Beef on Weck, large curly fries (only 50 cents extra for large) and a large Birch Beer.
Gary Z.

I was first introduced to their spit roasted sandwiches and birch beer at the Erie County Fair as a kid. They've remained a favorite ever since. I haven't been here in a while but boy am I glad that I stopped in today. Best Beef on Weck and curly fries in the world! Roast Pork, Roast Turkey, Lamb and BBQ Pork sandwiches also available. Fast and friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. Cash only but ATM available. Give them a try - you'll love it!

Stopped for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too busy. There was a steady flow of customers in and out. Order at the counter, they tell you a number, then yell your number when your order is up. We sat down with a pitcher of Birch beer, and our food was ready within 10 minutes. Everything was hot and delicious. The portions are more than generous. They sell a few beers and seltzers. The menu has so many choices, I think that it's a good idea to take a look before you get there. Next time we go, I will be getting a meat pup cup for our dog- he can't eat ice cream due to allergies, so a Beef, Turkey, or Lamb puppy treat would be a fantastic option for him. Cash only, but there is an ATM on site. They're closed on Sunday, I believe hubs looked it up because he was thinking of heading there again today. We'll be back for sure.

I was thrown out by the owners daughter because of my service dog Apollo (who was acting and behaving perfectly) when we first got there an employee asked us to show Apollos certification and I told her that the ADA has no certifications for service dogs then after she took my order the owner's daughter came out and asked to show Apollos certification and I told her there is none. She then proceeded to ask me to put him in the car and I explained to her that Apollo is my alert dog and that he can alert me to a heart issue, along with another type of issue and she told me that my dirty filthy dog can't be in their restaurant. They are also non handicap accessible because their wheelchair ramp is broken up with a chunk missing, there handicap parking space needs to be repaved and is on a slant and I'm in a wheelchair and I have a rear entry van and backing out I had to have a friend get behind me so I wouldn't flip over. Their bathroom is not handicap accessible at all, I also had an extremely hard time moving around their tables

A good start?

Disappointing - we really wanted our meal to be good. We'd heard this was a quaint local place to get a good meal. Unfortunately, not so much. The initial presentation was nice (see pics) and we couldn't wait to dig in. I got the half roast beef, half pork sandwich and when I took my first bite, wait, what nothing but meh! The meat was tough, not chewy but tough to chew. And it was drrrry, I mean parched. There was barely a hint of moisture. There was no flavor to tell the difference between the pork and beef. And that beautiful bun was not even warm and was also firm, kinda like day old bread gets. Darn, so I tried to fix it by adding horseradish. This made it better but still hard to get through. Next I went and got some mayonnaise, that should do it. But nope. Lastly I decided to try and top it with some of the recommended side of coleslaw, yikes that was worse. I realize everyone's got their own take on coleslaw but even the slaw was dry and covered in a bunch of finely ground herbs that just made it taste almost chalky. In the end I just couldn't finish it and I was in the military and got thru some pretty tough food. How was my wife's turkey sandwich? She said it was "fine". In my wife's vernacular that doesn't mean very good. However to be fair the 3 stars are for the young lady who took the order. She was very welcoming and informative. And the place was clean. But we still wouldn't go back and couldn't recommend it.

Beef on weck. So tender and good.

Wanted to try a new beef on weck and happened to be in the area. The ratings and reviews for this spot were good, since I dropped in for a quick bite. We went inside to order takeout. It looks like a BBQ joint on the outside, but it's a small diner style restaurant in the inside. It's small and a bit dated, but I imagine it's cozy enough. The menu is posted right above the counter, so you can figure out what you want from there. They have lamb on weck, beef on weck, pulled pork sandwiches and more. I opted for a pulled pork sandwich on weck. My mom got the roast beef. We didn't have to wait long. Their sandwiches are large and their portions healthy. The pulled pork had a nice sweet, tangy bbq sauce, and it was pretty good. It's a bit messy to eat. Their roast beef is well cooked. Virtually no pink anywhere. It's very tender though, and it didn't have any of the string meat or grisly bits. One of the only down sides is I would've preferred if the food was hotter. It was warm, but it was quickly cooling, and a cold pulled pork sandwich doesn't taste as good.

Seriously!!
Judith C.

Now, this beef on weck is a sandwich. Food is done quickly and delivered to your vehicle promptly during this pandemic. The beef was tender and roll was perfect for me. Never heard any complaints about food here. Support a local business with very good food.

Steve the owner greets you with a smile and a hello as you walk in the door as he works the counter and busses tables. The venue is awesome from Roast Lamb, Roast Beef, Pork and Turkey. I had the Roast Beef on Wick with fries and brown gravy which was awesome. Pros: Friendly and quick service Fresh homemade food Generous portions Cons: There are no cons.

After a long drive to have brunch somewhere on Elmwood, just to find the doors locked, I ventured…read moreover here to have lunch and it did not disappoint! First off, I was greeted and found staff friendly and efficient! You have plenty of options for seating .. dining area, front bar, back bar, even an outdoor patio bar. Although it is dive bar-esque, it was nice and clean (let's be honest .. some dives have a stench and stickiness that can definitely ruin your appetite, no matter how much you may love them). They have a set up for bands to play, as one was playing while I was there for their 2 year anniversary (congrats!). What was nice is although I could hear the band (it was playing in the back and I was up front), it wasn't over whelming me. I have eaten places where, no matter where you sit, it's extremely loud, and I appreciated that you had a choice here. Now onto the food: The food should have been doomed to fail; my tastebuds were prepared to eat sweet, buttery, syrupy French toast with a mocktail at brunch elsewhere. But wasn't hyped about the menu because of this (which is not dog and pony's fault .. I had to work and didn't have time to research where else brunch was available). I settled on the umami smashburger by a suggestion of my waitress. Now once again, could have been doomed to fail as I'm not a French fry person and my favorite cheeseburger is one I make on my own. BUT WOW their food blew me away and made me forget all about my brunch let-down. The French fries were fantastic and had a great seasoning on them! The smashburger was great to the last bite .. and I was NOT expecting to finish it as it was a really nice portion (I ate lunch now 10 hours ago and didn't need to eat again it was so filling!) but it was so dang gone good I sure finished it! Smoked cheddar .. chimichuri aioli ... kimchi bacon jam .. oh ya that bacon jam was EVERYTHING!! Thank you to the staff at Dog and Pony for making my long drive worth while!

