Delicious and fresh Tex-Mex! Joe Taco has a really cool patio for evenings or cooler days during the summer. Interestingly, they also allow dogs to accompany their people onto the patio, which I love! Service is always fast, even though this place gets crazy busy during mealtimes due to its proximity to all the medical offices. The staff is friendly, and for being a smaller restaurant, it doesn't ever feel overly crowded. I love the Stuffed Avocado - stuffed with chicken and topped with their sour cream sauce. The cool thing about JT is that they have about a half dozen meats and just as many sauces that you can use to customize almost every dish to your liking! Makes for lots of different combinations to keep things interesting. They also have a delicious chicken chopped salad, fresh grilled fajita chicken, crisp greens, black bean and corn salsa, bacon, and yummy avocado ranch dressing. Today was my first visit to this restaurant. We drove all day long from Kansas to bring my daughter back home here after she came up for a visit. After driving all day, we literally chose this restaurant because we could walk from the hotel, we weren't about to get back in a car. As we walked in we were immediately greeted by a sweet hostess. My husband teased we had a huge party coming and a little waitress nearby got in on the ornery entertainment. We were seated and then quickly greeted by our server, Trenton. He was fast, efficient, and a great host for our evening. Our meal came quickly and he checked on us often and always with a smile. He was a complete delight and made our evening. I am shocked by the ranking and the minimal amount of reviews of Joe's Taco's. I consider myself a "Mexican food snob. " I have lived in Okc and currently reside in Phoenix, AZ. I just happen to be traveling thru town. With the two dishes I tried, this is hands down the best Mexican food that I have had. I wish I had a few days to try more of the unique dishes that are on there menu. I feel guilty leaving the half bowl of steak queso. We had a great meal. We are picky about out Mexican food and all was very fresh and tasty. Their beans are well worth trying, not refried. They have an outdoor patio that when we were there was well shaded. They are dog friendly and offer dog bowls for water. Service was also great. If ever you are in need of comfort food, I recommend Joe Taco. It is the perfect Americanized Mexican joint in this side of Amarillo. I'm always looking forward to a hangover burrito after a long night for an early lunch. With an egg inside and out and your choices of meat and sauce that will make your stomach smile! They have a fun set up with bright colors and staff that is truly there for the customer. Anytime there has been a problem, management has given compensation and their full concern of our well being as their customers. If you want take-out, we order in often and pick up has always been smooth with the food quality being just as good as eating in the restaurant. This place has THE BEST stuffed avocados, maybe in the whole world. I'm not sure, but I'm willing to investigate. Parking is shit, but the food is generally worth it. The drinks are great, and if you get in good with the staff you'll get creative off-menu drink offerings. Cinco de drinko (for Cinco de Mayo) is super fun, but they sell Jell-O shots that are super gross at this event. Don't do it. The live music on the patio in the summers is wonderful. They bring a woman named Tennessee in frequently and I like her. They have beer buckets, which is great but not my thing. Margaritas go from passing to stupendous depending on what you order- this is a get-what-you-pay-for place to be sure, as far as margs go. I order my stuffed avocados with queso blanco and carnitas (pulled pork seasoned amazingly). I'd recommend highly. The queso blanco can be had on a few things. It is so, so yummy. Please eat it. It has a rich, silky flavor. The quesadillas are basic, but their shrimp is always perfectly spiced and a great meat option when there are options to choose between. The carnitas are also very good, and can come on several plates. The rice that comes as a side has ranged from WOW to wuh-wuh, so don't be too eager for it. The tortillas that come with some dishes are always good, but never great. This is my favorite casual place in Amarillo. read more

