The complimentary drink was a nice prelude to my steak entree. I usually reserve beef as a treat and then order prime rib or rib eye but lately I have discovered how sirloin, when properly prepared is a very delicious alternative. Wallet friendly too. I was impressed when my steak arrived exactly med-rare like requested. It is amazing when this happens because so often it misses the mark. Praise here. The fries were cooked in a gluten free deep fryer (awesome for us gluten sensitive peeps) the rocket greens and preserved cherry tomatoes were tender and seasoned just right. So look, if you live in the LM or larger centres in B.C. and Alta you've probably dined at a JOEY's and you know it's going to be a good meal. You're going to pay for it, but you'll seldom have a bad meal. Parking can be a challenge if you're new, but you'll figure it out, to the amusement of locals. Once parked getting there can also be entertaining, but again you'll figure it out. Entrance from street level is far easier. Inside the space is intimate and elegant, but very open with two floors and the entrance at the bottom making it three floors in all. Service is what JOEY is all about for us, well rehearsed and attentive using multiple staff. My Mediterranean salad was very tasty, the chicken was about the right portion, but I felt I should have got more of the kalamata olive, the gem tomatoes, roasted peppers, in the salad. At close to $30 it should be better. I'd have it again however. K's Hibachi Wings and salad also hit the mark. The salad was plentiful, but the lack of the selling items, the yummy bits, was noticeable. The wings were nicely cooked and they needed really nothing other than what they came with while hot. I'm a hot wing sauce guy so that is a high praise from me. Looking back at the menu, I think the only thing during Happy Hour that is $5 is the fries. The regular ones of course. Not the Truffle Parmesan fries. I guess that sign is to lure people in. Kinda misleading cuz the way it's written in bold print, makes one think that there will be multiple items on the menu that only cost $5 when really the menu items start as low as $5, but most items cost more than $5. Weather was good but unfortunately, due to wildfires the air was quite smoggy. If it weren't for that, we might have requested a table on the rooftop patio. We chose to dine inside this time. My husband doesn't like Parmesan cheese so we asked if we could have the Truffle Parmesan Fries without Parmesan. Our server said "yes", we could do that. Wasn't too impressed with the fries. The Truffle part is just a dip and although we could see little black specks in the dip, we couldn't really taste any truffle flavor from it. I feel the Tempura prawns could have been a bit crispier. I suppose these weren't horrible but I have definitely had crispier tempura prawns and wasn't blown away by these. The rest of the food was very good. I was recently inspired by the excellent service of Kim, who started at this location 17 years ago. Thumbs up for staying passionate and keeping up the good attitude and attentive service! Been to various Joey's for lunch, dinner and happy hour and this is my preferred location. I like its extra spacious dining area, chic & relaxing vibes, free parkade. It's a plus that they have rooftop patio and spacious interior with easy elevator access, A+ on good accessibility options plus wooden decor and modern ambiance. Solid steakhouse menu options for red meat lover and a full menu of beverages choices from zero alcohol mocktails to BC beers to French reds. I like their steak and the signature French dip is a yummy appy. During HH, I also recommend their cute dessert option of the donuts duo and the sushi cones. Tho they don't have a lot of items on their happy hour menu; it's a good place for meetup with business acquaintance or drinks with friends. Came here for a grad celebration. The space is huge. Ambiance is a bit too dark. Server is very friendly although she forgot to tell us about the changes in Happy Hour. And that is, you can only avail of Happy Hour prices in the lounge but not in the dining area. I enjoyed the appetizers a lot. Food is good I should say although not spectacular. We went to Joey yesterday for my mom's birthday. Joey reserved a table for 4 of us including a birthday card and a flower. That was a pleasant surprise for us. The atmosphere was spotless and beautiful. Even the washrooms were so tidy. We ordered Lobster Spaghetti ($32), Steak Frites ($32.75), Baja Fish Taco ($21) and Yellow Fin Tuna Salad ($28.50). Lobster Spaghetti was good. It had a slight sour taste, but was cooked perfectly. Lobster meats were quite small. Steak frites were small. Fries were pretty good. Baja Fish Taco and tuna salad were good as well. Taco mostly had veggies with less fish. It had 2 pcs of Tacos as mentioned on the menu. I'd personally say 3 stars for the food in general. This is the third time I went to joeys. The first time the experience was wonderful, what you would expect: great food and great service. The second time was a disaster. The service