Yeah, I just don't see it? 2nd time here while in the area for work. My breakfast was mediocre, the Eggs I ordered scrambled light were overcooked, the home fries were very undercooked and drab. I ordered a bagel, I think they just had plain but it was a frozen bagged bagel with some philly cream cheese foodservice pack on the side, pretty bad and barely enough to cover one bagel half. Don't serve bagels if that's just not your niche, I'd rather you say no then what I got. The service is excellent, fast and efficient. $11 bucks including Coffee, yeah, wow. read more

The only think to dislike about Joe's is the limited seating may lead to waiting for a table. But they're even prepared for this: you'll find a nice, warm gas lamp outside the front door in case you prefer to wait outside. I've been here quite a few times and it stays busy on weekend mornings but I've never had to wait too long for a seat at the counter. This has become me and my girlfriends go to weekend breakfast spot. Joe is usually there mingling with the people, cracking jokes and making everyone feel welcome. Great local diner in the Sterling area! My mom and I made the drive over after wanting to get breakfast food. The restaurant was bustling when we arrived, but we were seated fairly quickly. After browsing the extensive menu, I got the Western omelette (ham, onions, green peppers, and cheese), while my mom got the short stack of French Toast with two eggs sunny side up. Between the two of us, we got plenty of food to try. I really liked my omelette--it was flavorful, filling, and even came with a side of fries. The French Toast was good, but nothing extraordinary, so I think I would opt for more of their menu-specific items next time. Great staff and atmosphere as well. One big dislike= the fact that we just found this place! We have been local for two years and today was our first (and certainly not last) visit. I have memories as a child going to spots like Joes and to return brings back so many great memories. My children loved the food and atmosphere. The menu choices are excellent. I had Eggs Benedict w/ grits (fantastic) and my wife and kids each had a variation of a burger, breakfast platter, and steak and cheese sandwich. The interior design obviously supports our military and first responders, which is also a plus for our family. The owner was rude and doesn't have the etiquette to talk. After asking to wait for a booth, and waiting for over 10 minutes, the owner asked us to sit at a table. We had two hungry kids with us, but upon sharing with the owner that his staff asked us to wait for a booth, he rudely asked us to go sit and wait. Being a BIPOC, it was embarrassing to be treated this way by a Caucasian and being laughed at by other Caucasian guests. We just walked out of the place. They need to hire more professionals who will be more respectful to their customers. We won't be back and won't recommend. Never disappointed when I come here. Friendly atmosphere where everyone knows your name. Especially when you go there often. The boyfriend and his friends have been coming here for years. Since I have been back in the area, I am usually here on the weekends with the boys. The breakfast burritos are huge and overstuffed with eggs, bacon, cheese and whatever else you want. I've only ever visited for breakfast and you can tell how popular it is based off the line (sometimes out the door!). I personally love the Nora's Breakfast Special, it's classic & timeless - 2 eggs your style, choice of waffle/pancakes, choice of meat and potatoes. My favorite is to get scrambled cheesy eggs, waffle, bacon and hash browns. Yum! Always friendly and quick service. Very reasonable prices. Great food! And even more amazing staff! We were given a warm greeting once we entered and then seated immediately. Our server was amazing; I wish I got her name but I'm assuming she's one of the more established staff members there. She was very engaging and also glad to take our orders. She made sure we were doing okay the whole time and chatted with us as well. There were other staff members that stopped by our table as well to see how we were doing and if we needed anything (including the owner). Coffee refills were plenty and were always right on time when you needed them! The service here is amazing--what a great diner. I got the breakfast platter which was tasty. P.S. One of the previous posters gave this place a low score expressing dissatisfaction with the wait time: if you're trying to go here on the weekend just know that it gets BUSY here on Saturday's/Sunday's. Not only is the staff extremely friendly and the owner exceptionally great - he will remember you if you go more than twice - but the food is good and we love the old diner feel. You're welcomed by a Betty Boop statue at the front door, and once you're seated they are very attentive. The variety of options is great - you can get breakfast or lunch at any time. Some in our family opt for huevos rancheros and others prefer classics like 2 eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. Second time stopping in for breakfast and I was underwhelmed again. First time the sausage was over cooked and hard to eat. This time I was seated promptly but after some time I had to flag a waitress to take my order. There were several waitresses standing around talking but none coming to help me. All I can say is WOW! And I am absolutely upset with myself, because my wife and I should have tried this place sooner. When you pull into the shopping center you can immediately tell that this place will either be a diamond in the ruff or something worse (copper). When we entered this place was packed with people, luckily there were a few boths open so we didn't have to wait long to be seated. Our waitress was kind, patient, and knowledgeable. After some deliberation we were ready to order: Wife - Nora's Combo pancakes, scambled eggs w/ cheese, home fries, sausage patties Me - Veggie Omelet with hash brown, toast w/ butter and one waffle on the side As we waited for our meals to be prepared the owner Joe walked around talking to all the customers, of course you could tell who were the regulars because the conversations with those customers were much longer then the others. I immediately could tell that Joe's cafe would be here to stay because it seems that Joe has built a strong customer base that always have them coming back. After some time our food finally arrived, and boy was it not only delicious but very plentiful. In my personal opinion I feel like this place has IHOP beat (but to each their own). My wife and I both enjoyed our respective meals and will most definitely be back again. Here are a couple things you should you if you decide to come to Joe's 1.) The hours of operations for this place isn't like IHOP. So your window to eat great food isn't very vast. 2.) I don't always get up at 6am but when I do I wouldn't mind eating at a place like Joe's. I was out near the airport at the butt-crack of dawn and needed something to sustain a night owl like myself into driving back home. Pulled up the Yelp.com app (yeah it's on my homescreen :)) and was suprised to see some places actually open at 7am. Who the heck is eating out at 7am? Oh yeah, normal people who wake up early. LOL. It wasn't a far drive from Dulles International so if you're traveling this might be a good place to stop. The service was better than I expected and I was surprised the waitress took our order without writing much down. I love when waitstaff do this, it's a like a personal dare saying "See how awesome I am? I won't mess up your order even though it's all in my head." And true to form, she got all four of our orders right, even down to the hashbrowns vs. grits. The decor isn't amazing but I still like the diner like feel to the place with the tuft seating and metal tables. I guess I was still in a sleep haze when I ordered with my eyes being bigger than my stomach so I couldn't eat it all. But, I had a darn good time trying. I even had to slap away some fingers from my plate in the process. It was really the waffles that set me in slow-mo. They are big and fluffy and taste oh-so-delicious drizzled in syrup but BEWARE: they will make you full. All in all Joe is someone I'd like to call a friend :) P.S. They have scrapple! read more

