Went to Joe's Diner today for lunch with family. Everything was great. Reasonable prices, excellent food! It may be basic American style but it was well done. Cheeseburger was juicy and done to perfection. Fries were fresh and just right. My sister had the chicken tender pieces on a green salad--it was generous and after tasting it, it was delicious; chicken was also done to perfection. It's home-style cooking with friendly wait-staff. I love going there. I'm taking my niece there soon! read more

I always like the mom and pop diners so my family tried Joe's Diner this morning at about 8:00am. Diner food including home fries and eggs are hard to mess up. The food everyone got at my table was less than average. The coffee was okay, the wheat toast and eggs okay. However, the BACON and HOME FRIES tasted like they were days old and if not BAD. The home fries were dry, hard and had a rotten taste to them. The bacon was either bad, or had chemical spilled on them. I hope it wasn't soap used to clean the grille. Service was average, one waitress. I respect all the views below about what Joe's was 20 to 50 years ago. However, That was NOT my experience. My stomach has not been well all day. Would NOT recommend till they get a NEW cook. Worst dining experience in about 10 years. read more

Amazing food for little cost. Ok picture this if you will a 5oz burger and a heaping of fries you figure $10 or maybe even $15 at most places right, ok how about $4.95 yes that's all and it is high quality. Turkey and roast beef made on premises and we're talking turkey cut fresh off the bird for sandwiches just like the day after thanksgiving. Fish platters are delicious and you can get breakfast any time of day. you can not go wrong ordering anything off the menu, service is friendly, they make you feel like a local even if it is your first time stopping in. read more

This was exactly what I wanted in a breakfast place. No fuss no muss. Good food reasonably priced. Yes the wait staff is a bit cranky but once you get to talking with them they where so nice and accommodating. This is truly a don't judge a book by its cover kind of place. I remember always hearing about this diner from my parents when they were younger. They told me they had some of the best food. My fiance' and I decided one day to drive to Lee and check the place out. Besides the cool decor, old photo's, and other stuff on the walls, this place was nothing like my parents said. First of all the waitresses were busy gabbing to notice that we had been standing & waiting to be seated, which we eventually did ourselves. The waitress treated us like we were the scum of the Earth, like she had never seen us there before, so we were second class citizens among all of the "regulars." She tended to the wants & needs of the other patrons, but anytime we needed anything, she would act aggravated. She never came back over after giving us our food, my fiance' (after waiting 15 minutes for her to refill our drinks) had to go over and interrupt her gab session so he could get a refill of soda, and she was VERY annoyed. The food was SO CRAPPY. I ordered french toast, home fries, and bacon. The french toast was dry & home fries were BURNT. My fiance' ordered some kind of bbq meat that tasted exactly like the McRib at Mcdonalds. His portion of fries was that of a child size. I'm glad my parents enjoyed frequenting this place when they were younger (& alive), I bet it was a lot better then. I am also glad they arent around to witness the place they once loved, full of crappy food and horrible service. We made the mistake of trying this place out for the first time, which will also be our last. There are plenty of places (diners) around that have awesome food AND service. Amazing breakfast! Quick stop off interstate 90. We are a family of six. Four kiddos. All of them loved the food! My husband and I had their omelets...kids eggs bacon and pancakes. We spent $40 with tip. Very reasonable prices and portions. Waitresses were lovely! read more

We decided to try Joe's after reading the reviews and wanting to see the setting for the Norman Rockwell painting, it wasn't worth it. The waitstaff is NOT friendly or welcoming and if you are not a regular at the restaurant or someone from around town you are not welcome. This is a neighborhood restaurant and it seems they would like to keep it to themselves. The food is average for a diner but the prices are very reasonable and cheap. The restaurant itself is very small, so it would not be good for large groups of more than 4. Overall the food is okay, the waitstaff is unfriendly. read more

I was in Lee and needed to get something to eat while I waited for someone that needed to be picked up near-by. Eggs home fries toast and sausage. Pretty straight forward one would think. Eggs were fine over medium just how I like them. Sausage were thin NOT large Italian sausages like the ones I prefer. What puts this at a 3 is the home fries. The potatoes weren't properly cooked through prior to frying. Parts were still hard which weren't pleasant to eat. Coffee was good. Overall it's not a place I would purposely stop at but would if I needed a place to eat. read more