was so slow and my food was awful. I ordered the steak and ravioli, medium rare. It took forever for the food to come out, and when it did they had so completely over cooked my steak that it visually shrunk quite a bit. They made me a new one, 30 min later, the new one was very rare and for something that rare, I have no idea how it could be so tough. But the manager came over and comp'ed my order so I just choked it down and let it go. The third time... they got the food right but communication and service was awful. They told me that there were crayons and they would bring it out for the kids in a bit. 20 min later after my son constantly bugging me for it they server finally says, "Oh sorry, we are out." Why couldn't they have told me this 15 minutes earlier??? Would have saved me so much stress, "Mom... mom... mom..." But that alone doesn't deserve any stars taken away. It was the rest of the service... We had 3 tables, so party of 15. We were there over 3 hours because they were that slow to take orders and bring out the food. In that time my water was refilled twice. Seriously, if you can't even keep the water topped up just leave us pitchers please. You zooming by to fill my glass halfway then running off again does not cut it. At the end of the night, after the shitty service, the server insisted on 18% tip because we were a large group. My wife was pissed but didn't want to make a scene since we had a large group. Joey's, if you're going to charge a mandatory tip, which is fine, TRAIN YOUR SERVERS BETTER. I felt so ripped off, like the server knew he was going to get an 18% tip from everyone and just didn't give a crap. read more

Send your enemies, not your friends Let me start by saying the restaurant was not busy on a Thursday night (red flag 1), the waitress was pretty rude (red flag 2) AND she had an AirPod in her ear (it looked like she was trying to cover it up with her hair - red flag 3). She would reach over and stick her arm in our face and clear the table first of the extra utensils and then our plates very loudly while my friends and I were talking. I used to work in the dining industry and that was a very big no no. You're supposed to walk around, make as little noise/cause as little disruption as possible or make small talk. She failed to do any of this. This waitress was definitely eager to go home. I thought Joey's was a little more upscale but I think it's just basic white food - like McDonald's but food is served to us (but McDonald's would never mess up my fries - red flag 4). I am absolutely flabbergasted that a restaurant like Joey's could mess up french fries. There was so much salt on them and they had the audacity to serve it to us with ketchup. Are you trying to raise my cholesterol?! I didn't even know it was possible to mess up french fries. My friends and I ordered the joeys cheeseburger with beer and guess what - the burger was just as salty as the fries (red flag 5)!!!!! The only reason we finished our food was because we were famished (however we could not finish the fries - can I even call them fries? There was more salt than potato in that mixture). Note for the burger, we think it was the sauce was too salty because I ordered a grilled chicken instead of the beef patty and both types of burgers were super duper salty (I was also charged $7.50 for changing the protein - they did not disclose the cost - red flag 6). I'm horrified to hear that this is one of their *bestsellers* which makes me question the quality of their other food. Needless to say, this was a terrible dining experience, and I can fathom why this place was almost empty on a random Thursday night. If you're looking for an amazing local burger joint, I suggest bin4, A&W or White Spot. I've never been so disgusted with any restaurant food and customer service, and I frequent Asian restaurants (iykyk). Also, the manager had issues with her employees which significantly impacted the mood at the restaurant (red flag 7). My friends and I will not be dining here again, but don't worry, Joey's, I'll send you my enemies. I would give this place 0/5 stars if I could. Nothing was good at this place and actually, I would have paid money to not have this experience. read more

Went for dinner and drinks with friends on a Friday night. We sat in the bar section. The waitress was nice and brought over cocktails on the house for us to start. The menu is on the pricier side; with salads in the $20s. Steaks were $36+ if I remember correctly. I had the ahi tuna sushi cones with mango. They were delicious; made with some sort of rice paper and not seaweed. I also tried their crème brûlée cheesecake which was delicious. 