Had the smoked brisket at this lunch wagon. Meat was delicious and fork tender. Portions was a little small, but overall the food was good. They are located across 49er restaurant in Aiea.

Decided to try out a food truck lot in Aiea on Kam Hwy across from Boston's Pizza. Of the trucks, I went with the mixed plat from Joe's. Service was quick and friendly. Im glad they took credit cards since I didn't have cash on hand. The cole slaw was different from the usual. A lot lighter than Im used to and a spicy after burn. I kinda like it. The beans were good; sweet with visible pieces of bacon. The chicken drumsticks were cooked thoroughly but not dried out. The ribs were smoky and the meat came off cleanly from the bone. Both yhe chicken and ribs had BBQ sauce that was sweet with a spicy kick. Very tasty. I got a new place for BBQ.

Finally got the Brisket :) What can I say Perfect no Notes. Mac and cheese was on Point, Coleslaw is different but in the best way - and Cornbread, oh I love me some Cornbread. The BBQ sauce! I need a Bottle for home. Joe and his Wife are super Cool and Friendly Location is what it is but if you know you know. Its about the Food! Will be back and back and back. Joe thanks for being near my house but also not having the brisket everyday Because I think I would be there EVERYDAY!, and that could be dangerous. ;)

Words can't even explain how good their food is !!!!! It's hard to find food that is just to die forrr and this place is just so great!! The owners are amazingly kind people! You can tell they love their customers. The food is filled with flavor and just melts in your mouth! It's hard to come across amazing people sharing their food with others and this place is just that! MUST TRY!!

Too late we are it all.

As a Texan I give my stamp of approval on this BBQ. So good and Joe is just a really nice guy on top of that.

On vacation and had to come back a 2nd time the day after I tried this spot just to eat this bbq again. Ribs so tender they're falling off the bone, smoked every morning fresh. Homemade hotlinks shipped in from California that are soft with the right amount of kick! I ain't a coleslaw or baked bean dude but their home recipe had me cleaning my plate. Seriously some of the nicest people and easiest to talk to running this food truck. Man is dedicated to his bbq, waking up at 4am to prep this food and the effort really shows. I'll be coming back when I'm in Hawaii again for sure

Jerry wings, coleslaw and a hot link. Yum!

Love supporting local businesses! The owner there Joe showed so much love for his food and his customers! The jerk wings were so flavorful and the meat was not dry! The hot links, a little spicy but also had great flavors! Would highly recommend the food there!

The folks that run this joint are absolute 5 stars and worth a stop just to meet them. The food was however more along the lines of 3 to 3.5 stars. The flavors and smoking weren't quite on par to what we've had in the past. Though I get why they heat is less. Love my island fam, but they can't handle spicy heat.

Born & Raised in Hawaii, I have never been a fan of catfish 'til today! I'm so glad I tried it again with Joes Backyard BBq... because it was hands down thee best catfish I've tasted. The few catfish I've tried in the past with diff. food trucks or restaurants have always had a dirt like taste to them. with a bitter aftertaste. The Po Boy Catfish at Joes was seasoned to perfection, crunchy, & no dirt or bitter aftertaste to the fish! Paired up with their sauce, cole slaw, tomatoes, & pickles, it was a bite of vibrant flavors & textures! Owners are awesome & real easy going! We went around 2pm & it wasn't too busy so it was pretty chill & relaxing! Definitely recommend!

Full plate..2 sausage, ribs, bun, rice, Beans, Coleslaw...OH my party in my mouth

Ordered by phone the day prior, and just gave them my phone number as usual (it's how they identify you when you pick up, with no worries about duplicate or misspelled names.). Every time I've ordered in advance, our order has always been packed neatly and ready in a box for takeout. (My brother had brought a box just in case, and smoothly offered it to their staff for someone else's future order.) The restaurant has several tables for dining in, and markings on the floor for those waiting in line. It's brightly lit and clean as well. I appreciate their staff, food, service, and generous servings. They make us look so good with our potluck contributions! So what did we order? Half chicken katsu, half chicken wings, a small platter ($45 for the small pan, but picture a much loaded tray) - it's a great value deal! It was the same order our cousins loved when we brought it on Christmas Day (they especially love the wings, but we love the katsu-so this year we asked for half-half instead of all katsu, and they were so happy, ha ha!) Oh, and they give you a nice big container of yummy katsu sauce;)! I like their panko and cooking method, as whatever they do, the chicken is nice and crisp, and tasty - with, or without the sauce, actually. First time that I actually tried the wings, as I'm not a wing person. (I didn't even try it at Christmas, lol.). But, it was nice and crisp, lightly seasoned, and the wings had lots of meat on them. Easy finger food, and they were not dripping in oil, either, which I appreciated! Also ordered (for the first time) a small platter of chicken chow mein (a little over $30?). It was based on a good recommendation by an admittedly biased family member of the owners, and we were pleasantly surprised! The small pan was covered in wrap and then foil, because the mound of noodles was seriously kinda big! My brother was like, quick, go tell mom to come look before we open it (as she's picky, so it's hard to impress her). It was filled with lots of veggies (sliced carrots, cabbage, onions, etc) and bbq chicken pieces, tossed with great flavor (I want to say it was a nice sauce, but this wasn't a wet noodle dish.). My dad added Chinese mustard soy sauce, but my mom and I thought it was perfect the way it was. Oh, don't laugh, we're only a family of four, so yes, we ate two meals - lunch and dinner - and still packed a ton of leftovers! As we watched the game, we commented to each other what great choices we had made. (We also had sushi trays and other treats, and of course, chips, and my brother's dip. My brother said we may not have had a favorite team to cheer on today, but it was a great excuse for a party, ha ha!) I know we're doing a repeat for our next occasion, for sure! We'll gradually try some of their other foods, and it's farther away than we'd like to drive (I know, it's not that far, but we live on the other side, ok?). My brother agrees it's worth the drive - it's across Aloha Stadium and literally in the same spot as Ice Palace; and we saw quite the line at the Taco Bell drive through when we were looking for parking;). He also compared it to the cost and serving size of what we ordered on New Year's, from a restaurant much closer to where we live. Hands down, it was not even a close comparison, his emphasis added. So go here, it's perfect for family dinners and potlucks and I hope you agree with my assessment;)! Oops, I didn't take any pictures, aiya!!!
