We appreciated different recommendations, and grateful we didn't feel rushed through the dining (since customers kept on coming in). We got half Dr. Dre and half Killer Veggie; we also got their seasonal salad of southwest salad (forgot to take the photo since we immediately dug in). This was our first time at Dewey's. We've heard their pizzas are delicious. I chose to celebrate my 40th birthday here today with my little family. I agree that the salad and pizzas were fantastic! Their service was horrible! We were given the wrong bill. We did not look at it. We just gave the waitress our card. When we were about to leave gratuity and sign it, we realized it was not our bill. It was definitely less than what ours would have been. We are honest people so we took it upon ourself to let them know. When they took our pizzas back to pack it up for us, the waitress informed us that she dropped the left over cheese pizza. She apologized and said she would take it off our bill and make a new one. Apparently the manager was suppose to come talk to us. The waitress came by and asked if the manager stopped by. He did not at all. We've all been done eating and we're just waiting for the new "cheese pizza" they were suppose to make for us. We sat there for about another 10-15mins waiting for the cheese pizza. We decided to just get up and leave. We saw the waitress and she said it's done and she would go get it. She came back out and walked straight to the manager. Apparently there was so many miscommunication between the kitchen, the waitress and manager. There was no new pizza being made for us. Literally wasted our time and energy. Since moving to Ohio, Dewey's has been on my list of places to try. I finally got to try it this past weekend while visiting a friend in Dayton. We ordered take-out on a Friday night and it was ready in about 45 minutes. We went with a medium (13") southwest BBQ chicken pizza and split a full peppercorn ranch salad. The pizza has a bbq sauce base, topped with smoked cheddar & mozzarella cheeses, black bean-corn salsa, chicken and roasted red peppers. The salad included romaine lettuce, bacon, tomatoes, shaved parmesan, red onions, topped with peppercorn ranch dressing. For some reason I was expecting Deweys to be a mainly carry out/delivery pizza joint, so was pleasantly surprised when I picked up the order -- the inside was packed with people dining in, they have a full bar and plenty of seating. One of the coolest parts was the glass panes that provide direct view of the staff members making the pizzas by hand. There were several children lined up watching, and I also enjoyed watching while I waited for the food to be brought out. The pizza was packed with flavor and I enjoyed the corn and black bean salsa. If I'm being hypercritical, the crust could have been a little crispier and I would have preferred the red peppers to have been cooked a bit more. However, I would definitely order the same pizza again. That said, since they have such a large selection of specialty pizzas, I could also see myself trying a different one! All in all, will definitely be ordering from Dewey's again. read more

Dayton has several excellent pizza choices. (Hello Marion's and many others...). On a recent visit, I searched best restaurants in Dayton and on one site saw Dewey's as the #1 restaurant in town - not pizza joints but top restaurant in the entire city. (!). Out of curiosity, I had to give it a try. We ordered three different pizzas and the crusts were absolutely superb. Ryan's Inferno is like a Buffalo chicken pizza and was delightful! It was not too spicy with a generous amount of chicken, sauce, celery. The crust has a nice chewy texture, with ranch spiral celery gave a good crunchy contrast. Would def come back. read more

Service was a 10/10; i was asked if i wanted a refill, more napkins, a box for our pizza, ect.. i was attended to more times in my hour long stay than my parents did to me as a toddler. just kidding, my parents love me. but that's besides the point, what im getting at here is there was never a dull moment here at Dewey's pizza. As for the food: My amazingly great girlfriend and i got the caprice pizza. the crust was fantastic, softer than my pillow after a 24 hour shift at work. the tomato's were delightful, tasted like they were handpicked from the kind neighbors garden down the street in your friendly suburban neighborhood. and last but not least, the cheese. not too much but not too little, just like little bears soup. it was just perfect!!!! shout out to Dewey's pizza on brown st. First time at Dewey's. Place nice, clean, and busy but not overly busy. We started with a House Salad we split. It was tasty and big enough for both of us. We had a Large Specialty half and half, Don Corleone and Meatball. Don Corleone had plenty of Salami and Pepperoni toppings on a thick crust. Sauce is Spicy along with the Pepperoni. I thought it was ok my wife thought it was much too spicy. Meatball had plenty of Meatballs but was a little lean on the Fresh Mozzarella and Basil toppings. Some slices had hardly any at all on them. Servers were friendly and started out good but they seemed to be short handed and were not able to be as attentive as they should be. To be honest,we won't be back. There are too many other better pizza restaurants. read more