No frills, good food, local gem. Where else in the country can you get two spaghetti dinners for the price of one? And where else in the country is a giant plate of spaghetti, a salad, and garlic bread just $7.00? My mom and I came here two nights in a row. On the first night I had the meatloaf which was great. On the second night we came back for spaghetti. I also had the biggest brownie sundae of my entire life. The decor of the place is run down, but I didn't really mind. I wasn't impressed w/Joe's Diner today, October 14, 2012...My daughter,grand-daughter and myself stayed at The Roadway Inn on our way back from Salem Ma. We drove around to try to find a good place to eat breakfast before we headed back to Amsterdam NY..(We didn't know the area). I've never been treated w/disrespect like we were today..Our waitress was very rude, loud..my grand-daughter was afraid to speak...We sat down and didn't even have the menu's in hand and she was there ready for our order, w/out drinks...She yelled at other patrons several times..One poor family came in and the 2 children started to sit and she came aorund the counter and said "I TOLD YOU NOT TO SIT UNTIL TABLE WAS WIPED OFF" Now,they had 2 little children they got up and walked out...I'm sorry for them, it was raining the children were hungry...Just not right!!!!! read more

By far one of the best breakfast diners I have eaten at in New England. Egg white omelet with home fries and raisin toast was the best bargain for the huge portions that they gave me $6.15 was my total bill and I asked the waitress to make sure it was not a mistake. Also the Norman Rockwell memorably was great. This place is easily 5 stars. BTW this is a diner not the Ritz, it is an old school grease spoon place, I also liked that I didn't have a waitress asking me 10 times during my meal how it was. read more

Joes as a special place in my heart. Its small, and yes, it might look like a hole in the wall type ofplace but it is exactly what a small town diner should be. The most expensive thing on the menu is 10.95 for a 10oz steak with peppers and onions and two sides with bread and butter. There turkey dinner on tuesdays is awesome, its real turkey for 7.25 with white and dark meat. My waitress Brea referenced me to get it, and said with a giant smile "its so good its not the deli shit" the waitresses, they are real. when you go in there, its old school, you arent going to get someone that is forced to put on a smile, if they are happy they are truely happy, if they are mad, its funny, but you know what its real. margaret is my favorite waitress,she has been there since the place opened in 1955 and has personality and stories to go with it. She jokes with their "regular" customers saying as soon as tehy walk in "oh greatttt now my day just went downhill " or " oh god here comes trouble". The diner is literally feet away from the railroad tracks, and you can feel the entire building shake when it goes by. my childeren loved it. We waited 35 minutes on a saturday in the rain to get one day to eat there, and it was worth it, which says alot becuase when you have two impatient kids that are hungry, well any parent knows how much that means. The prices are very cheap. 1.75 for a hamburger, and grilled cheese. Its food that reminds me of what my parents would make. In an age where corporations slowly take over towns its nice to know i have a local place unlike anything else. There is a saying there, if you stick around then youcan hear the talk of the town, and this is true. Before I moved here, I found all the hotspots to go to within an hour, and where to avoid as well. The customer base is interesting. They serve the owners of the Diamond and watch shop and also the gold shop down the street, and local farmers that they get a lot of their food from. Their desserts are homemade and unique, like grapenut pudding, rasberry pie, apple crisp, and gingerbread. I reccomend everyone give joes a chance, at least once in their life, because its something unique. read more

During our visit this morning, we were unfortunate enough to have the worst waitress we have ever encountered in an eating establishment. She came to the table after we sat down. I said, "hello," and she looked at me without saying a word. So I greeted her again and she finally responded. We ordered our breakfast and she returned with 2 cups of coffee. We didn't even have a chance to order the coffee because she ran off so quickly after we placed our food order. I, in fact, didn't want coffee today. She put down the creamer (I use milk when I drink coffee.) Our food came and my husband told the waitress that he had ordered bacon. She shrugged her shoulders and walked away. She returned with the bacon. I ordered my home fries well cooked and they weren't done to my request. Not one word was ever said by her. She didn't return to check on our meal, nothing! Go to Otto's, up the street, for great food and a great dining experience and atmosphere. read more
