So I will give them the fact that they have really good donuts and French toast, however it stops there. We sat there for 15 minutes and no one served us. It took me having to ask for a waitress and watch them argue on whose table it was. So our waitress ended up being the person working the drive thru, what sense does that make. As she's taking our order she's taking drive thru orders. No fault to hers but who is running this operation, the manager peeked her head out the back office once every person in the place was waiting on their food. Our food took forever, hash browns were burnt, good French toast and my husband's omelette was covered in butter. Since our waitress was working the drive thru she didn't come get our payment, so I took it to the counter. I politely shared my comments of having the person working the drive thru wait tables makes no semse with one of the waitresses and she didn't say anything. This is my first time reviewing anything on yelp but after reading the review by Darkskin B. I was compelled to reply. I ate at Joe's for the first time two weeks ago on a Friday night .I didn't have huge expections, after all this cafe was originally a donut shop and they still sell donuts! I had the same Pasta and fried fish dish that Joe's calls Catfish Jojo. I was blown away by the quality and flavor of this dish. There was a perfectly fried generous catfish filet on top of pasta with a very tasty crawfish cream sauce very reminiscent of crawfish Monica sauce. The piece of fish itself was tender and had none of the oilyness that a lot of the farm raised catfish served in the GNO area has. The meal also came with a small salad made from a real nice spring lettuce mix with a slice of tomato and dressing, and a couple slices of buttered and toasted fresh french bread. The portions were very generous,and all of this for 11.95! You could not touch the flavor and value of this anywhere else in this city for anything less than 17-18 dollars. I also took home a couple donuts as well that were fresh and deliscious, an apple fritter as big as a dinner plate and a maple and bacon donut that was sublime(if you think the combination is bizarre give it a try)! The quality of my dining experience was not a fluke as I have returned for lunch and dinner on two occasions since and had an equally pleasant dining experience with good food and competant service from a very friendly hardworking waitstaff. If you're looking for a good meal in a clean environment for a discount price give Joe's a try, you should be pleased .I've passed this place hundreds of times and I didn't have a clue! The manager sucks she took our orders and gave all six of our food in to go boxes ! After telling her two times it was to eat here . Gave the food back and told her it is for here , like we told her twice before and she said sorry but I'm not putting the food in plates to eat at our tables!! So we gave her all the food back and would not give us our money back !!! She is a real bitch !! So we left the food in the bags on the counter and left the store. I been to Joe's cafe plenty of times to mostly eat donuts and drink coffee, but sometimes I would be really hungry and I ordered a breakfast platter with pancakes and the service was not always good. I went in, and 15 or more minutes passed by, and no waitress would even look my way to offer at least a drink. Another time a waitress took my order and this time I was craving red beans & rice which come with corn bread and my cravings was it, the cb, so I got the food but w/o cb, so I asked waitress about the cb, but she said they didn't have nomore, so I was like, u should hve told me that when u took my order, so I told her I didn't want it, and that I just go ahead and order some donuts and coffee, and she told me that if I didn't pay for it that she will hve to pay for it bcause that's what the owners make employees do, so I told her, too bad, but I cannot pay for it bcause I didn't want red beans w/o cb, and she walked away not too happy.....I felt bad for her, but I wasn't going to pay for such thing bcause she needed to tell me they were out of cb, and she did not. Another time, I ordered a breakfast platter with pancakes and when they were brought to me they tasted like pure onions as if the grill was not wiped off from the cook making whatever else with onions....nothing I ordered had onions, my platter were plain eggs, Turkey and pancakes. Another time, I was eating and one waitress began to clean up/moping and the smell of pure bleach was horrible around me, and I had to stop eating my food due to that awefull strong smell of bleach. I don't think they should start cleaning up/moping while customers are still in there eating. Another time, I began to eat, and one waitress was sooo loud talking to the regulars at the front area sitting about this couple who just got up from their table and left and didn't wait for their food, and how the owners make them pay for the food whenever someone refuses to pay or just place an order and decide to leave, bcause Iam sure, they are giving bad service and they take forever to serve the food to their customers....she also talked out loud saying people don't last there (servers) bcause owners don't give a s*** about their employees. I stopped going to Joe's for about 3 and a half months ago, but today I stopped by and I just had to finally report their terrible service on here because they have really, really gonne from bad to worst......I went in and sat down, and I waited and waited for someone to even look at me, I seen people come in after me, sat down, and all of the sudden they were brought menus, by this time good 15 or more minutes had passed by, and the waitress, 1 table over me is talking to the girl there and playing with the kid, and wouldn't even look my way, so I got her attention and she told me that she had asked another waitress to bring me coffee, another 5 minutes or even more passed by, and finally a waitress came to the table next to me, not to me, but to the table next to me, and I got her attention bcause her either wouldn't even look at me, so she brought my coffee and donuts I ordered, and I told her I will order my food as soon as I ate my donuts which took me about 5 minutes to eat , but she took forever again to come back to get my order, I had to kind of get her attention from next table to take my order. My food took sooo long to be ready and when I finally got it, my sausage was burned up, and she only brought me one pancake, she said she was gonna bring the other one after, and I just thought to myself omg, this is terrible, never coming here again. The only quickness I got was bringing me my bill to pay.....definetly no tip is deserved to such awefull service. I really don't think management cares either. Smh. read more

