Chicken & Sausage Parmigiana Hero 4-13-2018

It's literally backed up to my truck yard. So super convenient to grab something after work & keep it moving. Completely renovated, they upped the ante by adding Spanish Food & Jamaican Patties in addition to the regular pizzeria menu. I will admit I was a bit skeptical because of the hodge podge of so many different dishes. Buuuuuut this last visit opened my mind & proved to me they could do all dishes well. Bravo La Slice! My son & I thoroughly enjoyed our pasta dishes. Worth a visit if you're in the area. And the customer service is exceptional. Always friendly & smiling whenever I come in and always accommodating to any order changes. 8-21-20

My son and his friends had a great time today at La Slice. We celebrated his bday there and Dave, the manager, was more than accommodating. Highly recommend. Great service and the best pizza I've had in a long time.

Got vodka rigatoni, my boyfriend got vodka angel hair. Both came with a side salad, bread and desert. The pasta was very good, saucy, and worth the money. The salad was also delicious and had a very good Italian dressing. The bread was bland- was hoping it was garlic bread but it was just regular bread, but my boyfriend enjoyed it with his pasta. Now to the desert.... I chose a cannoli and let's say... i don't think you could call it that. The filling is pasty, chalky, not good flavor, and runny. The crust itself is fine but I think something went wrong while making it. The cheesecake was fine though. For 12.00 it's a good deal, just the cannoli needs improvement. The delivery driver went the extra mile to come to my apartment door which I appreciate because I put in the instructions they could call and I would go outside since it was 9:00pm and my apartment complex is confusing.

Buffalo Chicken Slice...too greasy and not enough sauce

Stopped by this pizzeria for a quick bite to eat after my boyfriend got an MRI next door. They offer a nice selection of pizza pie flavors but the taste just wasn't there. I ordered a buffalo chicken slice and a regular slice. The buffalo chicken was too heavy on the cheese and there wasn't even enough sauce on it. I did enjoy the taste of the chicken but it left a lot to be desired overall. The regular slice was simply meh, I could barely get any flavor out of it at all. The place itself is cute, they have a small counter and a good amount of tables inside where you can sit and eat. Nice staff as well!

Here's the Scoop: Stopped in for a quick bite while shipping out some orders and got a regular slice. Sat in a booth. Lighting for the afternoon was low. The service was friendly. The slice was tasty and a nice size. There were several choices in the display case but I felt like a regular. Crust perfect crunch and sauce not too acidy. I enjoyed my slice and it hit the spot. Menu had a lot to offer in sandwiches, entrees and specialty pizzas. Next time I will try one of their specials. Look for my update.

Ok so where do I even start... Throughout the years I've…read morebeen leaving anonymous reviews on each restaurant, some very good, some very bad. Il Piccolo Villaggio one of people's favorite Italian places in Long Island, some call the hidden gem! If you are new to this place you might love it, like I did throughout the times I've been to this restaurant. Now, this restaurant not too long ago was full of some of the greatest servers I've seen in the Island and had an absolute outstanding incredible service! But it's coming to an end. When you go to an Italian restaurant you expect great food and great service with an adult and people with experience make your night. Lately this restaurant has had many issues with that now is full of kids and girls trying to do this job like is a game, don't get me wrong I am not against female servers or kids getting new jobs, but for me this is not the place to be if you are going to do the real server/waiter/waitress job. Water not being served, not knowing THEIR OWN MENU, not serving the wine after they sell like its self service. If you sell pour help the costumer serve the wine don't just open serve one time and leave because you will not get a good tip and even ask for a good review like this girl does. You walk by or just sitting down you see people looking for their server to ask for water or pour wine themselves. Now why the 3 stars and not 2 or 1? I still see this kid Jeff and always with a good smile on his face, the last good and old school server I know after the 2 old ones left, this kid and the food is the reason some people do go back. Many will say oh it's just because you like this kid but no. Go yourself ask for him and you will see a difference in the service! Sometimes the menu and specials are repetitive and I I tell him make me something he always surprises me! His way of serving the old school way makes me feel hope for this restaurant. Manager or owner if you see this please save your service, take this review as a kind message to get your level back to where it was. We the neighborhood, the community still want Il Piccolo Villaggio to be top choice for Italian cuisine around here.