I love Deweys. I wish I lived closer. But whenever circumstances find me in the area, I jump at the chance to dine here. Recently it was with my sister at Christmas time. We were both feeling generous and contributed to the panhandler at the front door (we arrived seperately). That's a downside to dining here, but that's life. We shared a salad. There should be a better name that salad cause it was awesome ... A Harvest salad with dried fruit and pumpkin seeds I think. Two of us couldn't finish it. Think large. And same with pizza ... even tho we opted for a medium. It was the monthly special and oh so tasty. As is everything I've ever eaten here. And pricing is reasonable for the quality. Popular, BUSY location... We were lucky to get a seat on a recent Saturday afternoon without too long a wait, and a cozy, sunny window seat to boot!! Nice spot to gather with a bunch of family and friends and sample the tempting, creative offerings available at this local "institution!!" Both their salad and pizza offerings showed plenty of variety, creativity, and not just the same old, same old. You can watch their pizzas prepared as you wait to be seated, so you know you're getting a fresh, "real deal" pizza. The large salad we ordered was one of their rotating specials, and plenty for two people. We went for a veggie pizza (minus olives, yuck!!) and it was great, but I sort of wish we had gone 50-50, or possibly ordered two small pizzas, to be able to try more of what they have to offer... Next time!!! As I said, it was REALLY busy in there, but we had great service, and never felt rushed, nor ignored in favor of some tables with diners in the double digits. Is the pizza THE BEST in the area? Well.... You know me, I'm a die-hard NY pizza snob, and if you I'm not whining, moaning, and/or groaning about the pizza here in Ohiooooooooooo, it's really not bad at all!! Let me start this by saying that Deweys is an oasis of yummyness in Dayton's desert of pizza. It's by far the best pizza in Dayton! Bar none! This is partly due to the hand tossed crust adding to the quality of the pizza. It's great! Ok. 5 of us had 4 types of pizza yesterday. 1. Porky Fig. Fig ham, mozzarella, red onions and Gorgonzola. Doesn't sound like it would work but it's just plain heaven! 2. Socrates Revenge. Black & green olives, garlic, fontina, onions and chopped tomatoes. It's on the yummy scale as a major marker. 3. Meatball. Meatballs, mozzarella, basil, oregano, Parmesan. This one is more like the traditional pizza with the Deweys touch. It's awesome. 4. Cheese pizza. There is something about a cheese pizza that seems just plain wrong to me. If I'm going through all the effort to travel to a restaurant, I'm going to want more on my pizza. But this one was for the grandkids and they bashed on it. Using that as a measure, it appears to have also hit high marks. Service is always fast and friendly. We love Deweys and we will be back. I Usually love Dewey's, but tonight you failed. I ordered a pizza, one of the standard menu pizzas, A 13 inch Edgar Allan Poe, I arrived two minutes prior to the time I was told it would be ready, I texted them and they brought it out within a couple of minutes which was great. After my 4 minute drive home, I opened the box to find my almost cold 13 inch pizza was basically all crust with very few toppings. I have always been a huge supporter of Dewey's Pizza and I have never had a bad experience, but tonight it was terrible. I Paid over $20 for a pizza crust and couple of toppings. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because Dewey's crust is flavorful. You need to do better than that. I hope you can fix the quality issue:( read more

NUM NUM NUM! Dewey's is absolutely one of the best pizza joints in Daytons dismal pizza city. I feel like when they make salads they hand pick each piece of lettuce because these things look and taste perfect. Perfect crunch, perfect dressing, perfect flavor. Some of the best salads I've ever eaten. Woah wait...let's get back to the pizza. This is about our 100th time eating Dewey's and every freaking time it's the same. Same excellent service, same excellent food, same excellent experience. Dewey's is one of those rare place you can take the CEO of yours company and you know it's gonna be good. We had a party of 10. Everyone one of us was thrilled with our pizzas. I ordered (my personal fav) the porky fig. This bad Larry has fig jam sauce instead of your normal every day tomato sauce.
