I met these incredibly fun people through this FB food page, and we've been meeting up to eat at different places whenever I'm in town. One of them suggested Lacoy's and since I had read about them through the page, I also wanted to go too! They open at 11:30 and you can drive through this gate, when it's open, into the parking lot. My crazy @$$, drove along the side of the building and went to where they were. The owner, Shawna, told us we needed to wait in the parking lot. LOL! When she said they were ready, we ordered the shrimp and the bbq chicken. Since it was Wednesday, we got the special which came with all the sides. The chicken was sooooooo tender! The shrimp were nice and crispy! Loved the mac n cheese and those greens with the bacon... Soooooooo good! Nice butter corn and cornbread! Oh, and we got lumpia too...and you need to go early or they will be sold out! Shawna also gave a sample of the shrimp and catfish while we were waiting. That was really nice of her. I usually never leave reviews but this place is a 10/10 good af so I just had to. the owners are so sweet and welcoming. they gave use samples of their catfish and smoked bbq chicken and just.. amazing. Their flavor is insane especially on the smoked chicken. Their bbq sauce is the owner's personal recipe and let me say it's definitely the best bbq we ever had. I love that this food truck is near home, the food is soo good, I recommend the catfish and the po'boy. There was an episode where I ordered from them about a week straight because I used to get home to late and missed there soul food options. Finally I got a chance, first time trying greens ever and I enjoyed it, had a vinegar taste the greens were soft and melted so nicely. The price is actually worth it and they are pretty generous with the portion. The owners are super cool too, they would give samples out the customers and sometimes free desserts with my large orders. I always get the deep fried catfish let me tell you I don't eat catfish from anywhere but here he's is on point. Can you believe this was the first time I stopped and got to try Lacoy's ? It definitely won't be the last time! If I could pop a tent up next to them, I would !!! While waiting for our order, I was given samples of their deep friend shrimp and deep fried chicken. Four pieces of jumbo shrimp seasoned with perfection! Then three pieces of chicken!! It was a feast in itself !! But I had a tummy growling for more!! For $40 we got the catfish nuggets plate, g-rice wrap, Pastele lumpia, plain cheeseburger (they made the patty) and garlic fries !! I walked away feeling like I stole something, because of all the yummy food I had in my hands plus the sampler that my daughters and I received from the chef!! I always passed this place on my way to schofield and for years always seen the pink wagon on the right about 1/8 mile coming off the freeway. Gotta say the husband and wife that own and run the place are the coolest nicest people. They will actually give you samples of some of their food if you are a first timer. Menu (pic) is steak (tasty and tender) shrimp burgers fries ..custom (diff toppings) fries...pastele stew ( no pork but chicken but real good) pastele lumpia...and prices are very reasonable Most of their customers was just picking up food...but they have a small tarp and four chairs if you want to chill and eat there like We did and their was a nice breeze so it was very comfortable....we can tell it is a very popular place to pick up food. After a beach day we were looking to try something new and decided to stop here on our way home. I always see it on my way to and from work but never stopped before. Lots of options to choose from and while I wanted fried chicken I was out of luck because a fryer was down today. Guess I'll try my luck next time and yes, there will be a next time. We settled on the catfish plate, $11 with an extra piece of catfish, $7 and opted to add the rice (can't remember what it's called) to the plate for an extra $2. I also went back a few minutes later and added the pastele spring rolls $5. Our food took less than 10 minutes which was nice. Normally they have a table and a couple benches set up under the tent but not today so we brought the food home. Catfish was nice, flavorful and crispy. I wish it had been a bit thicker so it was more juicy. The tartar was good with it. I am SO glad we got the rice because it was delicious! Good flavor and loved the pop of the fat black olives. Spend the extra to get the rice. You won't regret it. The pastele spring rolls were tasty and the sauce that goes with it should be bottled and sold! The lady that took our order was so nice and friendly. We'll definitely be back because I want to try the fried chicken and some shrimp. read more