Favorite breakfast place in Sterling. Been going here for years and even back when it was named Linda's cafe... not sure if Joe and Linda are related, but I'm fairly certain the menu's are identical. Anyhow. Solid food, friendly service, generous portions, and reasonable prices; what more do you need? I have only been for breakfast, so I can't comment on anything other than that, but I have had many things from the breakfast menu and have never been disappointed. Never. I usually get the Heuvos Rancheros or the Chitos scramble. check out the pictures. mmm mm good. I could swim in those beans! Fantastic local breakfast joint. It was swamped on a cold March Sunday morning on our visit and the line was out the door. Their efficiency, politeness and fantastic service made the wait totally worth it. Unlike most other places in NoVa, the staff was friendly, apologized for the wait, and even chatted with customers before they were seated. Quick service, food cooked perfectly and smiles all around. Joe's Cafe is located in a small strip mall so you might miss it if you are not looking for it. The atmosphere at Joe's Cafe is very welcoming. When we arrived we were promptly greeted and seated. All the seats at the tables and the counter were pretty filled. The place is has a diner feel and is very clean. They have a pretty expansive breakfast and lunch menu. They served great sized pancakes and French toast made with Texas toast. One gentleman ordered a sandwich w/ fries and it looked really tasty. If you are interested in scrapple or chipped beef they serve that here too. I ordered 3 pancakes, 2 sunny-side up eggs, bacon, and a side of tomatoes. My hubby ordered 3 slices of French toast, 2 scrambled eggs, and country ham. We also enjoyed some coffee and I had OJ. Overall, Joe's Cafe is a great little cafe with large serving portions and cheap prices, and I look forward to eating here again. read more

Joe's food is about as good as a greasy spoon-ish diner can be... which isn't much more than three stars. The other two stars come from the comfortable atmosphere and exceptional service it offers. Whether it be the attentive, friendly waitresses or the (son of the?) owner taking time to BS with us, it's clear this is a family run joint serving honest food to customers they care about. It doesn't hurt I'm a big softy for old-fashioned Italian-American businesses that remind me of the town my parents grew up in. The irony of it all is we were told they bought this location two years ago to remodel and sell, but there wasn't a market. They sorta tripped into making money and decided to keep it. Now they're doing solid business despite a crappy parking lot. Just goes to show you people will deal with a hassle if you're selling something they want. Go figure. I've been meaning to go to Joe's for a long time. Maybe I ordered the wrong menu item, but I was left a little disappointed. A friend and I came here on Saturday morning around 11:30am; the parking lot was filling up (a lot of people seemed to arrive at the same time as us). We waited 20-25 minutes for a table, which wasn't as bad as I thought, since the place is one small dining room area with the bar. I ordered the "Nora's Combo" which was $9.95-10 on the menu. You get your choice of pancake, waffle, or french toast as the entree, 2 eggs (cooked any style), a meat choice (bacon, scrapple, sausage links or patties), and one of the following: hashbrown, homefries, or grits. I opted for the french toast, which I heard was good reading on Yelp. My two eggs were scrambled, and I received 2 sausage patties with the hashbrown. The french toast seemed like it was made from old bread. That really disappointed me, because when I cut into it with my fork and knife, the french toast was hard and tough to chew... The sausage patties were average, eggs were eggs, and the hashbrown was sadly soggy, and not crisp like I would expect. I actually went home to fry my own hashbrowns and they turned out more crisp. I'm bummed that I didn't have a good experience here, since I've had this place on my radar for so long. read more

We decided to visit this place based on my yelp friends great reviews. It was about 9 of us dining for Sunday brunch this past weekend. The place is small and really not an ideal place for a group. The manager or seemed to be an owner was the only person who is sitting people and waitresses would then come to take the order which was kind of bazaar. We had to wait about 30-40 mins to be seated and we had a multiple waitresses coming by to take orders and drop stuff off. Very unorganized. I ordered their country fried steak with scrambled eggs and hash brown, everything was cooked the way I asked & sides were delicious. My boy friend and friends enjoyed all of their food. As I have read in the reviews, food is outstanding but service can be improved a bit.
