I have been here about ten times. I am always satisfied. The food is consistently good! The red sauce is made fresh daily and it is made with love. The shrimp fra Diavlo is my favorite! The linguine, sauce, nice size shrimp, clams and mussels are put together nicely. I took some home and it was just a delicious a day later! The semolina bread thats served with red peppers and olive oil, are fantastic. And the carafe of house red wine to wash it all down is magnificent! Took a little jaunt over to Ridgewood to meet some relatives and found this little neighborhood gem. Service is highly rated, there's a swarm of people that are buzzing around to make sure your glasses are filled and food is served up quickly. Meatballs and calamari for apps were really good and the fresh bread before the meal was outstanding. We had a sampling of spaghetti bolognese, chicken Alfredo and clams in white wine sauce. Also don't skip on the house Cabernet. I'm a bit of a wine snob and this was honestly so good. We came in on a Friday at 530pm and ordered the fried calamari and Penne vodka with grilled chicken and everything was delicious - the portions were huge. The place quickly filled up and by 630pm almost all the table were filled up. I had a lot of leftover pasta and the Italian bread with pickled peppers and olive oil and butter was amazing. Joes has been our family go-to spot for years. For special occasions, date nights or just to grab a meal it's always 10/10. Most of the servers have been there many years and somehow manage to recall many names of customers. Even after I moved away to New Jersey and hadn't visited in a while, I walked in to a "hey Steve, where've you been?" Food is ALWAYS top notch. Haven't been back in years but came last night with my husband and sister in law. Place was packed on a Friday night but didn't wait too long for a table. Service was amazing. Iv lived in ridgewood my entire life and never have i been to Joes Restaurant till today. And i have to tell you it's a hidden gem. The staff is great and friendly. Every plate that came to our table was fresh. I had the Gnocchi n vodka sauce special It was beautiful. Perfect amount of flavor. But what really made this experience 1000X better was that when you ask for parmesan cheese they bring you a small bowl with a spoon so you can pour as much cheese as you like. My family and I went out to try Joe's for the first time this weekend. The restaurant is wedged in this very peaceful block in the middle of the neighborhood. We came around 1 in the afternoon, which was perfect timing because the tables started filling up within the hour. It's safe to say that probably the restaurant was filled by the time we left. But if anything, it brought in the comfortable vibe even moreso as we were bookended with two families celebrating their tiny reunions and birthdays. It was incredibly sweet to see such a warm environment. And the food reflected that as well! It's probably a dumb thought to mention that I feel like I haven't had great calamari since I've tried the dish after returning to the restaurants since the pandemic, but Joe's brought that back! The calamari was fantastic, as was the rest of our meals! Generous portion sizes and absolutely delicious! I'm not particularly a fan of sweets but I can vouch for my family and say that they loved the tiramisu as well! The shrimp salad I ordered was not as good as I anticipated and the shrimp was overly seasoned and not fully cooked. Shrimp should never be clear and only pink slightly near the tails. The house dressing served on the side was mostly oil with a touch of seasoning and really didn't have much flavor. Quaint place, no parking but worth looking for parking. The eggplant parm was so good and it's not something I would ever order but it came highly recommended. The fried calamari fresh and not over cooked, the chicken parm was good too and I'm a sauce snob the sauce wasn't too acidic or sweet just right. We celebrated my father's 89th Birthday this past February and I wanted to take the time to thank Joe's for the great service and delicious food. My father is legally blind and one of the concerns is always being in a comfortable, spacious and well light atmosphere. He felt so comfortable and the staff was so friendly and patient with him and he enjoyed conversing in italian with the waiters. It is a really lovely place in Ridgewood with good solid Italian cuisine. Still thinking about the warm bread and peppers in olive oil. You can't go wrong with Joe's. The food tastes like your nonna made it. Every dish on the menu is made with love. It's also good size portions at an affordable price. Amazing spot in the neighborhood. The food amazing. The service was incredible. We came into a busy Saturday night but, a beautiful space with happy faces and welcome greeting by the owner Joe. This is my son and I's new favorite local restaurant. If you're looking for that "family" atmosphere with GREAT food... look no further. Today was our second time there. My son asked for apple juice. Francisco went out of the restaurant and bought my son apple juice just because he wanted it and they ran out! Amazing customer service. Huge portions. Second best was probably the prices, but they are reflecting the mediocre food. What I did not enjoy: Almost non existent cocktail/wine list (but it did come with misspellings) Pasta almost definitely not made in house, I think I could do better at home Desserts not made in house -- tiramisu tasted like it had been frozen Music was techno beats like we were in a club We had to wait and watch others be seated ahead of us even though we had a reservation Vegetables did not seem fresh either -- very mushy both in the pasta and as a side dish Our waiter was nice but a little weird I think this place just wasn't for me, there are plenty of people in the reviews who really enjoyed it. Does this photo look like eggplant parmigian to you, because that's what I ordered and this is what I got, some kinda grilled eggplant. Plus, I was told 30 mins, got there 35 mins later and still had to wait 10 more mins. All of my orders were takeout or delivery. Maybe the people on the phone are the problem. Whatever the case, its frustrating as hell. Also, the place was PACKED when I picked up my last order. Not at all practicing any distancing. I always start with a Caesar salad and I love me some fettuccini Alfredo so I always get that with breaded chicken cutlet.