Let me start by saying I have driven past this pink food truck on many occasions and I'm glad I finally stopped to check it out. Two things caught my eye as I drove by, the fried catfish sign and occasionally the owner dancing outside and waving at cars! Make sure to slow down as you're passing the pink truck, turn right behind the building just past it, then follow the driveway around behind the building to park. I received a warm greeting when I approached the window. The owners were kind and engaging throughout the entire experience. I ordered fried catfish plate, which was what caught my eye in the first place and I was not disappointed. The plate came with a slightly sweet cornbread, collard greens, macaroni and cheese and corn. The catfish portion was very generous and cooked to order. Everything tasted homemade! I was so excited about the catfish that I didn't look at the rest of the menu later and we'll have to go back to try a few other things. They offered me a piece of their fried chicken while I was waiting and it was delicious! They have a small seating area available for those who want to sit down. As I was leaving, I noticed that they have a 'pay it forward' program. If you purchase an item of the menu, they will tack it on the board and when someone less fortunate comes, they will get something free to eat. As the years go by, I find the Aloha spirit missing from many interactions, but it felt alive and well at Lacoy's! I will definitely stop again and will recommend them to my friends as well. I stopped by this truck on a Wednesday because I'd been wanting to try it out since I'd seen their signs out in the grass, and it seemed like it would be good. I saw that they had a Wednesday Special going on, which gives you a bunch of food for the price. I inquired with the woman working the window, asking which food is their specialty. I expected to hear that their specialty was their shrimp due to their "Garlic Shrimp" signs, but to my surprise, she said it was actually their catfish. I preferred the catfish-version of the Wednesday Special for $17. The woman's husband who was cooking had overheard me talking about the shrimp, and he gave me two friend shrimp and his homemade barbecue sauce to try for free! As I was leaving at, he kindly gave me a smoked chicken leg too. All the food was delicious. The husband-and-wife duo were very kind and had really positive energy. Ultimately, this was good food for a good price from a good small business run by a kind couple. It's worth trying, if you ask me. P.S. When I had met with my coworkers at the Schofield Main Exchange to eat with them and heard that one of them had actually paid more for their food from Burger King, I knew that I had made the right choice! read more

The service here was excellent! I really wanted fish while on the island. My husband and I was driving to Sunset Beach when we spotted this food truck. UPDATE 1/26/23: Lacoy's should be a lot more busier than they were yesterday. It's hard to find authentic Puerto Rican food on the island at a good price point. Honestly, Shawna should be charging more for it. The flavoring of the gandule rice was spot on. Not too salty, perfectly flavored and soft! I was expecting smaller scoops for the rice ala carte but they loaded up my to go plate! I ordered 8 pastele lumpia's and ended up eating half on the way home. Lumpia was perfectly filled, just the right amount of flavor and not dripping in oil like other places. Texture was perfect too! Not too soft or too crunchy. This place and their food has me in a food coma every time. They're family owned and super friendly people. After trying the smoked chicken a while ago, we had to go back to sample some of the other offerings from Lacoy's. As usual service was fast and friendly and the portions were gargantuan. I had the fried catfish she had the steak plate and we both opted to add shrimp. Both plates came loaded with my favorite corn bread, collar greens & Mac n cheese, and we also got a sample of the fried chicken. We opted to eat at the truck this time around to enjoy every thing at its optimal freshness and it did not disappoint. Sides were on point as usual steak was tender and flavorful, the chicken was crisp and tender. The shrimp had a nice crunch and breading. But the star of the show was the cat fish, crisp flaky and lightly seasoned... it was absolutely delicious. My girlfriend doesn't eat fish, but she sampled and enjoyed it as well. Once again they've completely knocked it outta the parked! Can't wait to come back again, but next time we'll probably play it safe and share a plate, but least my kid was happy since we had more than a full loaded plate of food and an incredible combo of everything to try we brought home !
