A standout patty melt and efficient service, just avoid the harsh backroom lighting. I visited Joe Schmoe's at 5123 Ball Rd in Cypress for a business lunch with a vendor on June 5, 2026, around 12:30 pm. Parking was straightforward, and I found a spot immediately out front. From the outside, the restaurant has a classic 1950s walk-up feel. There is an extra patio area with sun shades that can open, which creates a nice roofed outdoor environment on cooler days. The ordering process is efficient. You order immediately upon entering, grab a number, and pick a table. The staff then tracks you down to deliver your food. The entire property, inside and out, felt very clean and well maintained. Tables were bused immediately as diners left, and the self-serve drink station was kept up nicely. The only negative aspect of the space was the lighting in the backroom. It uses a harsh spotlight style, and sitting in our booth literally felt like being under a spotlight. It was not pleasant. Fortunately, the rest of the restaurant features nicer, softer lighting that is much easier on the eyes. Drinks include Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, tea, lemonade, and a selection of beers and diet soda. I ordered a Tillamook cheese patty melt as a combo with crinkle fries and a Heath Bar concrete for dessert. The patty melt stood out as exceptionally well-made. The onions were a distinct highlight, the Tillamook cheese melted perfectly, the burger was cooked to the right temperature, and the rye bread tasted fresh. The crinkle fries were cooked perfectly, and the Heath Bar concrete was a very tasty way to end the meal. While I don't remember the exact prices, overall pricing seemed reasonable for the quality of the food, especially for a casual business lunch. The staff was friendly and accommodating. One practical note for anyone planning a visit: the menu link on Google is currently a broken link that directs to a hot dogs page. You need to go directly to https://www.joeschmoes.com/menu to see their actual menu. Bottom line: I would absolutely return to Joe Schmoe's. This restaurant is best for anyone looking for good BBQ, sandwiches, hot dogs, and burgers. It had been about a year since my last visit with family and friends. I wasn't going to ever go back after our last visit. The reason being; the owners unprofessional yelling and cursing. While we were waiting for our order, the owner starting yelling and cursing on the phone to someone. My friend and self grab our small children and went to the back room. We said "we would never return but sadly I did, last week. I brought a friend, her son and my daughter after NFL. After ordering we sat in the newer back room, which is very nice. I realized I got my daughter f.f. not tots. When I told the girl I ran into on the way back up to the front. She loudly and rudely told me I can't change my I order. I explained "yes I can, I'm the customer". She proceeded to be rude. I went to the person in charge, he changed them. Not happily by the way. He then brought them to our table. He told us the owner doesn't allow them to change things, once an orders been started. He followed with stating numerous times that he was in charge. I guess you would have to be there to understand the frustration in the way and how many times he said it. So I swung by this hot dog place I've been hearing about. Gave their hot dog a shot and decided to spice things up with a chili dog as well. The regular hot dog was alright, pretty much what you'd expect. The chili dog, on the other hand, was a bit better. It had that extra kick that made it more enjoyable, though I wouldn't call it a game-changer. As for the service, it was okay. The staff did their jobs, but there wasn't much warmth or enthusiasm. You get your order in, and you get your food, and that's about it. No real complaints, but nothing to really praise either. The place has a relaxed vibe, typical for a hot dog joint. It's alright if you're in the area and need a quick bite, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Overall, it's a solid 3 stars from me. HAMBURGER IS QUITE SMALL FOR $3.75. Fresh cut fries also good. Frozen Custard is quite good, but don't let the name fool you, most soft serve ice cream back east is called frozen custard. After several business' moving in & out of this location, I think we finally found a "wiener"! Our delicious Reuben Dog had that special "snap". Chili cheese fries could have used a bit more cheese. The cheeseburger was tasty. Not thrilled about refills costing extra. At least 1 free refill would be fair. Want to try the frozen custard next & looking forward to trying all the hot dog toppings, even the one with the sour cream & tortilla chips. Prices for dogs & burgers are just a tad high. Here's the rundown: Mac N Cheese Hot Dog "Bacon wrapped dog w/ mustard, home made Mac N Cheese, topped w/ cheddar cheese & bacon bits" They got me at "Bacon wrapped dog" lol. The only thing I changed was getting mayo instead of mustard. I like mustard, just not on hot dogs for some reason. The verdict: Delicious. Mac N Cheese was good. Wonderful first time experience on a Friday night. Our reservations were a bit late 10 pm, but it was worth it when they seated my friend and I towards the back corner booth fit for 4-6 people, but it was just us two.The black truffle creamed spinach was to die for I will go back just for that. I wanted to try their huge chocolate cake, but after our meal I was too stuffed to take another bite of anything. What a great surprise! Awesome hot dogs! I always seem to get the same thing, the Babe Ruth dog and chili cheese fries. This dog has sauerkraut and grilled onions with mustard. Place looks like a large chain, but I think it's the only place. Would highly recommend. read more

She was so rude to me on the phone when I called in my order right now. Hung up on me the first time I called claiming that she didn't hear me, but if she had said something when she first answered, then I would've known she was ready to take my order which didn't happen! But it won't stop our family from going there. We love the food and the great service provided by the other!

Yesterday, I got the chicken wrap and it was fabulous. Tonight, I had dinner and just the salad filled me up. The rest of the dinner I took back to my hotel room. My waitress Kayla, was special, sweet and memorable. While taking my order, she doodled a heart and that peaked my curiosity. Waitresses sometimes write little notes of appreciation but this is the first time I got a heart on my ticket. I asked if she does that with all her customers and she said no. She said she doomed it because I was special! I don't hear that much so I ended up speechless! I thanked her and gave her a cash tip. I plan on coming back to Daltons as much as possible for the great food, and KAYLA! THANK YOU!