2 desserts rolled in one. The cheesecake was nice and light. The bar manager came by and offered us samples of their steak as well. Friends and yellowtail tuna salad (their go to at Joey), beef dip and ravioli (which she raves about). NOey to Joey... I have tried all the locations multiple times throughout the years and the last time here was almost half a decade ago. This place is located on the second floor of the same complex as Save On Food and Winners along Lougheed Hwy close to Willingdon Avenue. Arrived close to 9pm, waited almost 10-15mins before someone came to help even tho the place was literally almost empty, led to the bar but opted for the dining area (Geesh, doesn't take much to ask first?) Here were the food I ordered; 1. She pretty. Nice little mocktail but outside of the glass wasn't rinsed thoroughly, still had that detergent smell. 2. Sliders Royale. Dry, lack of ingredients and tasted nothing but the cheese. Secret sauce? How about secretly remake these sliders to a better standard? 3. Seared salmon sushi. Where's the wasabi and soy sauce? lol (just kidding, not all sushi have to have that). Nicely pressed and seared, all the ingredients fused nicely together to give that tasty bite. 4. Hot wings. They looked dry and tiny much in need of a viagra injection but surprisingly they were tasty and juicy. Maybe Frank's hot sauce is good on anything?!? 5. Blackened chicken. I ordered this cause I had a similar dish at Cactus Club and it was juicy AF, almost had an orgasm eating it. BUT not this one, this one should be renamed "DriedUp Chicken". 6. Herb crust salmon. The ingredients were nicely put together and I enjoyed the taste BUT the salmon was overcooked. Having a perfectly cooked salmon is harder than cooking a steak. The place was decently clean, seemingly a nice place to have a drink and socialize whether at the bar section or dining area. As for the service, besides my server being good, everything else was a joke; waited almost 10-15mins before the hostess came (I was very visible to the staffs and the restaurant wasn't even the slightest busy), without asking led me to the bar section until I stopped her that I preferred the dining area as I want some quiet time (service 101 greet and ask??), and seated me at a tiny azz table between the bar and dining section right beside a partition (hostess 101 failed..facepalm). The food quality was certainly a few steps backward from what I remembered before. Overall, nothing was impressive enough to score me a lucky dessert that night. P.S. what's happening nowadays? Not only was the food OUTSTANDING, (I highly recommend the ceviche, it looks as amazing as it tastes!) but the service was topnotch! Kim was attentive, funny, and charming! In a very accessible intersection of Vancouver, a friend and I went in for dessert. The host was very agreeable when she tried to seat us at a table, and I just happen to notice that across from chosen table was MY BOSS having a business dinner! So, I quickly told her (mouthed to her) "that's my boss! can we be seated elsewhere?!" She was kind, nodded, and led us to a table near the window far from the view of my boss (who I had interacted with all day). Phew! We opted for hot tea and a delicious chocolate molten cake with berries and ice cream. It was divine! We asked for the raspberry coolie on the side, because we're not fans of the sugary sauce. Happy Hour Review: Went to happy hour 2 weeks ago and the new beer&burger combo, at $22, is more expensive and less value than previous happy hour burger. New version, although double patty) is smaller, they got rid of the better quality brioche bun and this combo does not come with fries. Previous burger, at $16.95, was a bigger burger on a nice brioche bun and came with fries. We usually upgraded to add mushrooms and cheese for an extra $5 for a total of $22. Now there is no burger without beer; otherwise you have to order off regular menu for $26. Do better Joey's; there are many other eateries out there. read more

We sat at the bar and were greeted right away and had our order taken by the bartender. Then he restocked the glass wear, made some other drinks and disappeared. Luckily after a while Mackenzie came up to us and asked if we wanted to order. I said we were waiting for our drinks. Her friendliness and hospitality saved the day. The restaurant from the outside is hard to find if you've not been there before. The restaurant inside is gorgeous. We were greeted with complimentary champagne flutes when we arrived and the server was extremely patient with us as we looked at the menu and chatted. I had a Moscow mule which was delicious and you could really taste the fresh ginger in it. For a warm day. It was extremely refreshing. I had a chicken teriyaki bowl for dinner but for a dish that cost almost $20. I didn't feel it was any different from teriyaki bowls that I have had at other places. Was here for lunch today with a friend, sadly the patio was closed due to rainy weather. I got the Bombay Butter Chicken - it was surprisingly good! With a little kick to it. The naan and the crispy thing (not sure what it's called) were good as well, but not when dipped into the sauce - they were better by themselves. Friend got the California Chicken burger, which she enjoyed but the bread was soggy.. She didn't quite finish the meal. We got a Molten Chocolate Cake for dessert, which was a little too sweet for my taste but my friend enjoyed it (she has a sweet tooth). Great service too, my water was never empty.
