Pleasantly surprised how great Joe's Bar & Grille was when we finished our meal. Food is a blend of Creole and Spanish style. Restaurant is cozy, with a small bar area and about 12-15 tables. The food here is amazing! 3 of us had some version of the Alfredo (shrimp, vegetable), and it's the best we've ever had anywhere. My dad, who is Italian (and picky about eating out for Italian) had the seafood marinara, which he said was also excellent and sent compliments to the chef. We had a kielbasa skillet, biscuit and gravy, breakfast bowl, chicken biscuit, and two specials -- Nutella French toast and not your basic b* BLT. Everything was super tasty, and the owner and staff were friendly and chatty. It is a tiny place, so it's not the best place for a party of more than 6. We were stuffed so got pastries to go. Joe's was my first place to eat on the island and my last place. The food was delicious, the Cajun rice with shrimp, chicken and sausage was nicely seasoned, the shrimp was cooked to perfection. We also had the whole fried red snapper, so good you could have ate the bones. And your have to try the pain killer. The service was local hometown they treated you like family. If you are looking for some really good food with choices galore then Joe's is your place! Not much on atmosphere and not on the beach but there's parking and the food is great! Great Restaurant in St Croix!! Or family of 6 were having lunch or dinner at this wonderful, cozy place. After trying reheated chicken, saggy pastas and even smelly meats in local restaurants, we found this gem unexpectedly. After our first dinner we ate there the next days of our visit to St. Croix!! Food was delicious and FRESH!! The portions were so big that many times we just shared and left satisfied. Reasonable prices compared to hotel restaurants and very friendly service!!. Every night was family night, Joe the owner is the nicest guy in the island. He was always making sure we were happy and even recommended the bioluminescence and the beach horse riding which turned out to be the best attractions of the trip. Delicious! Small place that is hopping. Good coffee and big portions. Perfect bacon. Details: this place is always busy so a quick in and out is less likely. The kitchen closes at 11am. If you order ahead, your drinks will be made when you come in (I think that is a positive). Generous pour with the breakfast booze. read more

Sip is THE BEST restaurant on the island. It may specialize in breakfast food, but the atmosphere, friendliness, and food are second to none. Jessie treats everyone as her own and has the best personality for making ANYONE feel right at home. Warm, comfortable, friendly, and great food. I simply cannot say enough. We enjoyed our time at Joe's. The staff is friendly and funny, making the quaint little place feel like home. We've eaten at three places so far, all good, but this has been our favorite. The rudest restaurant owners I've seen on island. I witnessed Joe and his daughter berate a customer because she changed her mind about adding some eggs to her order. First of all when her order came, it was so small, that it looked like a side dish. Then the customer requested eggs which are on the board as "add an egg, $2.00" What could have been dealt with an easy "ok, yes, it costs $2 per egg to add to an order. But if you don't want it, no problem" the owner stood over the customer and then from behind the customer yelling across the room "you ordered something and now you don't want it because you don't like the price, well I'll remember your face, you don't need to come back any more!" Then the dad Joe, who is a massive man walked over to the customer looms over her while she is getting ready to pay and then grabs her drink and tosses into the sink while saying you don't have to pay for it just get out." Mind you, all this time, the customer has not raised her voice. We other customers were mortified and offended. Seemingly, Joe and his daughter believe this is an acceptable way to treat locals. . I remember that before the 2017 hurricanes business was very bad for them and they almost closed. Now, due to the influx of laborers and the limited food options to accommodate them, Joe's is busier than ever. It's not a function of the quality of the food nor the quality of service.. both of which are poor. The norm is to wait close to an hour for food, the hood in their kitchen seems to be non existent because there is always smoke in the restaurant and they serve a side of attitude with the food. But this incident was over the top. If you can't deal with customers changing their minds then you shouldn't be in the restaurant business. I will not be back and I will share this story widely. Terrible and unacceptable treatment of customers. read more

Best food I've had since being on this island! It's funny cuz the restaurant is somewhat hidden, tucked away in a small shopping center away from the touristy area. Everything from the food to the service was excellent! It's a local stop and that's what made me love it more! The people on this island are resilient. They take pride in what they do. This is shown in their service and food. Most of us had the shrimp and lobster alfredo. One guy had the steak and he loved it! There is no doubt I will be frequenting this place more often, as long as I am here! Kudos to the chef and staff! read more

My wife and I came here for our last night on the island and enjoyed our experience overall. This is a little place near the East end KMart plaza that seems to have almost exclusively locals dining there (A good sign!) My chicken parmigiana was crispy, hot and tasty. Unfortunately my wife ordered the lasagna and found it was cold in some sections as soon as it arrived. The taste of both was good. The homemade lemonade and ice tea are out of this world. The food itself took a little over an hour to get from the time we sat down to the time we got our meals. Believe it or not this is not too far outside the norm on the island, so we were not too concerned there. Really just the fact that after that long some of the food was cold was our biggest gripe. If you are looking for good comfort food away from all the action this is the place to go. Just make sure you don't go too hungry! read more

I hate to write a bad review but my boyfriend and I felt like this was an advertised tourist trap and fellow travelers should be aware. First, they were out of lasagna. It's an Italian restaurant. How do you run out of lasagna? They were out of garlic bread. Really? I wanted to try the hibiscus juice and guess what? They were out of that, too! Oh, And no potatoes, either. Wow. Then, we waited 45 min for our food. $25 for shrimp and lobster linguine Alfredo that was soupy, shrimp seemed small sand the lobster had a strange metallic taste to it. It didn't even come with a small side salad and no bread at all, for $25. I gave it 2 stars because at least the manager/owner did go from table to table to greet guests, although she did that early on during our visit and we didn't see her again to tell her how long we had been waiting for our food. read more

My wife and I have been to the majority of the restaurants on the island. This week was our first visit to Joe's. Suffice to say, we will not be going back. Their 'please be patient' motto is all well and good but I don't think waiting 40 minutes for a side salad appetizer qualifies, especially since they were not crowded. I ordered bow-tie pasta which, while it tasted pretty good, barely covered the bottom of the plate. My wife ordered the meat ball appetizer for her main course and was given the meat ball entree. Understandable that orders can be mistaken. But the proprietor brought the server to our table as a 'teachable' exercise. which was hugely uncomfortable for both the server and ourselves. The movie we had hoped to see, since the theater is barely 200 yards away, was at least a 1/2 hour into the showing by the time we left the restaurant. read more
