    Cold Seafood Salad

Carlo's is so much more than just a pizzeria, their food is not to be missed. They have an extensive menu but our favorite go-to item is the cold seafood salad. It's clean, light, and full of fresh seafood that is seasoned and dressed to perfection every single time. They have quite the group of regulars that lets you know they're doing something right, and their staff is always so friendly. We especially love visiting when Linda & Cheryl are working on Thursdays! Ask Linda for one of her specialty martinis if you see her!

Delish pizza, I loved that it was seasoned. It wasn't your typical Long Island style brick oven pizza- you have to to ask and order it that way "Carlos style". Didn't know that till after I ordered so make sure you get that hack if that's what you're looking for!

Carlos has some menu items from the old Aegean restaurant in the Sunvet mall. They make the pizza and have the salad dressing for the Greek salad. Some of the employees also have moved over here. It is nice to see some familiar faces. It's nothing fancy, but has traditional pizza place seating as well as a restaurant side with a bar. It is a great place to try some of your old favorites or to go when your schedule is busy and you want some "real food" to eat quick. They have a parking lot which is usually easy to find parking unless the dance studio in the building has classes.

Chicken Parm slider... comes with two, but the bread is definitely a few days old. It's $9.50 ..

Chicken Parm on the old roll isn't worth the calories. Had the baked clams which came with 6 and were chopped and very good. $7 wines for happy hour everyday! Horrible. Undercooked, super thick , overly cheesy with hardly any sauce . What a waste. $34 for Large Pizza half meatball!!

The pizza is ok, not much to write home about but nearly $30 for a pie is borderline criminal.

We read a recent review where someone proclaimed the owner to be nasty & unfriendly (sure, I am paraphrasing). Those types of reviews are generally emotionally charged and written by plebs I find. More on that toward the end. Pulling up to a rather unassuming east end Long Island small shopping plaza drenched in rain; opening the door, you are taken back to a semi rustic and dim interior. Perfectly elegant in its bucolic charm- with nice lounge music playing. It is a sit where one likes atmosphere. This is meant with the utmost of respect and candour. We were greeted kindly by the proprietoress (Jacqueline), and handed pleasantly robust binders with the wine list and food. Deciding to treat this in the more European café type, we had glasses and charcuterie. I, the Sagrantino, and her the Kerner. Jacqueline was vocally pleased with our interesting choices. The night drew on, more wine ensued, more food, multiple conversations, and I completed reading through each page and wine choice...finding much to be recognised and appreciated (Kirwan, Moric, Georg Breuer to name but a few) At the end of the night, I asked Jacqueline to pick an appropriate nightcap. She not only delivered, but gave us a wonderful story including the provenance and her experiences - ultimately, the word genius came up more than once. To wit, there was nothing here but an exceptional experience with a like-minded wine enthusiast. I felt welcomed and in the frith of old kin. Nasty, belligerent, dullard atmosphere- indeed not. The bar area is reminiscent of someone's basement bar and the dining area is loud with a very poor lighting design. The food itself is a joke. Very small portions and ridiculously expensive as well as being poorly prepared. We started with the white anchovy appetizer which consisted of 3 toothpicks with an olive wrapped in an anchovy, something you would find in a martini and not an appetizer. The lamb chops and the fish of the day were both overcooked and appetizer sized, but with entree pricing. The carrot cake dessert wasn't even a cake but a dried out cruller sitting on some cream cheese. The wine list was nothing to remember and equally overpriced. We won't be back.

There was a guy and a girl both so nice and they explained everything to us about the food and drink. We had the rice balls (arancini) and the cheese platter. The cheese platter was weird because I couldn't identify the meat and I believe they have since changed this. The arancini was very good. My husband had an old fashioned and I had an espresso martini which was very good. There was a baileys infused whipped cream on it. Take note of that for a second... Fast forward to this past Saturday. We stopped in just for a drink, we had already eaten. Hubby ordered a scotch and they asked what kind of ice with choices. He opted for a big cube, he got two of these. The bartender this time was a guy with tattoos, not super friendly but he was ok. I asked for the espresso martini again. I got one without the whipped cream, he said I didn't order the right one. I should have ordered the "Josh's"espresso martini. I didn't have that issue last time but ok...he didn't ask which one I preferred so whatever. Then we get the bill... Here's where it got interesting. We were charged $2 each time for the big ice cube and $3 for adding whipped cream to my martini. I'm sorry...what?? You are charging $2 for ice?? And $3 for a squirt of whipped cream?? YIKES! We struck up a conversation with ladies at the bar and showed them the bill. One of them told a female employee, perhaps possible owner that it's things like this that make people not come want to back. I don't understand how a new establishment trying to make it would be so transparent on nickel and diming people like this. The atmosphere is very nice, they are mostly friendly but it makes me rethink going back. It's not about the few dollars it's the principle of the matter. I wish I had saved the receipt to take a pic.

Everything was well-seasoned without being too salty, and everyone in our group was very impressed with their meals. The only downside was parking. It was a bit difficult to find a spot, but there appeared to be a private party or event going on, so that likely contributed to the crowded lot.
