The service really stood out -- very friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. I ordered the BLT ($13.95), and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. The bacon was fresh and nicely cooked, and the thick tomato slices made a big difference. Simple, well-executed, and satisfying. Other items at the table included Oatmeal Works ($11.95) and The Couch ($19.95), which looked generous and hearty. Prices are what you'd expect for a local sit-down breakfast spot, with a total bill coming in just over $50 for three people. Overall, this was a pleasant visit with good food and excellent service. I should have updated my review sooner! We have been consistently coming here for the past few years and it has become our go-to spot for breakfast. Some of our favorites: The Salinas omelette - artichokes, mushroom, tomato, jack and cheddar cheese. Our choice sides: beans and corn tortillas. Portions are big and perfect to share. Healthy turkey sandwich - loaded with red onions, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. Love this on sour dough bread. Belgian waffle - topped with berries and bananas and tons of butter. Always perfect with a cup of joe, which is pretty strong in comparison to other diners. Love. The menu is pretty extensive and for sure there something for anyone. Also check out the weekday specials. Service is super friendly. And depending on time of day, you will get your meal timely. Weekday mornings are less crowded lately especially now that summer is over. Music streams the diner and really takes you back to the 80's. So enjoy, all you Gen X! read more

I support your Long Beach locations and I tried to avoid her at all costs cause she gives us the worst Customer Service ever now she's in Los Alamitos. Wonderful breakfasts and great staff... everything is made to order and brought to your table hot and fresh... the only downside is seating... unfortunately, unless you're willing to wait if you have a party larger than 4 it will be challenging to find a seat... if it's one to 4 the chances are much much better... take a chance and enjoy some good food. read more

The Pot Holder is a solid neighborhood spot I keep coming back to. The food and service are consistently good, and there are plenty of options so everyone can find something. It's also a little nostalgic for me, because I used to go to the Pot Holder in Long Beach back in my teen years. My go-to is the veggie omelette, and the food comes out fast every time. On Saturdays and Sundays they also have a $10 Bloody Mary and mimosa special. Overall, this is a great regular breakfast run spot. read more

A LB staple, Los Alamitos edition. Came in with my boys for a Saturday morning breakfast and was surprised that we were seated immediately. The interior was small, but they had a large patio with lots of seating. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered the Tim's Dug Out, the Super Spuds, and a straight up waffle. All the food came out fresh and hot (minus the mushrooms in the Super Spuds, which were slightly browned but still mostly raw). The portions were enormous. read more

Haven't been here in years, but I was craving some breakfast and figured I'd change it up. I ordered the "Mexican Omelette" and it didn't let me down. :) The service was great! I'm not sure what was expecting, but I was waited on the entire time, and the woman making the rounds knew how to handle business! Every need was handled and my cup was never empty. Love the location close to home and places I run errands. I get food to go but it is made quickly and stays hot until I get home. Staff is friendly. Food is great. The service was great despite us being asked to move from the original table we sat at for a bigger group. It was fine since we hadn't ordered yet. Service is the reason why the rating is higher than what the quality of the food was. The food tasted alright although my mom did get the runs about an hour after eating here. She had the omelette. She didn't even really eat any of the turkey bacon since it was really soft and not crispy at all. She also said there wasn't a lot of egg and just flavor wise the food wasn't great. She'd give it a 1/5. My French toast was burnt and just a little too hard for me. Not what I'm used to. Flavor was alright, I've had better at mom & pop diners. My mom liked them since they weren't raw. The potatoes (super spuds) wasn't too bad. I'd give it a 2/5. Despite the toppings I still felt like it lacked flavor. The restaurant in general was clean and nice. Not too big or small. It was a little busy so we thought it'd taste better. It was our first time here and in the area so maybe we just didn't choose the right food options but we won't be coming back again to find out :/ read more

Today I asked for my Belgian waffle to be made, then dipped in pancake batter to be put back on the griddle.... It was bidi bidi bom bom Selena!!! We have made this our usual brunch spot after playing basketball on Sunday mornings. Our group ranges from 6-8 people and we prefer to dine in their outdoor patio. We have always gotten quick service and the staff is always friendly. That's one of the reasons we keep going back. The menu has so many choices but a lot of us have our favorites. I've been trying to order something new each visit and have not been disappointed. This week I will highlight 3 that were ordered and thoroughly enjoyed. Not many places have squaw bread so I was happy to get it here. The portion is pretty generous so half of my meal went home with me. A few weeks back I tried their stuffed French toast with cream cheese and I have to say it was good but pretty rich. Pleasantly surprised, considering a lot of the reviews. They have a nice spacious patio. The server was nice and attentive and even brought our dog a water bowl. My wife and I came to the Potholder in Los Alamitos this morning. My wife got a notice from Yelp and decided to try it. We chose to sit inside booth seating, but they also have a lot of outdoor seating if you prefer to be outside? I ordered the Frankie Special: 2 eggs, 2 french toast or 2 pancakes, with 2 sausage or 2 bacon. I opted for an upgrade to the waffle for a slight up charge. I chose the sausage and had my eggs scrambled. The eggs were fluffy and the sausage was cooked perfectly with a good flavor. I ordered a side of salsa for my eggs. The Salsa is homemade. None of that bottled stuff. Good flavor and not too hot. The waffle was good,but I prefer it to be a bit crisper. They put cinnamon in their batter and had a good flavor. Next time I will ask it to be cooked crisper. My Wife had the chorizo scramble real chorizo which she really enjoyed. The egg to chorizo ratio was very good. The corn tortillas were very good. They were very fast with the coffee refills. We had the fresh orange juice, it was delicious. Our server Faus gave great service . We will be back soon read more

Disastrous breakfast!! Not going to bother coming back here...ever! Ordered extra crispy bacon, it comes out limp as can be..."please exchange". The bacon comes back crispy, eggs are literally ice cold! Like in the fridge for our dogs! OK, let's try the pancakes....so cold the butter just sits there...WTH is going on here? 7/24/22 This was hubby's suggestion. Not bad for good hearty breakfast/meals. There were a total of three locations one in downtown one in Long Beach and one in Los Alamitos. I picked the Los Alamitos location because it seemed like it's easier to get to in terms of parking maybe or less crowded. (I thought LB & DTLA would be too crowded w/ more wait time). Sure enough, we got seated right away at this location-patio vs inside. We chose the patio. It's overcast & it was perfect. We got here about 9ish & before the rush came in. Tuesday is our server & she's pleasantl, fairly attentive. Coffee is decent. I would've given it a 4 star if there weren't an abundance of flies circling like vultures. My Tim's Dugout was pretty good, delicious & hearty. It came with some "special spuds" which is like an omelet w/ hash brown & veggies,avocado slices & sour cream. Plus it was paired with stuffed French toast, choice between cream cheese or PB, chose PB. Talk about hearty, huh?! Hubby had his usual chorizo but it took awhile for his tortillas to arrive so we waited for that & my Cholula. This hidden gem was the perfect stop for a late breakfast! The dog friendly patio was what I needed since I had my fur baby with me as we had several places to go to that day.