We came here for lunch because we seen so many great reviews but man, what a disappointment. The…read morebar area was nice, but the service and the food was not as everyone else described. I ordered the smash burger, my husband ordered the turkey sandwich. After we were waiting for our food for over 25 minutes, the server came over and said that he was just informed they don't have the turkey because they had an issue with that freezer. Ok, so my husband ordered the cheese steak because he was super excited for the bahn mi roll. My smash burger was alright, but the bread they use for their burgers remind me of those cheap buns you get from TOPS that just fall apart. The worst part was that they forgot the dog sauce on my burger, so I asked for the sauce, and THEY CHARGED ME FOR ASKING FOR SAUCE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO ALREADY BE ON THE BURGER I ORDERED. My husband made sure to tell me after we already left because he knew I would have fought it and our already 1.5 hour long lunch date would have been longer waiting for the refund... He ordered the cheesesteak and the sandwich was so small, and the "bahn mi bun" wasn't even toasted which is a signature for bahn mi bread. He said the flavor was fine but nothing to rave about. The worst part, for me, were the French fries that came with both of our meals. They were soooo heavily peppered that they were inedible. We asked for ketchup to try to make them tolerable, and they gave us a pre-portioned small cup of ketchup... You serve french fries with most of your menu, why isn't there ketchup on the table?!? Overall, It was a nice place to have on senrca street which used to only have the blackthorn and franchescas, but I would not eat here again.

It's been several years since I have been here and was looking to get some deli meats and cheeses…read morefor sandwiches this week. In typical deli fashion, you grab a number and wait for yours to be called. It does get very busy and it's kind of hard to see the exact selection behind the case. I was a bit bummed they were out of the teriyaki chicken breast but they had plenty of other stuff . I was waited on promptly as well . Everything was packed well and came to a total of $11 and some change (not too shabby!) . Other freezer items and sauces, chips etc can be purchased too. I'll be back soon to try some other things and maybe stop by Eileen's next door for some baked goods (they were closed this time around, maybe a blessing in disguise calorie wise, eh?) PS- the roast beef and cheddar sandwich I had for lunch today was delicious!

Number system. They have a variety but they don't have Circle U hard salami. I can live with this. Cheeses are at a different counter. There are spices, breads and such in a separate room. A little confusing. Almost like a wanna be "Guercio's". Whatever. I guess what really ticked me off - there is a tip jar. FOR WHAT???? Handing me bagged cold cuts? I'll be back at some point. Just not anytime soon.

A dear friend drove to Buffalo from NYC to volunteer at an event and after a long day volunteering,…read morethey were looking for a hearty meal and some good drink. Seeing as I'm a Yelp-er, they wanted me to find a spot I hadn't been to yet, even though I had eaten dinner already on my own. I had The Ridge West Seneca saved in my "Places to Try" collection so I said let's go. Overall, I cannot wait to go back and grab a meal here and try the food for myself! We arrive just before 8pm on a Saturday night to a large gravel parking lot that was pretty busy, but we still found a spot pretty easily. We walked in and the hostess was able to seat the two of us at a booth right away! Inside it was very spacious with plenty of TVs going, a bar on one side, music playing overhead. Indoor noise was elevated (it's a restaurant that has a bar, it's going to not be quiet haha) but the two of us could carry on a conversation fairly normally. Our waitress came over immediately to let us know she'd be a few minutes as there were a few other tables she was handling. Fine by us as that allowed my buddy ample time to look over the menu and figure out what he wanted. I saw the St. Patrick's Day-themed cocktail specials menu so I knew what I was ordering. Our waitress though - Absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly friendly, had great personality, and was really accommodating in splitting the check (I took care of all our drinks, my friend took care of his dinner). Our waitress did a great job checking in on us at the perfect time, we never felt pressured, rushed. I didn't order any food but my friend ordered their Steakhouse Strip off the "Large Plates" section of the menu, and boy oh boy, did that look amazing! The 12-ounce strip was cooked to a picture-perfect medium-rare with plenty of tobacco onions on top and around the plate, and served over a generous bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus, served with a small cup of their A1 aioli. After seeing that, I certainly want to come back and order food. My friend really enjoyed their meal, the plate was clean! As for me, I ordered two St. Patrick's Day -themed cocktails: "Sham Rocked Shake" and "Irish Good Bye". The "Sham Rocked Shake" was vanilla vodka, crème de menthe, cream, and chocolate syrup and curls - This was creamy, delicious, not overly minty. The "Irish Good Bye" was Three Chord bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and lemon juice with a lime wedge - There was so much flavor in this cocktail, the lemon juice added a pleasant fruity 'punch'. Looking at the prices for these cocktails, I felt they were in-line with most other places and they were made well so no complaints from me. The Ridge West Seneca really surprised me! I've driven past it a few times and wondered how good it was. From our friendly waitress and service, the delicious cocktails, to the fantastic-looking food, I am impressed. I'm looking forward to coming back soon for another night of drinks and to try some food!