This place was recommended by our hotel concierges. The menu was written with humor. The salsa served with the delicious chips was outstanding. I ordered the Taco Tour because I just couldn't decide. Casey, our waitress was one the best servers I'd met in a very long time. She had a laid back attitude, remembered all 6 individual orders, didn't write anything down, and made no mistakes. It was my first time visiting Joe taco, and I had my family with me. The place had a nice layout and decorations. But, where I was sitting I had a straight shot view of part of the kitchen. The first thing I noticed was that the floor was extremely dirty, and I saw two different employees on two different occasions eating and drinking in the kitchen around the food preparation. I know that this is a major health code violation. It really grossed me out. I had ordered the brisket tacos, and honestly they were delicious. I loved them. The salsa also was good. I posted a photo of the dirty kitchen floors, but I did not include one of the employees eating because I don't want people to lose their jobs that have families to support. I hope that the owners or management will see this and make sure that this practice of them eating in the kitchen will be addressed. It was on a Monday around 5 PM or so. The server was great she was very polite, professional, and accommodating. I would have given this place four stars, had it not been for viewing that dirty kitchen and the employees eating in there. read more

A great contemporary taqueria where you can meet up with friends, sit out on the patio on a warm summer night, sip a cold cerveza, and enjoy some chips and salsa. There's no loud mariachi band, no tacky Mexican decor - it's very different from the rest of the Mexican restaurants here. After I walked into this place for the first time, I realized why this place had such a different vibe. The host, the wait staff, and even the cooks were Caucasians. This is what Pei Wei is to Chinese food. lol All night long, I made mistake after mistake. My friend ordered the Queso Blanco ($4), which is white cheese, chilies, onions and spices all melted together. It was DELICIOUS! I ordered the Guacamole ($4.50) - which was freshly made, but the avocado was definitely not the freshest. It was over-ripe and already pretty dark and mushy. Where were the fresh cut tomatoes and cilantro? And it was a tiny portion! Seriously, it was like a scoop of ice cream on a bed of shredded lettuce. wtf? I should have ordered the queso! Then for our meals, the same friend orders the Baja Fish Tacos ($8) - pan-seared tilapia served in a flour tortilla with lettuce, cheese, pico, and mango salsa! He wouldn't exaggerating how good it was! "omg.. yum... mmm..." I, instead, ordered the Smothered Fajitas ($11) - marinated fajita meat with grilled onions, peppers and rice topped with queso. Sounded delicious when I saw it on the menu, but turns out it was just alright. I mean, fajitas on their own are delicious. Queso by itself is delicious. Mexican rice is delicious. Throw fajita meat and peppers on rice and drowning it in queso, however, is not that delicious. So you see, all night I ordered the wrong things. Next time, I will definitely HAVE to try the fish tacos. Pros: food is good (besides guac and smothered fajitas), ambiance and decor are refreshingly modern Cons: Guac was a rip off and very blah, drowning the fajitas and rice in queso did not make for a good meal. plus, i had to pay for it the next morning if you know what i mean. read more

Chips seemed homemade and were very crispy. The stuffed avocado with Mexican pulled pork was gone so fast I couldn't even get a pic of it. Flautas were major noms and moist inside, no dried out meat here. I was told the guacamole was fantastic by my mom and hubby, I don't eat the stuff. Looked very fresh though. Hubby had an enchilada combo, 2-chicken and 2-spinach and mushroom. My hubby being a meat water I was surprised when he said he preferred the spinach mushroom ones. Made me wonder about the mushroom, spinach, shrimp queso.... I think that's going to be on my list for next time!!! The fajitas were moist and perfectly seasoned. This place is SO good I'm thinking I should drive from DFW just to go here.....but probably won't!! I had the Joe's Big A burrito and it definitely was Big A!! Unless you are SUPER hungry, split this with someone or have part of it for lunch the next day! (That's what I would do!) Excellent menu items. Chips and salsa/guacamole dip are delicious. The happy hour drinks (4-7pm) are a great way to wind down from a long day at work. Yummy brunch and tasty tacos. All day happy hour on the weekends too! Wide variety of choices on the menu that haven't disappointed yet. My favorite is probably the breakfast taco. The service always seems to be slow, so I wouldn't go here if you were looking for a quick meal. The patio in particular is the worst if you're not near the door - you will be forgotten about.
