Our tow truck driver spoke highly of the place and when we got there, they were closed. Our tow truck driver called the owner/ son's cell phone number which is posted on the building. Within minutes Chepe came and opened the shop for us. Because it was a Sunday, we didn't expect our car to fixed until Monday at the earliest. They assessed our car needed a new alternator and that it should be ready in 40 or so minutes! What? Sure enough our car was done and we are on our way home! They charged us what Auto Zone charged them for the part and for their labor. We are so grateful for a place that is trustworthy, who goes out of their way to help and doesn't gouge travelers who are desperate to get to their destination. Unfortunately, even after asking again, I never got a quote. I just got a surprise bill lol at least I made it home I guess. Lastly his assistant was RUDE and gave me attitude when I brought it to his attention, he said "she'll be fine" no apology or trying to make it right. When I took my car back to my mechanic he said he over charged me which I figured he would do but still gave him the benefit of the doubt.

My husband and I were driving through Quartzsite and stopped for gas at the Chevron gas station…read morebefore the border. AAA was a joke, after 1.5 hrs, they sent a small truck with Walmart jumper cables for our huge diesel, but I regress. After spending the night in the Chevron parking lot because our truck (pulling a 33' trailer) would not start. Some kind gentleman and his grown sons stopped and ran a test on the engine and said it may be the sensors failed or a coil or ?...diesel engine troubles. Bottom line was, we weren't getting home until it was fixed. Looking for Automotive repair places in Blythe (yikes), I noted the great reviews (dismissing the one some idiot wrote about an estimate). Called Mead Automotive and spoke with a gentleman who said "yes" his wife would handle our extended diesel drive-train warranty paperwork (which Lorie is excellent at doing) and to have it towed in and he would take a look. AAA towed our trailed and truck (thank you Bobbie) and Hamp began working on it. He drove my husband to an auto supply shop for two new batteries (gave Hamp a good deal too), then returned and continued to troubleshoot. A friend drove to Blythe from Cucamonga and drove us to Ontario Airport to rent a car and drive home to Fallbrook, in San Diego. The truck and trailer stayed with Hamp. They kept our trailer for several days on their locked lot, free of charge and made sure the batteries were charged (awesome!). The next day (Friday), Hamp called and said he was home thinking about it and the answer came to him (diligence). He went in Monday morning and ordered the parts and bam, he was now able to repair it (when all the parts arrived...yay). Turned out the a/c condenser froze up and caused the engine sensors to do the same (a wife's version). The a/c had gone out on our way to Sedona (boo). The truth is that Hamp and Lorie were a true blessing for us. We were in the middle of nowhere and very vulnerable. I doubt we could have found anyone in San Diego that could have done a better job at such a fair price. Lorie billed our insurance and our share was about $800 for everything. He had our truck for 5 days and a lot of labor, not to mention keeping our trailer safe. I wish they were closer, we could always use an honest diesel mechanic out our way. Thanks again! While camping along the Colorado River just across the CA/AZ border from Blythe I found myself…read morestranded. The starter on my car finally gave up the ghost after 11 years. I called on Saturday and told them my problem. They said it would take a few days to get the part in so we arranged for the repair Wednesday morning. Luckily I carry enough food and water for 2 weeks. Tow truck companies only send their trucks on paved road. I was 3.7 miles down a county maintained gravel road. After considering being towed to the pavement by a 4X4 and then by a tow truck, they decided they could send out a truck pulling a flat bed trailer. This cut my towing cost in half!!! Not a typical towing call, that's for sure. I asked for a tune up since the car was already in their shop. No problem. I needed new spark plugs and they recommended replacing the serpentine belt as well. They accomplished the work in the estimated amount of time AND they were very accommodating to me and my mini pig Kevin. Like I said, not your typical towing & repair job. THANKS to the whole crew!

The weights were literally falling off the tires when I was putting them on the truck. I took some of the weights I found to the shop and they asked if I wanted to have my tires balanced again, my response was appropriate NO, if you can't do it right the first time why would I trust them to do it right the second time. I didn't ask for a refund or anything but I will never go back to them again. Weights should not fall off a tire before you even drive the car!!
