We tried the Deluxe pizza and an Italian sub, and both were fantastic. Honestly, Joe's beats Marion's any day in my book! One tip: CALL AHEAD if you're doing carryout because there can be a pretty long wait. Once I got there, though, the service was fast and everyone was super friendly! Our family of four dined in on a Saturday at 12:30 pm. Orders are placed at the front counter. We ordered the small pepperoni pizza, small sausage pizza, and half a pound of boneless Buffalo wings. We seated ourselves after placing the order. The dine-in area has small tables mostly meant for parties with 2-4 people. Some of the benches and tables are so small that even a petite person like I am would have to carefully slide in to get seated. The dine-in area is relatively clean considering each patron is supposed to clean up after themselves. The food preparation took approximately 20 minutes. Names will be called out when the order is ready. The pizza had a very nice crust. With the adequate amount of pizza sauce and an abundance of pepperoni and sausage, these were easily one of the best pizzas we have ever had. The restaurant was easy to find, and the service was great. You order at the counter and then you sit down and wait for your name to be called to pick up your food. I ordered my "as usual pepperoni and sausage" I'm along with a 6 inch steak sandwich which I like with cheese, pizza sauce, pickle, and onion. The steak sandwich was delicious and I would put that above the pizza when ordering. I know that Joe's is a hometown, staple for this area and many love it, however I did like the crust and the Italian sausage was very good. The sauce wasn't as good as I had hoped, and if I had my preference for Dayton style pizzas I would take Marion's or Cassano's any day over this. Pricing was good on the restaurant was clean, including the restrooms. Place was extremely busy the day before Thanksgiving! Ordered for carry out and was estimated about 80-90 minutes. They were slinging pies like crazy, pumping them out so not concerns from me in regards to the wait - it happens on busy days. Process of payment was extremely easy, and once the pizzas were brought back, we saw that they put sausage on one of the pizzas accidentally. Again, with it being busy things happen, cannot complain with them doing their best. Bar none! The BEST pizza in DAYTON!! I grew up on this pizza and to this day it has remained the same pizza from what I remember as a child! It's affordable and the staff is so friendly and sincere. I'm getting to the point that I'm pretty much treating Yelp like Instagram and rarely take the time to write a review. That said, I really feel the need to praise the pizza at Joe's. A couple years ago, in 2015, my sister, brother-in-law and I visited Dayton for the first time in years. My BIL was born and raised in east Dayton, and we lived in Beavercreek through Jr High and High School before moving away. We all had been craving Dayton-style pizza, so the weekend between Christmas and New Years we drove up from NC for a weekend of sight seeing things like Rikes window displays, Carillon Park, Clifton Mill lights and of course, PIZZA. Our long-time favorite has always been Marions, and we also love Flying Pizza's Sicilian, which yes, isn't "Dayton-Style", but it's the taste of our youth. It's funny, but if you ask anyone from Dayon "Hey, what's the best pizza you've ever tasted in Dayton" and they'll all say "Cassano's". And if you ask "What's the worst pizza you've ever tasted in Dayton?" they'll say "Cassano's". So, due to their inconsistency and due to their move from provolone cheese to Provel (We aren't in St. Louis, Cassano's!) we dropped them from our list. We were wrapping up enjoying a couple cigars at "The Wharf" when we ran into a local buddy. David thought it was funny that we were craving Dayton-style pizza so badly that we made a pizza pilgrimage, and when we listed off the places we were hitting he said "So of course you are going to Joe's. Right?" Joe's? Never heard of it. It was less than a half hour later that we were sitting at Joe's with our buddy. And to get to the important part that you came here for, we ordered a large pepperoni and we were BLOWN AWAY! The crust was unbelievably thin, crisp yet chewy. Firm enough to hold the sauce and toppings without problem. We all agreed that they used a little more sauce than we were used to, but it was good and we all liked the moisture and taste acidity that it added. The cheese was just perfect. Not too much, not too little. But the star of the show was the pepperoni itself. As it cooks in their classic stone hearth oven, the pepperoni curls-up and crips-up like Bacon! It was phenomenal! As we wrapped-up our week we had several other local pizzas, but we all agreed that of all the places we tried, Joe's takes the prize as best pizza in Dayton. Fast forward to Oct 2023 my sister and I found ourselves back in Dayton for an even at the Shopsmith power tool factory, and just as before we took advantage of the event to relive our pizza pilgrimage of 2015. We had Sicilian at Flying Pizza, we had Marion's, and then we went to Joe's. Once again, they nailed it! And the price was undeceivable reasonable. I know this will sate this review, but we got a large pepperoni pizza and two 20oz pops for $20. Joe, you need to raise your prices by 50 cents and make sure your staff is properly appreciated and that you are profitable. Speaking of the staff and the restaurant itself; The staff are friendly, clean and tidy and hard-working and the interior of the dining area is a bit old and dated, but it is clean and well kept. Early in the pandemic my bride and I took a trip to Dayton for a funeral, and we shared a Joe's pepperoni in the car. She wasn't as impressed as we were during either of our dine-in experiences, but I still enjoyed it and was happy that they were doing their best to produce great food. read more

When I tell your guys the pizza was good, nothing compared to the pepperoni. It was SOOO good! It was crunchy on the outside and not chewy at all. We did take out today from Joes Pizzeria. In a nutshell - it's uninteresting Dayton pizza. It will fill you up, it's ok but it's not great pizza. Here's the assessment: Crust - it's a preformed platter crust made with the wrong flour. Sauce - flavor was good. 50/50 Review To start, I placed a phone order for carry out. They kept asking my name as there was another order with same first name and similar/not really similar last name. Somewhere in the mix my order got missed or pizza was given to someone else, so they had to make it after they realized it wasn't done. Ended up getting the order comped for the extended wait. Growing up in Dayton I've tried a variety of pizzas, my family loves pizza, so when a co-worker recommended Joe's Pizza, she said its the best pizza in Dayton, which I never heard of I needed to stop by and try out. We stopped by on Saturday late afternoon and anytime you pull up on a restaurant and the parking lot is full thats a good sign. We walked in and were welcomed by the team behind the register, but also told there was an hour wait for the pizza. I was with my parents, so we grabbed a menu sat in the dining room to review. We decided on a jumbo deluxe pizza and a second mushroom & pepperoni pizza. While we were waiting on the pizza we enjoyed 2 small bags of Mikesell's potato chips and shared a pitcher - their pitchers are only $8.75 and come with frosty mugs, you can also order a jumbo soda of Pepsi products for only $2. Each pizza comes hot right out of the oven and cut into little squares, plus on top of aluminum foil, which keeps the pizza hot. There are tons of toppings on the pizza, the most pepperoni I've ever seen on a pizza and a nice thick sauce plus the crust has a nice crisp to it, so much better than two other Dayton area pizza joints. Well we enjoyed every bite and even took leftovers home, so note one pizza is plenty, we were stuffed. They were swamped, I've never been to a pizza place where the phone was constantly ringing the whole time and the lobby area packed with people waiting to pick up their pizza. I would never set foot In this place again. He staff was rude and didn't have the order correct when I arrived to pick it up. They asked if I wanted the pizza remade and I said yes. They never remade the pizza and gave me the cold one after it took them 15 minutes to "rush" fries to be made that were soggy and not at all good. There was the perfect amount of toppings so it tasted good at every bite but didn't make the crust floppy. And the price was right!