Hamburgers are great! Restaurant quality and with that being said the wait is like your at a restaurant. But it's worth it.

Joe's to me has some of the best doughnuts and pastries, even better than your chain places like Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme. They are huge and remind me of Texas. The prices are always great and the customer service is great as well. My only complaint would be when your dining in the service can be slow sometimes. I know it gets busy in there especially in the mornings but my family and I ordered breakfast and it took an hour and fifteen minutes before our food came. Normally it is not so bad but that day it was really bad. Everyone has their days so that's why overall I love Joes and would definitely recommend it for breakfast. Never had dinner there so I wouldn't know much about that. Also some Joes are open 24 hours and I know it was very convenient for me one day. Had to wake up early for the airport and wanted coffee so bad so I remembered Joes was open. Definitely made me very happy. read more

For anyone who is reading this, I just ordered two roast beef sandwiches from here at about $10.00 apiece for them. When I placed my order I asked for my bread to be grilled and they said that they automatically grilled the bread. When I looked at my sandwich it had no meat on it. I did complained about it. They did give me enough meat to add for one sandwich, but I had to pay an additional $3.25 for additional for the meat for the second one. When I got home and started to eat my sandwich my bread was not grilled. I heard how good their food was so I decided to give it a try. The food was good, but like I said the quantity of meat was poor. As I was waiting for my food they had served a table that was there a plate of Red Beans and Rice. When I seen that plate it looked like you could have made 2 meals off of that one plate. When I called and spoken to one of the workers about the bread she spoke loudly across the restaurant so I can hear the whole conversation, to the person in the the kitchen area it sounded like he was annoyed about the complaint that came in. This is simply bad customer service!! I have been going to joe's off and on as a sunday breakfast stop. The service was tolerable, and food was usually good.....until today. My husband went and got us three dozen mini burgers .....lasts between breakfast and lunch. When he came home we each took one and made an off face; something wasn't right. I ate the first and took one bite of another hoping it was just a fluke, but again very off taste...we summed it up to burnt onions. I went back POLITELY, with the food, to let them know that we couldn't eat it, the onions were burnt and asked for some compensation....since im now out of $25 for alot of food i cant eat AND RETURNED. The waitess was very polite, apologized and was willing to correct the situation by offering donuts. Before finalizing the ordeal, she called the manager to let her be aware and was told to look through all the food and that it was just the seasoning that made the onions that way. So now that my food has been all dug though, I'm expected to take it back or get nothing! No money or other food or anything!!!! It's the principle of the matter. All I got was a burger and a bite of another, that has made me now nauseous from the taste, and a loss of both money and all the breakfast that I had!!!! No consideration! It was a one time problem, but the manager leaves the understanding that its your problem once it's bought.... No matter what you do to be fair.... I won't make this mistake again. read more
