You can't beat this place when it comes to quality and pricing downtown. Homemade soups, giant salads and daily sub specials are what keep me coming back each week. The staff is super nice and seem to know folks by name. The dining area is super clean, while you enjoy people watching from the giant windows at the electric tower.

Great lunch spot. Have been coming here for over 20 years under three different owners and they have always kept the quality top notch. Great reasonably priced sandwiches for a quick lunch. Try them.

Beef on weck: pretty darn good!

This café is conveniently located a few steps from Yelp Buffalo HQ, so I've sampled a cross-section of the wares. It's all very old school Buffalo. The coffee's so-so, nothing fancy, with fake sugar on the side. The salads are all iceberg lettuce and ranch dressing. The beef on weck is solid--tender and tasty, with a nice salty bun, and comes with chips & a pickle. Nothing's bad here, but nothing's outstanding. Thus this place would ordinarily earn two stars from me: I usually prefer to brown-bag it versus buying food here. But what earns it the third star is the customer service. The ladies behind the counter are old-school Buffalo as well, and that's a good thing. Example: I recently found myself without cash after buying a coffee, and not only did they tell me I could pay them later, but they offered to make me lunch and let me pay later for that, too. Much appreciated!

I love this place. It is walking distance from work. The cashier is always friendly knows everyone's name. The service is very fast when I only have a half hour lunch. The food is always fresh and high quality. I got a bacon and turkey sub in this picture.

Excellent sandwich and service for a reasonable price. Plenty of space to socially distance and eat.

Tried the sausage egg and cheese on a whole wheat hard roll. It was good,. The menu had many other items that I will be back to try.

The minute we walked in-he was engaging and trying to fill our mouths with the delicious food that he prepares. This in itself is so special and satisfying. The shop is warm and inviting. It's simple, clean, and fresh. The meatballs were so delicious and flavorful, and the bread was fresh in the truest form of flavor. The salad was packed with so many different Italian combinations of garnish that it was a meal in itself! The rice balls were shared with a local bartender on the way home and they were a big hit! Again, the owner went above and beyond to fill our bags to the brim. The food was cooked from the freshest ingredients. He is also giving cooking lessons and will be implementing the "real Italian" pasta soon! Cannot recommend this establishment enough.

The consensus was a build-your-own culetto, which sounded right up my alley. The ordering process was easy, although there were a few differences between the restaurant's menu (found on Yelp/social media) and DoorDash (no wheat bread option and aged provolone was the only cheese available). One thing I appreciated: you could pile on multiple meats without an upcharge. Naturally, the dietitian side of me chose turkey. The food-lover side of me immediately regretted it. My work partner ordered the meatball version, and wow - those meatballs, the sauce, and that crusty bread were clearly the winning combination. The sandwiches were served in little soup cups to help hold what I can only describe as a "bread pocket." It was delightfully messy, involved a fair amount of crunching, and was absolutely worth it. The office also requested tiramisu, so I ordered a couple individual cups, along with a sfogliatella. If you've never had one, imagine the love child of a croissant and a pastry shell: dozens of delicate, flaky layers that shatter with every bite, surrounding a lightly sweet ricotta filling with hints of citrus and vanilla. It's crisp, creamy, buttery, and delicate. Overall, I'm grateful for this opportunity to something a little different. Next time, I'm skipping the sensible turkey and going straight for the meatballs.

After a long drive to have brunch somewhere on Elmwood, just to find the doors locked, I ventured…read moreover here to have lunch and it did not disappoint! First off, I was greeted and found staff friendly and efficient! You have plenty of options for seating .. dining area, front bar, back bar, even an outdoor patio bar. Although it is dive bar-esque, it was nice and clean (let's be honest .. some dives have a stench and stickiness that can definitely ruin your appetite, no matter how much you may love them). They have a set up for bands to play, as one was playing while I was there for their 2 year anniversary (congrats!). What was nice is although I could hear the band (it was playing in the back and I was up front), it wasn't over whelming me. I have eaten places where, no matter where you sit, it's extremely loud, and I appreciated that you had a choice here. Now onto the food: The food should have been doomed to fail; my tastebuds were prepared to eat sweet, buttery, syrupy French toast with a mocktail at brunch elsewhere. But wasn't hyped about the menu because of this (which is not dog and pony's fault .. I had to work and didn't have time to research where else brunch was available). I settled on the umami smashburger by a suggestion of my waitress. Now once again, could have been doomed to fail as I'm not a French fry person and my favorite cheeseburger is one I make on my own. BUT WOW their food blew me away and made me forget all about my brunch let-down. The French fries were fantastic and had a great seasoning on them! The smashburger was great to the last bite .. and I was NOT expecting to finish it as it was a really nice portion (I ate lunch now 10 hours ago and didn't need to eat again it was so filling!) but it was so dang gone good I sure finished it! Smoked cheddar .. chimichuri aioli ... kimchi bacon jam .. oh ya that bacon jam was EVERYTHING!! Thank you to the staff at Dog and Pony for making my long drive worth while!

I ordered the smash burger, my husband ordered the turkey sandwich. After we were waiting for our food for over 25 minutes, the server came over and said that he was just informed they don't have the turkey because they had an issue with that freezer. Ok, so my husband ordered the cheese steak because he was super excited for the bahn mi roll. My smash burger was alright, but the bread they use for their burgers remind me of those cheap buns you get from TOPS that just fall apart. The worst part was that they forgot the dog sauce on my burger, so I asked for the sauce, and THEY CHARGED ME FOR ASKING FOR SAUCE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO ALREADY BE ON THE BURGER I ORDERED. My husband made sure to tell me after we already left because he knew I would have fought it and our already 1.5 hour long lunch date would have been longer waiting for the refund... He ordered the cheesesteak and the sandwich was so small, and the "bahn mi bun" wasn't even toasted which is a signature for bahn mi bread. He said the flavor was fine but nothing to rave about. The worst part, for me, were the French fries that came with both of our meals. They were soooo heavily peppered that they were inedible. We asked for ketchup to try to make them tolerable, and they gave us a pre-portioned small cup of ketchup... You serve french fries with most of your menu, why isn't there ketchup on the table?!? Overall, It was a nice place to have on senrca street which used to only have the blackthorn and franchescas, but I would not eat here again.
