We had a 18:30 reservation and were seated promptly. Our server was attentive, took drink orders quickly, and walked us through the evening's specials. I went in with one clear goal: the filet mignon. Five of us ordered steaks, most medium-rare, but the kitchen execution was inconsistent across the table. One steak came out overcooked to well done, another was undercooked closer to rare, while mine was prepared correctly. Unfortunately, consistency was the main issue. The steaks had a good sear and flavor, but several were on the dry side. The highlights of the meal were the starters and sides. The crispy calamari was excellent and easily the standout dish. The crab dip was also well received by the table. The bread that comes with the salads deserves special mention as well, light, slightly sweet, and very fresh, melts in your mouth. The side salads were also great. For my entrée sides, the carrots were well prepared, but the brussels sprouts were undercooked and lacked seasoning, I like a little more flavor especially on my brussels. Dessert brought the meal back up. The apple-pie-ala-mode and brownie with ice cream were both excellent and a strong finish to the evening. Service throughout the night was very good. Our waiter was attentive, efficient, and quick to clear plates. He removed the dirty dishes quicker than a UPS driver working peak-season overtime. Last week I was in town for a work event. My coworker had been given the recommendation to visit Joey D's for our first night group dinner. We had a small group of 7 and we had an amazing time. Our server was David and he was extremely attentive with a good sense of humor. Even with some extra requests on some orders everything came out just as requested. In addition to the excellent service, the food and drinks were too. We started with some honey croissants and the onion rings. Both were great and generous in size. I was lamented to leave behind some uneaten onion rings. A few of us had the filet and everyone's were cooked to perfection. The entrees came with a salad and a side rather than being à la carte which was a nice surprise. Cocktails were well crafted and the options for wine were nice. We were too stuffed for desert, but those that were being served around us looked delicious. If I find myself in the area again I'd love to visit again. I'd wanted to try Joey D's for a while, and am glad I finally did. Inside the vibe is definitely nicer steakhouse, with a big bar, dim lighting and well-dressed waitstaff, but at least for lunch plenty of customers were dressed casually. As I was here for lunch, I decided not to get the steak, but they looked good. I got the corned beef and the sandwich was great, with the meat piled high. The fries were spot on too. My Family and I dined at Joey D's Oak Room on Father's Day Weekend--Sat. (06/20/26) at about 6:30 pm. My family brought me here for my annual Father's Day steak dinner which is my favorite meal (but health wise I can't eat steak that often). The food and the ambience was OUTSTANDING in every respect. I was in town for work and wanted a reasonable steak at a casual spot. This place was fairly close to the hotel. I sat at the bar. The server was friendly and attentive. I had the filet with a ceasar salad and baked potato. The steak was fine. I wished it was a bit more medium rare, but I was too hungry to send it back. It had good flavor so that made up for it. Y'all need to head out to Joey D's oak room for the holidays. They have prime rib from 4 PM on for $41 and full set of baby back ribs for 31 desserts are around eight bucks. You can also get Scooby's or the little crab claws for the appetizer And everything is really delicious. Have to say I'm a big fan of the cream spinach our server our server Alivia was wonderful. She had a lot of patience. She's very kind and very thorough and did an excellent job of checking in on us and providing us with all of the dishes and cutlery to go boxes really very thankful for her service. We had reservations for 8.30pm on a Saturday evening. I am glad we did! We were visiting this area due business travel. We wanted a nice steak dinner and we found it! We arrived at 8.15pm and the place was packed! We ended up waiting until close to 9pm for our table but were able to snag seats at the bar after about 15mins. After we were sat at a nice booth, our very attentive and knowledgeable waitress appeared to answer all our questions and quickly fetch our salads and drinks. This was followed by two delightful steaks and piping backed potatoes! My husband had the garlic strip steak, he doesn't normally order strip steak as he performs very lean meat but this was perfect! I ordered the American Wagu and it was divine! I don't use that term lightly! Both had too much to eat and we decided it was just too good to leave behind so we took it to go, and I actually took it home the next day and continued to eat on this for 2 days. Let me just say that this is one of the best displays of alcohol at the bar and I have see in the area. They have TONS to pick from so there is no way to not be able to find something you want. It's absolutely beautiful! Anyway, this is near the mall, not too far. It's in it's own parking lot but it's free so that's a plus. The vibe you may get is business casual, depending on what time you go. It's nowhere near a sports bar vibe. There are a couple of TVs at the bar but it's not enough for a group of people to watch a game. If you want to watch the Superbowl or world series, this isn't that kind of situation. They had