Passed by this place 100x but never tried it until today. Ordered a meal with Cole slaw and bbq beans as sides. I thought the Cole slaw was the perfect side! It's not too mayo-y like KFC Cole slaw. It's a more thick cut, fresh, and crunchy with a very mild taste. The potatoes were similar to soft fries. We ate this at home with Trader Joe's garlic sauce and it was so good. Wanting to try a place for a quick lunch near work, we went to Pittsburgh Chicken & Subs. The interior was small, simple, and warm, but after getting your food you can sit at the covered tables outdoors if you would to "dine in." We opted for three of the 2-piece broasted chicken lunch specials ($9.99 + tax from 11AM-3PM) which come with a choice of side (coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, or baked beans) and bread roll. We also bought some bottled beverages. The chicken was very juicy and crispy despite not being deep fried. The potatoes were tasty and served in a generous portion. I also found the coleslaw light and refreshing. I will say that the chicken and potatoes were a bit salty for my tastes, so next time I will ask for light seasoning. I believe our chicken came as default cajun flavor, so next time I would opt to try lemon pepper or original. Service was fine, there was minimal interaction as you pay at the cashier and wait for your food to take with you. Overall, I enjoyed trying broasted chicken for the first time. read more

I stopped by this place after driving by it for years. Parked in the back when i walked in it was exactly what I thought it would be. Not disappointed at all. I didnt know what to order so I just got the 2 piece dinner. Im not sure if I just didnt understand or she didnt understand but I asked for 2 thighs, baked beans and potato salad. Paid my bill and went to wait in the car as she told me it would be about 15 minutes. It was abuot 5 minutes and she even brought it to me. Thats great service! Anyways I ended up eating it the next day. The 4 stars though is because I didnt get what I orderd. I had 1 breast, 1 chicken leg, some very flavorless and starchy potatoes, a small portion of baked beans and some white sauce. Anyways the chicken, excellent. The beans, rich and flavorful. The original owners would be so proud! I'll always remember the lovely couple who opened Pittsburg Chicken way back in the early 90's. I remember when they told us they were retiring and selling the store to someone else. I instantly thought it would never be the same!!! I was very wrong!!! The new owners have absolutely maintained the quality of their entire menu without changing anything. That's amazing in my opinion and they are VERY friendly as well. They are very much an important part of this community. If you are looking for juicy broasted chicken and potatoes than this place WILL NOT disappoint. We haven't been there in years. We were close, so we decided to stop in and try it again. The owners that we remembered were no longer there. We were disappointed, but we were there and we were hungry. The lady seemed nice that took our order. The chicken was tasty and had nice flavor. We both had original and all white meat. Then we got to the potatoes....Meh. We both didn't like them. We could have mashed them and eat them that way. They weren't cooked all the way. He got macaroni salad and I got coleslaw... we ate it because we were hungry. For some reason I got a hockey puck that turned out to be a dinner roll which was not eaten. The place didn't look anything like it used to. We weren't there for the look of the place, just the chicken. Lastly, the smell inside was... breathe through your mouth. It definitely wasn't the same smell that was there before. At least we went and tried it, but unfortunately we will not be back. This is the best chicken bursting with flavor and seasoned how you like from a tiny easy to look over spot. They have different seasonings they will add upon your request (I do lemon pepper)! The chicken is juicy and never dry. The potato's are pressure cooked the same as the chicken and seasoned likewise. They are delicious when dipped in their homemade ranch recipe (if your into ranch) and also have a spicy ranch if you like it hot! I usually buy extra for anything else I want to use it with:) Definitely give it a try if your in the mood for delicious crispy, seasoned, and juicy chicken. I've been here before but it's 25 miles away and if traffic is bad, nah, I'll pass. I always prefer supporting the independent mom pop business! This is a tiny mom and pop shop with no interior dining space. There are 4 outdoor round picnic tables with solid sunshades. Frankly the only thing I've tried about 6 times is the chicken. It's pressure cooked/roasted so it's not deep fried. I like to think it's healthier. It's never greasy but the pieces are small. The plate comes with baked sliced potato slices with seasoned salt and a choice of one side. The side comes in a small individual serving size. I get the potato salad which doctored store bought but I like it. The pork and beans are out of a can. But sometimes I like the backyard choices with a bit of this and that. Check their menu out because they offer subs too. The food is prepared to order so if it's lunch time be prepared to wait about 15 minutes. Chicken is not seasoned. Rear parking is limited as is street parking. I wish they'd go to larger pieces and sides. Next door there is a pasties shop aka as dough stuffed with some kind of meat filling. I've only been there once and it was delicious so while you're at the chicken place getting chicken or fish and chips or a sub, you can also try a pastie. read more
