Back story...I'm Vietnamese but I have come to LOVE this Czech dish due to my husband's family making it one a year on Thanksgiving instead of the normal line up. I could probably eat this every day...ehh, maybe once a week. And because it's such a niche dish and not commonly available, I will seek it out if it turns up. Such was the case here. I've never heard of Donohue's prior to this nor am I entirely familiar with all the great places in South Omaha. The building was unassuming and a bit darker lit, but you could tell it was a place where "regulars" hang- as evidenced by the waitress asking us if we needed menus (we did). The plate came within 5 minutes of ordering and it took about the same amount of time for me to devour it. The dumplings were delicious and the pork was some of the most tender, flavorful I have ever had. I think the gravy could have use a tad more salt (and I never add extra salt to anything) and I would've like the sauerkraut to be a bit more tart, but I understand that's a personal preference. The price was fair- I think maybe $11.99?, but I wouldn't have minded paying a little more to get a little more. Excited to come back next month when they have this special again!

They were also a decent size. Good sauce, flavor, texture, and size. What more can you ask for?? Also each flavor has to be a minimum of 5 wings. Sunday special - $0.99 wings! Burger 4/10. The burger was okay - nothing special, but the patty size was decent so we liked that. Could see ourselves getting it again if we were looking for the protein, but I go here specifically for the burger. Not much flavor. Service - 10/10. Our waitress was the best we've seen in a while. COVID really ruined the service in Omaha so it was refreshing to see a sense of urgency and checking up on us multiple times without it being intrusive or annoying. She was very kind, attentive, and tried to make small talk with us. It was sweet. My husband is very particular with his tipping, and this is the first time in a while (if ever?) I've ever seen him tip 30%! Ambiance - It's an older restaurant that's been here for years. Nothing fancy, but they had multiple football games playing on all their tvs and good food. Friendly service and even the customers felt very wholesome and talked to us here and there. This restaurant is a casual, warm, Nebraska hug. We're definitely coming back!

Not so loud that you can't talk but definitely not a quiet atmosphere. We grabbed some popcorn chicken and tots along with a few drinks. The mangonada stood out to me as most frozen drinks are pricy, overly sweet without much alcohol but this one was plenty boozy and at $12 not bad. A great spot for a group of friends. Service was quick and attentive.

Walked in around 2:30 pm on a total snow day and basically had the place to myself, which was kind of perfect. The vibe inside is exactly what I want in a bar: dark, moody, a little sexy, with dim lighting and rich wood tones. Total escape from the bland strip-mall parking lot outside. Night-and-day difference the second you step through the door. Happy hour runs every day until 6 pm (huge win), so I grabbed the Toasted & Roasted martini for $9--yes, it comes with a toasted marshmallow garnish that actually works--and it was dangerously good. Sweet, smoky, strong... one of those drinks you sip slowly because you don't want it to end. Paired it with the buffalo chicken sliders + fries and demolished everything. Sliders were spicy without being overkill, sauce was on point, and the fries were perfectly crispy. Service was friendly and quick even though it was quiet, and the bartender checked in just the right amount. Prices felt fair (especially with happy hour), and the whole experience just felt... cool. Like the kind of neighborhood spot you brag about finding. Already texted my local friends that they've been sleeping on this place. West End Omaha, I'll be back--hopefully next time with a bigger group so we can try more of the menu. Highly recommend!