indoor and outdoor seating as well. So on one of those nice days, you can catch a breeze and a view (it's of the parking lot but still lol). The bartender was super nice and got me together. I asked her for some suggestions and options and she did not disappoint. Calamari - the calamari was pretty good. Flash fried but not overly greasy and heavy. This place has been on my list for a while and during a staycation I decided to check it out The atmosphere is nice. It does remind me of an old lounge/social club of the 20's. I made a reservation but got there early enough during the day where it wasn't needed but it got full really quickly after that. There were so many things I wanted on the menu. The server suggested the crab claws over bbq for the appetizer. I also ordered a side salad and croissant. Not realizing the side salad came with a croissant, I was still glad I ordered because they were sooooo good. I settled on the steak, loaded baked potato, and broccoli although I sent the broccoli back and got corn instead. The corn was great! Our party arrived at 5:45 with a reservation. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. Our server, David, was funny and attentive. We ordered prime rib and chopped steak. These each came with a choice of Caesar or house salad and a side. One of us cannot eat salad and requested a sub for a side. Sadly, the restaurant cannot accommodate that request. This is unfortunate because the price points are comparable. The salads were tasty, especially the house salad with a warm bacon and honey mustard combo dressing and a honey butter croissant. The entrees were nice-sized portions, and the roasted carrots were a hit as a side. The only unfortunate thing was that the prime rib and chopped steak were prepared a level under what was requested (rare instead of medium rare on the chopped steak with a pretty charred exterior). Great food, great service and they always have been very timely in honoring our reservation - no long wait at the bar. It is busy so I do suggest a reservation. Diana "manager" started our evening off on the wrong foot. We called hours ahead of our reservation, requesting our favorite waiter (David) and a booth. Rather than saying that they would try to accommodate us, she said they were simply too busy. Once we were there with our friends, we were seated. David was not our waiter, and we did not have a booth. The meal was fantastic as always, and what keeps us coming back. Unfortunately, Diana approached our table moments after we paid our bills and were involved in a discussion only to let us know that our time was up and it was time for us to leave because the table was only slated for 1.5 hours (which we had just exceeded) and they were busy. As far as we could see, there were maybe 2-3 other parties waiting for a table, and we were shocked to say the least at her request. 45 years we lived in Atlanta, we've never been asked to give up our table and leave a restaurant. We're in the foodservice/hospitality business and this was the worst hospitality we've ever encountered. Where do I even start? Immediately "greeted" with the unfriendly Diana. We made a reservation at least a month ago for Valentines Day. She told the sweet hostess where to take us, and like last year she took us up to the little tables by the bathroom and right next to the side door where people come in and out to pick up take out. It's drafty, loud and smells from the bathroom. We took the hit last year but when taken again this year we told the hostess we weren't sitting there again. This is for a 5:45 reservation (we were a couple minutes late which I apologized for upon checking in with Diana.) When we got back down to the hostess stand and she was told of the issue immediately the chopping hand and hair flipping began "Well, we don't have anything else available and you were late." Okay we were a couple minutes late but not over five and we were agreeable to having to go to the bar or wait a few minutes to be reseated (there were other available tables and booths) When we arrive on time or earlier we usually are asked to wait a little bit. We don't care but Diana didn't offer that. After seeing I was seeing red she offered a table in the bar area which we gladly accepted. Now, I've been going to Joey D's multiple times a year and have never been treated so rudely at any restaurant much less Joey D's my Dunwoody staple. I sat and watched her the rest of the night continually be rude to people and continued with a scowl on her face the whole night. No smiles. No warm greetings. Nothing. Just pretentious attitude. I did speak with Kaylee the manager on duty I guess. She listened then when she spoke she informed us that Diana had been an employee of the company for 10 years and cared about the customers then proceeded to give me her resume with the company. I think the last restaurant she mentioned was California Dreaming. Definitely not the same caliber. Kaylee offered a gift card or another drink from the bar which I declined. This was our first time at Joey's (for my son's 28th birthday). I made our reservation in Open Table and when I went to the hosts stand, we were seated immediately. We all got steaks, and they were delicious! Literally cooked to perfection. The baked potatoes were also delicious. If you're a fan of creamed corn, get it! My sons loved the lemon pepper wings. We also got the onion rings, and they were loved by the whole table. The drinks were well made! They have huge ice cube, and as an extra ice person, I appreciated this lol!