Now, I knew nothing about Mezza Luna, never heard of it or looked for reviews first, so I had no idea what the night would bring! We called from the car to make sure they were still serving dinner, the owner answered and told us he would have a table ready when we arrived. My first thought... impressive and a very nice man! We found the restaurant, pull into the parking lot, it was so full we literally got the last spot! My second thought....it's going to be an expensive night, but I was looking forward so I was prepared, it was pay day! LOL! The owner greeted us as we walked in, Mezza Luna is a classy, romantic restaurant with a warm, comfortable feel to it! I already had the feeling anything we ordered would be extremely well prepared and delicious, I was right! Friday evenings there is live music! A guy playing an acoustic guitar was set up in a nice spot when we walked in, very talented and played some great classic rock songs! Our table was perfect, could easily seat four people! Right away, glasses of ice water were served with a basket of fresh semolina bread! Our waiter, Fred, came over shortly after. I have to say the service is superb! He was very courteous and attentive throughout the evening! I can't even count how many times someone came to our table to fill our glass with water! The menu is very nice, you will without a doubt find any of your favorite dishes to choose from. Decisions, decisions, decisions...It was tough but I went with the Filet of Sole Francaise. My daughter chose a pasta dish. Fred read off the specials, all great choices, but I still ordered my favorite dish! However, beef barley soup was part of the specials so I ordered that. It was over the top delicious and a nice size serving! They don't skimp on anything, lots of beef with tiny pasta and vegetables. Even though finely chopped so no big pieces, there was a big taste of everything in each spoonful. I finished it all! The presentation was also beautiful and served piping hot! As everything on the menu is ala carte, your dish comes as is, so we didn't order any pasta or appetizers. It was a little pricey but believe me, it won't matter to you! The portions are big enough and a complimentary bowl of fresh mixed vegetables are served with your dinner. The francaise sauce was perfection and my fish was succulent, very fresh! My daughter enjoyed her pasta dish tremendously! There is always room for dessert, even though I felt like I couldn't eat another bite, I couldn't pass up dessert. My favorite was one of the choices (of course it was) but so were 3 or 4 others. They offer two kinds of tartufo which was a first for me! I went with the tiramisu! It was one of the best I ever had! It was so over the top delicious I finished it all!! Last nights dinner was one of the best I have had in a long time, even better than the Country House, where we went for Easter! This was just different, a very elegant experience. I highly recommend Mezza Luna. Especially if you have a SO, you must dine here! I will absolutely be back soon, not one negative about the evening I can think of, it was really a perfect night!

