't move on the intended date. Then the mover mismanaged his schedule, showed up at around 8 pm, and tried to convince us that we needed to stay well pass midnight on the new move date to sign off on his packing. He repeatedly lied to us about his status, insulted me for being unwilling to trust him, and pretended that he didn't have the contact information for anyone at the moving company to resolve this issue. I lost the better part of a day and night dealing with his lies, without a single person I could contact at the company until the next morning. I'm currently unpacking my boxes, and there are loose knives, not even secured safely with paper and tape. And the mover inexplicably wrapped up my baby monitor with an open perfume container, so that expensive piece of electronics is sticky and dead. Pros: - Pre-moving quote was accurate. - Movers showed up on time and finished on time. So far nothing was lost. Cons: - The movers...one of them was very nice and worked well. Of the other two, one (the lead mover) was kind of rude. The other mover was saying he wasn't even supposed to have been there and he wasn't going to get paid for that move, but he was going to stay anyway (probably working on his tip before the move had even started!). - A dresser broke and after submitting a claim and calling Mayflower 4 times to find out the status of my claim, I still haven't heard back from them (even though Vic from claims promised someone was going to call me back). This company represents Mayflower in this area. My overall experience...I probably wouldn't move again with Mayflower. read more
