I've been here a few times within the past year, and have never left disappointed. I feel like the sandwiches are the perfect size, and don't leave you hungry (although I want to order 3 sandwiches every time I visit) I can tell they use premium ingredients but are priced very reasonably for what you get. I give this 4 stars and not 5 because I feel a certain deli down the street *cough*Marco's*cough* edges these guys out. I'd like to think that over the years I've made my way through the menu, but unfortunately I'm a creature of habit and get the same few items. I love the turkey club and the beef on weck that the jus just drips down your wrists as your eat it. I have yet you try the soups, but I hear nothing but good things. I have tried some of their sides such as the potato salad recently and I thought the potatoes could have been cut smaller and seasoned better. I should have written s review for joes weeks ago! It's been the only place I look forward to going on the weekends. It's become our go to spot. I get the 539 Elmwood every time and my wife gets the I love Josie. We share a side of fries and eat half on the spot and enjoy the other half for dinner. They're really consistent and for that reason they're one of favorite places in buffalo. Quality control seems to be an issue other places and joes quality is the same every time we've been and that's what puts them at the top for us. They're a reliable taste to look forward to week after week instead of the highs and lows with other buffalo restaurants. read more

Delicious sandwiches! The bread that my husband's turkey and bacon was on looked amazing and was perfectly toasted. My Buffalo chicken salad was really yummy (although there was celery on it which is gross but I recognize I'm definitely in the minority on that one...). The pickles are nice and crunchy. Terrell's chips are super salty. Went at noon on a weekday, and there was barely any wait for our food. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Buffalo. read more

Had the 534 Elmwood / Delaware ? Another reviewer called it the Delaware, but it was listed as Elmwood at the store. Regardless the sandwich was awesome, most delicious lunch I've had in a while. Jalapeños layered in the brisket with melty cheese so good! Customer service could be better, employee barely acknowledged my existence, but the price is right which probably contributes to that. Had been curious, so stopped for first visit today. Nice, clean, quick. I have a favorite sandwich that I like to get at delis: corned beef on rye with mustard and sauerkraut, not heated. I ordered that, and a side of coleslaw. The sandwich comes with a dill pickle spear and a large portion of ripple potato chips. The sandwich itself had a very large serving of corned beef, plenty of mustard, and a little sauerkraut (I had to look for it to find it). The rye is a soft, non-seeded one, so a very, very mild rye flavor, and a kind of squishy texture. I happen to prefer a clearly recognizable rye flavor, with or without seeds, and a bit of texture and chew to both the crust and the bread, so this wasn't for me, but other people may prefer the soft, minimally flavored bread. The corned beef itself was a very large portion, in nice sized pieces, with a moderate amount of marbling, so nice without being super-fatty. (I happen to like the leaner end with almost no fat, but for a lot of people that's heresy.) This should satisfy both people who like lean, and people who like fatty. It was very well trimmed. It doesn't have a lot of spice flavors, so it's a very mildly flavored corned beef. Importantly, it was not even remotely too salty. It's so frustrating when you get corned beef and it tastes like a salt lick. This was absolutely not. The coleslaw was a moderately large portion with a creamy, slightly sweet dressing. The carrots and cabbage were in ribbon slices, and crisp and crunchy. The dressing is a little liquidy, so had to be careful eating it with a fork not to get those long strands accidentally dripping anywhere. Overall, good. The whole thing was under $10, in case you want to compare. Definitely a large amount of food for that. Recap on sandwich: Good - 1. Lots of corned beef, nicely trimmed, nicely cut 2. Not salty 3. Plenty of mustard Not my preference - 1. Almost non-existent amount of sauerkraut 2. Squishy, bland rye bread 3. Too little presence of spice flavors in corned beef Altogether a good experience, not the most amazing thing ever, not full-on classic deli. If you're in the area, certainly worth stopping in, but I wouldn't make a special trip. read more

Put in a huge order for pick up on a Thursday. The whole atmosphere of the place was really cool, huge chalkboard menu that was very legible to read from, and definitely a wide variety of food. Line was long when i got in and when i got to the cash register, the lady was very efficient in getting orders right; felt like she was doing 10 things all at once! When my order was all ready, one gentleman was very kind enough to help me carry the bags to my vehicle, despite how busy the whole place was! My family loved the food and service provided by Joe & Company for our recent family event, an 100th birthday party. The cuisine, as promised by Joe, was perfect. Our guests, ate the beautifully presented appetizers: bruschetta bar, crudites, shrimp, and the cheese and cracker platter. They gobbled up the arugula salad, loved the roast beef on weck, and all the other items on the menu. Everything was fresh. Food that should be hot, was hot, but not cooked to death. I really do not know how he pulled off that magic, because the venue was not convenient. When I had questions about the event, Joe and his assistants were low-key, confident, and exhibited an assured "can-do" attitude, which I absolutely adored. Joe helped me create a menu for this very important party, advising me as to what would work, and what would not, but always listened to what I wanted. He also recommended his favorite dishes, such as the chicken piccata, a dish I am glad we served! All the linens, silverware, and glassware were pristine. I liked how the servers glided into our space, working around obstacles.The staff did their jobs and remained available but unobtrusive. It was Mastman's when we first moved into our house, and we loved it then. The quality has definitely been maintained as Joe's Deli. It's within walking distance for us, so it's challenging to keep the kids away in nice weather. They love the Lunchbox, tuna mac, and a few others as well. Pretty much at least one person per friend group knows about this place and there's a reason they always suggest it, because it's delicious! It's a great little place that has quick service. Even though it is quite popular I've never seen it really packed with people and I've always gotten a table. I ordered the 534 Elmwood which is brisket sandwich with jalapeno slaw, cheddar, BBQ sauce & tobacco onions. It was awesome! The one complaint I would have is that it wasn't quite good enough even with the chips(which are also delicious by the way, good seasoning for homemade chips). I actually had to eat some of my gfs Reuben which was far larger than my sandwich. The Reuben was definitely one of the best I've had in the area, had a ton of flavor. The price for all of this was relatively cheap compared to the quality of the food. Start listening to that friend that brings this place up as an option! You won't regret it! read more

I have been a huge fan of Joe's since it opened. I have ordered both in the restaurant and through the catering and all of the food has been exceptional. My favorite by far is the muffaletta- it is so delicious. And that is coming from a person who hates olives, yet somehow this sandwich makes me love them. Hands down this place makes the best sandwiches in Buffalo. Their side dishes, especially the potato salad are all homemade and all equally as good. The catering menu is very diverse and excellent as well. I have ordered the Mexican buffet twice and at both parties people were asking where I got the food from because it was so delicious.
