The first time I went to this establishment, there was a bit of a wait for the food. While this didn't pose a problem for me and I didn't feel inclined to complain, they gave me a gift card as an apology. This demonstrates that this business deeply cares about their service and quality. Especially because nobody had even made a comment about the wait time. Old scratch is a cozy little place, excellent for big groups or family gatherings. Their menus are excellently designed. All of their graphic design choices are very intentional and gorgeous. I love this place a lot!!

The sauce wasn't as good as I had hoped, and if I had my preference for Dayton style pizzas I would take Marion's or Cassano's any day over this. Pricing was good on the restaurant was clean, including the restrooms. I will go back and give it another try but as my first time here, I was not impressed with the pizza from what I was expecting.

The ambiance isn't why you go, it's the great food! I say that because there are only 3 tables inside that can seat 4 or 5 people maximum. And it's not fancy looking. But the pizza was excellent. My adult daughter declared it was the best pizza she'd had in a couple of decades. And she's a picky eater. We all enjoyed the pizza. A especially nice touch is that they have a bulletin board where people have pre-paid for meals for people who can't afford to eat. If you are in that situation, you walk in, choose a receipt, and take it to the counter to get your free meal. It obviously hadn't been abused, as there were at least a dozen pre-paid receipts there. We really liked that community service aspect. But the only reason I'm writing this review (after the fact; sorry I didn't get photos) is that the pizza was great and the cost was also great. We highly recommend them!