I called 2 days in advance to see if it was possible to get a table for 3 on a Saturday night for a 50th birthday dinner. I knew the chances were slim but I had to try. The girl who answered the phone (Amy), said they had seating on Friday night, Saturday was booked. So I took the reservation, not knowing much about the place. After reading reviews in different places, I had learned that they have a DJ on Friday nights. I was looking for a quieter type of dinner so I called back to inquire. The 2nd person (Evelyn) confirmed that they have a DJ that usually starts at 730pm on Friday nights. After a short chat, she changed my reservation to an earlier time so we could enjoy our meal without feeling like we're in the club! ;-) Both gals were patient and kind with our first timer questions. We arrived a little earlier than our reserved time (close to 6pm) and the parking lot had lots of open spaces. We parked and we were greeted by a nice woman who looked happy that we arrived early. We had planned to sit and wait, being that it was a Friday. But we were led to a table right away by a gentleman who looked to be a manager? He didn't say anything but we later saw him walking the room delegating, so to speak. Our 4 seater table was smack dab in the middle of a huge, high ceiling, open concept room that was filled with very long banquet tables. Each table was set for what looked like celebrations. There were a few other smaller tables. Parties were happening at some of the long tables and some of the smaller tables were filled with families that had kids. It was a bit loud but tolerable. We could hear one another speak just fine. Our waitress Alisha came over after a bit to greet us. She took drink orders as we explained it was out 1st time there and we were celebrating a 50th birthday. She was very busy handling one of the larger tables next to us, but we were never ignored. On the table was an open glass bottle of filtered water that was not very chilled. We poured ourselves and it was refilled without us asking by runners. Also on the table was seasoned olive oil for dipping bread. I didn't like that it was already there when we sat down, exposed to the air for who knows how long. But.....all was forgiven when the basket of warm bread came out. It was some of THE best table bread I have ever had. Alisha said it was their pizza dough. I could have eaten that all night and been satisfied. We had to stop ourselves! We each looked over the menu for a bit and ordered just entrees because of the bread! - One order of Ossobuco off the specials menu that came with paparadelle in a brown gravy like sauce. - One order of Filet of Sole Oreganata & Shrimp over sautéed spinach off the regular menu. (Both entrees came with a salad, choice of garden or caesar. The garden salad comes already mixed in their dressing. I ordered the dressing on the side. Good size, spring mix, very fresh). - The tweenager ordered mozzarella sticks appetizer as their dinner. It took a little bit for the food to come out but we were happy about that. We got to admire the greatness of the room. The huge photos on the wall, the birthday celebrations, the food coming and going (including massive amounts of take out orders). It was a well oiled machine and we enjoyed watching it all transpire. The birthday acknowledgement is a thing in itself. We had NO idea but it was all about to go down for us the same way after we ate! First a super loud speaker blasts a birthday song, then the other people dining in the restaurant stop what they're doing and start spinning their napkins in the air, while the wait staff brings over a dessert with a big flaming sparkler in it. How embarrassingly awesome! Which brings us to the dessert. A mint tartufo (Amazing). Also ordered to go, was a tiramisu (it was "ok"). No desserts made in house. By the time we got up to leave, the place was packed and the bar was full. As was the parking lot. Side note: due to Mother's Day being the week before, there was a schedule change and there was no DJ. Food = 4 stars. Piping hot and fresh but no wow factor with flavors. (Except for that bread!) Service = 5 stars Experience/Ambiance = 5 stars Points off for the parking lot being full of huge pot holes. I'm sure that could be fixed with the revenue being brought in. Water was warm-ish, apple juice was over iced and watered down, and bread dipping olive oil was out on the table before we sat down. We had no idea this was a chain of restaurants with other locations! All in all, we look forward to going back again and trying more food!

I believe Rich, the owner, stopped by our table several times to make sure everything was perfect, which added such a personal touch. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, like stepping onto the set of an old-world Italian movie. The soft Italian music, warm lighting, and elegant atmosphere made for a perfect dining experience. The drinks were spot on. I had two Belvedere vodkas on the rocks with martini olives, and they were perfectly prepared. The specials all sounded tempting, but the regular menu offers more than enough outstanding choices, with an impressive selection of pasta, chicken, veal, and seafood dishes. We started with the Insalata Mista, featuring romaine, Boston lettuce, chicory, radicchio, tomatoes, and anchovies, along with roasted peppers and anchovies. I can never get enough anchovies. For our entrées, we shared a bone-in chicken special served with a rich Gorgonzola cream sauce, and a simple but perfectly executed linguine with garlic and oil. Sometimes the simplest dishes are the most satisfying. Dessert was outstanding--a slice of rainbow cake served with zabaglione, fresh blueberries, and whipped cream, accompanied by two flawless cappuccinos. Yes, the food was outstanding. Yes, the service was outstanding. And yes, the atmosphere was outstanding. But what really sets this place apart is something that's hard to describe: the vibe. Wasn't thrilled about being sat against a wall, which made service a little difficult - some dropped food (slices of strip off the porterhouse fumbled as server tried slipping in, and he also dripped some sauce on my utensils/tablecloth in front of me) - minor things. We were four people, split two pastas and two mains after apps of zucchini flowers, octopus, barata / prosciutto salad, and a lamb skewer special. The strips of lamb where most underwhelming. For $30 i'd expect noticeably more tender meat, a premium cut (loin or rack), vs what seemed like maybe leg cooked too long, or maybe it was shoulder? Seasoning missed the mark, for me. Pasta course was the Parma wheel and gnocchi Amatriciana - the guanciale had that 'butcher' taste I like, a little soft vs crisped, but that's a feature in some styles. Pasta was clearly fresh. Then a beautiful piece of sea bass - really a standout - and the smaller ~32oz steak Florentine - a lean cut with a tremendous filet on it. All the vegetables, tomatoes, beans, pesto's accompanying the dishes were otherwise delicious. Deserts were great, don't pass on the gelato or sorbets.
