    Tavern Dining room and Bar

This spot is a quintessential New England tavern serving home-cooked comfort food in a historic building downtown. We were warmly greeted by a friendly gentleman wearing a Santa hat when we came for dinner on a snowy night recently and sat by the fireplace, it was quite nice. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. The steak was cooked to order perfectly. The menu is full of good old-fashioned comfort food like turkey dinners, prime rib, and fish and chips to name a few. With 2-for-1 Turkey or Pot Roast on Monday, 2-for-1 Burgers on Wednesday, and 25% off Steaks on Thursday there is always an excuse to stop by. They also make a great cranberry mule for those of you feeling festive this holiday season! *Appetizer recommendation - the fried green tomatoes were fantastic and are a must try!

Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is 1800's Inn. We sat at the bar, but they have two very nice dining rooms also. I had the Grilled Chicken BLT. About a five ounce chicken fillet with high quality crispy bacon on a ciabotta roll with well done house cut fries. Very good. The wife had the Fried Fish Fillet sandwich and stated that it was a high quality fillet and prepared properly. Their menu is a typical pub or tavernenu without any real surprises. They offer a balanced list of six draught beers , but none of them have an ABV over 6%. The service was good and the prices are very reasonable.

The wife and I were craving steak so we ventured down to the MH for Prime Rib night. We both had it cooked medium and it was absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!! It was cooked so perfectly it could be cut with a fork. Chef Nick is absolutely amazing. I would eat his cooking every day if I could!! Our server Brit was on point and very attentive. We also were lucky enough to have a beautiful voice singing in the dining room with Joey Palermo behind the mic!!! Truly a great overall experience. Highly recommended!!!

Pleasant evening dining alone by bar. Searched for place to have the prime rib and it didn't disappoint! Portion and flavor and degree of cooking (rare for me) was wonderful. The maple old fashioned I ordered had to be sent back for more sweetener. It improved it only marginally so I Ordered a cider for after. It didn't come with a baked potato option which I really hoped for; but they said mashed potato was available. It was, however a very scant portion under the prime rib. Wished it was on the side and gravy optional or also on the side. Great location.

From awful to bad How's the fish and chips, I asked. Great, she replied. The fish is really fresh. I wish I could say subpar, but I can't. It was truly one of the worst meals I have failed to enjoy. The lackluster service didn't improve anything. Allow me to explain. I expect three things in fish and chips; three equally important ingredients. Fish which should be fresh and not overcooked. Batter that should be crispy. And, chips, fries in America, that should be crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. At least that's how we make fish and chips in Scotland. Apparently that's not the expectation of the Morgan House. The fish was delightfully fresh but let down by the stodgy, undercooked batter it arrived in and the overcooked chips. The whole experience was further undermined by a token discount on the food that left me feeling that I was partially responsible. I guess one out of three passes for a meal well served at the Morgan House.

Cute spot with nice food! Their classic turkey is a sandwich (which I was somehow not expecting--prolly my bad) but it's great! The staff was friendly and service was fast and good. Know before you go: -their appetizers cost basically as much as their entrees but the Calamari is worth it -their clam chowder is on the salty side but still pretty good -bill for table for four was over $100 if that gives you a ballpark (3 appetizers plus 4 entrees)

The steaks were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The roasted potatoes are to die for! Lots of garlic!! The calamari was very tender not rubbery. Service was good. Very rustic inside. Desserts in photos very good with the tres leches the winner! I tried the blueberry crumble pie a month ago and still trying to forget it.

my wings were raw. very disappointing

Nice spot with good options and good food! The portions did not disappoint especially for the price. I would recommend this spot to anyone in the area.

Braised lamb shank special. So rush and delicious. Paired perfectly with a full-bodied red!

A very friendly group during our visit. Breakfast is served during all open hours. Lunch items include salads and sandwiches among other things. Indoor counter or table seating. Outdoor seating available on the sidewalk in front. I went with blueberry pancakes and asked for real maple syrup which they have available. Very nice pancakes and plenty of syrup was provided. My SO went with a steak and cheese with all the fillings and a side of tots. The tots are super crispy and taste faintly of clam (fried clams are on the menu), just fyi. They offer coffees, teas, soft drinks and mimosas (I think I remember that on the menu). I had a fresh brewed, unsweetened ice tea w/lemon. Hit the spot on a hot day. We enjoyed ourselves very much at Joe's. It's a nice neighborhood spot for a casual breakfast or lunch.

At 1st I was a bit put out. Sign did deli/burgers/Indian. But it's mostly burgers and Indian. So this cat behind the counter starts talking up the Indian stuff which I like and throws some sorta spicy chicken thing at me in a red sauce w some rice and fresh naan. Friggin' good! Spicy, chicken cooked really well, naan was awesome. Atmosphere it ain't and there's some funky Indian version of mtv on the tube (or maybe a dance off?). Eh. I guess it adds to the charm. But def check it out. You can tell the cat running the joint is proud of his food.

This fit the bill nicely. First the good stuff: the samosa was out of this world, and the mint chutney it was served with was amazing. (the onion chutney was good too, but the mint was the best I've ever had, and I eat a lot of Indian food.) The saag and naan were also delicious. My daughter had the chickpeas--same. All great stuff. What's more, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Now, the less good stuff: the rice was soggy, watery, and inedible. They had a bunch of saag that they used with both paneer and chicken, which is smart, but they added paneer to my saag without heating it up, so I had hot saag with cold paneer. It tasted good, but come on. I felt like it was a little bit pricey for a cafeteria-style place: 12.99 for appetizer, entree, rice or naan and a drink, BUT, an extra buck if you want a samosa for your appetizer (and why wouldn't you? You gonna settle for some pakora when there are delicious samosas available?) We paid extra to get both naan and rice, but in the future, I'd just skip the rice. Thirty bucks for me and my daughter, which just felt a little steep for a place with no table service. So: some hiccups that you might expect in a new-ish place, but the flavors were great and they didn't just dump a ton of cream into everything like a lot of Indian places do, so the food was lighter than expected and the flavors of the non-cream ingredients were able to shine through a little more. Bottom line: the non-rice food was good enough that I'd give it another chance despite the problems, especially because the staff was so incredibly nice.
