This is a nice little hidden in plain site gem. It's a great little lunch spot especially if you work downtown. I got the chicken Caesar salad and a Rueben. There are so many wrap and sandwich options here but these were so great! My salad had enough dressing and so much chicken on it. The croutons were also nice and crispy. My pet peeve is when the croutons get too soggy and don't give you that crunch. The Rueben was great and not too greasy! I also don't like sauerkraut so I got this without and it was still very good. This is my go-to lunch place for me. I work at Fountain Plaza, so when I forget to pack something for lunch, I usually head here. It's the cheapest sandwich place in the city, or at least near my specific location. I know other coworkers go to a few other places I will not name, but those other places charge a minimum of two bucks higher or more for the same sandwich. They always have people in there, which is a great sign. It's inside the Electric Tower, so there's a nice lobby to walk through to get to their cafe. The employees are always so sweet, and they make sure to get your order correct - which is awesome, considering how many places don't really care if your order is right! I really appreciate that - they double check your order before starting it. It's a basic cafe, and they serve up the typical sandwiches you'd expect. I'll be honest, I've never ordered anything but sandwiches, so I don't know what else they offer! The size of the sandwiches is something else I like. They are not enormous, and can't fit your mouth around them, NY deli style sandwiches (which are great, but there's a time and place for everything!). These are the perfect size, with the perfect ratio of bread to filling, at least to me. I want to be able to finish the whole sandwich without feeling like I overate or am stuffed to the gills. So the portions are the correct size, regardless of what anyone else might say. My go to's are a basic turkey with mayo and lettuce, or a hot corned beef with swiss and mustard on rye. What a lunch spot! Waiting for my sandwiches I watch the meat sliced up on the deli slicer thing right in front of me. Everything is prepared fresh and prompt. Delicious! And the prices! A fantastic, good sized lunch without breaking the bank, waiting for service, or shamefully eating something quick and greasy. You can't beat this place when it comes to quality and pricing downtown. Homemade soups, giant salads and daily sub specials are what keep me coming back each week. The staff is super nice and seem to know folks by name. The dining area is super clean, while you enjoy people watching from the giant windows at the electric tower. read more

Meh, so I tried their beef on weck yesterday and was pretty disappointed. I think they microwaved a piece of roast beef, put it on a bun and added some horseradish. The salt bits on the bun seemed to get in the way of enjoyment as well. It's pretty cheap though at $6.50 and comes with a bag of potato chips (that they don't let you substitute for anything). Oh well. I still had an amazing lasagna soup here once, so going forward I think I'll stick to the soups when dining here and not so much to the sandwiches. read more

This café is conveniently located a few steps from Yelp Buffalo HQ, so I've sampled a cross-section of the wares. It's all very old school Buffalo. The coffee's so-so, nothing fancy, with fake sugar on the side. The salads are all iceberg lettuce and ranch dressing. The beef on weck is solid--tender and tasty, with a nice salty bun, and comes with chips & a pickle. Nothing's bad here, but nothing's outstanding. Thus this place would ordinarily earn two stars from me: I usually prefer to brown-bag it versus buying food here. But what earns it the third star is the customer service. The ladies behind the counter are old-school Buffalo as well, and that's a good thing. Example: I recently found myself without cash after buying a coffee, and not only did they tell me I could pay them later, but they offered to make me lunch and let me pay later for that, too. I just love this place! I have been going here for about a year. All the food is top notch. The soups (usually 3 selevtions daily) are homemade and yummy. Their lunch special is a sandwich a cup of soup and a drink. Total with tax $7.75 can't beat that deal! The owner knows literally EVERYONE by name. It really is a great place to eat. Its been around 4 years since I worked in downtown Buffalo, and one thing I keenly remember was a nice little sandwich shop called Fera's located in the Market Arcade. In my first week back downtown, I grabbed my co-worker and headed out to what I thought was the best kept lunch secret. To my chagrin, it was no longer there and we settled on Might Taco, sad panda. Fast forward another week and, by chance, we stumbled into the Electric Tower to see the new renovation and long and behold, there it was, Fera's. If you could have only seen the excitement in my eyes.... like a kid in a candy store. Since this discovery, me and my co-worker have frequented Fera's at least twice a week. They have a great assortment of sandwiches and soups and the prices are beyond reasonable. It is fast and most important friendly. On most days, the owner Sue is working the registered and she is one of the nicest people I have ever met (especially working at a restaurant). She tries hard to remember and greet you by your first name, I mean, who does that anymore??? It is really service with a smile. I really only come here for the Turkey, Bacon club on sesame roll. It's actually really good! The size is a bit smaller thsn a typical sub, but it's worth the buy. I'm not really a fan of the soups, because they seem to be canned soup with added ingredients. I've heard alot about the fried bologna sandwiches and the egg salad sandwiches...haven't tried them myself though. Seating is available, the atmosphere is pretty quiet. Overall, Fera's is not a bad lunch spot to choose. read more

Fera's owner, Sue, and her staff are extremely friendly and provide high end customer service. There is a surprising variety of sandwiches for the size of the kitchen. My favorite is the capicola. It's a favorite lunch spot for people who work wthin a few-block radius. My only criticism is they don't have ice, or whipped cream for hot chocolate. read more
