    Chilaquiles and an Aperol spritz
    Kate P.

I went with a small group for brunch and we had a great time! Service was pleasant and very attentive and I loved my food--I got the chilaquiles. At first glance I thought the portions was small, but it was incredibly filling and included both chicken and egg (some places make you pick one or the other, which I don't like). My companions ordered the shrimp and grits and the chicken and waffles, both of which looked amazing and they were very happy with. I am planning to return to try both :) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lovely Christmas decor, too![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Used to love eating here. Good southern food. Biscuits the size of your head at brunch....the old gentleman who used to walk the dining room would pack me an extra one for home after brunches. After covid, have not visited until recently for quick late lunch. The salad which used to be great was pathetic and sad. Hoping it was an off day or something. Will give them another try for lunch. But I have loved this place for brunch, lunch and dinner visits. The bread basket is delicious, the rolls are divine and food is honest good cooking. N[[HIGHLIGHT]]ice patio for dogs too. [[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]Staff has always been kind and professional. The kitchen does make good food and I used to totally recommend for southern food in this area. I heard there was an ownership change so maybe that is why it was different on the last visit? The picture is the menu from Sept. 9th visit during lunch so probably accurate. Will try again for lunch. Update- scallops salad is awesome. Like Maggiano's salad with scallops and so much better. I usually hate "fancy" limp salads...I like the trashy salads- romaine& iceberg. Crunchy fresh. But this salad works. The limp baby arugula (maybe) works in this. Scallops seared and cooked correctly. No need for shake of salt or black pepper really. Great salad!! Rolls- I take back. The Parker house rolls are not worth it and they no longer serve the cute muffins of corn and bran I think. Those were so good. The rolls are what I consider a rip-off. Not worth it. Fish and chips....i personally did not like but others may. Crust falls completely off, cornmeal crust...lazy way to get "crispy" crust. It is ok but I did not enjoy and would not recommend personally. Cole slaw is what you think of when you envision cafeteria coleslaw---but not soggy since better "elevated" cuts of veggies. No flavor. Don't waste calories or $. Overall- still good place for lunch. Service is mixed. Weird wait at hostess stand at noon with servers looking back but not greeting. Lag in wait for drinks. But staff is always nice.

Came here on a Sunday for brunch. I came with a group of 7 people and a dog. We chose to come here as they provided outdoor seating and after talking with the hostess she joined 2 tables together to accommodate us. While we waited for our waiter, someone comes and tells us that we have to sit seperately and they needed for us to sit like that for people to walk through. This was annoying as there really wasn't anyone there at the patio and they not only made us put that table together, they made US move it apart as well. However, our server was amazing. He really was so kind and got us treats for the dog. The food was okay, I felt it was quite salty. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately not

This is one of the best restaurants in the Atlanta area. The food here is always cooked to order with fresh ingredients. Any dish you order is a great choice. There are several people on the wait staff making for a quality experience. Any server you get rest assured that you're in good hands. The environment itself is clean and well run. The chef and owner is closely engaged with how the restaurant functions at a high level. I've been going here for years as my parents are locals and we've never had a bad meal or experience. I recommend Southern Bistro with the utmost confidence

My salad was great! The portion size was just fine. And the dressing was on the lighter side which i enjoyed since steak was a heavy option.

I finally made it to Southern Bistro! This local Bistro is the best of feeling like a comfortable, local gem for anyone with the addition of truly delicious food and good service. I went for dinner and enjoyed the bread rolls and fried green tomatoes to start. Yum! The bread was warm and yeasty and green tomatoes came with goat cheese and delicious toppings. For dinner I enjoyed the duck and sweet potato gratin(so rich) and my date had steak frites. We finished our plates. The weekends in particular get busy so you'll want to make a reservation. The parking lot has ample space! Prices are great for the quality.

Great service and great quality food I ordered the buttermilk biscuit breakfast and the food was so beautifully made. I also enjoyed their selection of hot loose tea. It was a really great place to enjoy brunch and great plates as well.

Saw that this restaurant had high ratings, so I came here for brunch on Sunday but it didn't live up to the hype. I made a reservation online beforehand. I got to try a couple of dishes - the Egg Benedict, Egg White Omelet, and Breakfast Biscuit. The breakfast biscuit was huge but unfortunately really dry. The egg Benedict was a little salty. Although food was okay, service was great. The waitress was super nice and would come check up on us frequently. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere since we sat indoors.

While I know many come for the food, I personally make the 25-minute drive for one thing: the Sweet Potato Cheesecake. Or at least, I used to. Lately, it seems like something has changed in the process. The cheesecake hasn't been setting properly, and the cream cheese isn't fully blended into the sweet potato, leaving noticeable chunks. The flavor, once rich and decadent, has also diminished, making me question if it's still worth the trip. That said, I've heard the rest of the food is still solid, so if you're craving Southern comfort food, it may still be worth checking out. But for me, unless the cheesecake returns to its former glory, I might have to sit this one out.

I decided to have a tapas-style dinner with food from The Works and just had to grab some chicken from Delilah's. The menu is plentiful without being overwhelming, except when it comes to picking a favorite between the flavorful options. I knew that I didn't want or need a full meal and opted for their 3 whole wing option that came paired with cornbread. The young man who took my order was so polite and patient, as there were a few folks in line and waiting for previously placed orders. He let me know that my order would be ready in about 15 minutes so I took the time to continue my food-finding journey around the market. When I returned later, I had lost track of time and figured I'd just poke my head around their stall to see if my chicken was ready. It wasn't at that moment but I took some time to observe the process. There was only one guy in the open kitchen and prep area creating all of the meals and he was on the move. If I could add smells to my review, this one would smell like fried chicken and cornbread. It was all so fresh! When my order was ready, I only made one other stop before heading to my car to go home to my family... but not before I tested those whole wings from Delilah's. When I say that they were fresh out of the grease? Babehhh. It's like he just threw them right into the basket only seconds before. It was sooo crunchy, so juicy, just a fantastic wing. The hot sauce was a nice pairing but some spice in the breading/meat would have taken it over the top but this chicken was delicious. No notes.

Very eggy texture and not much cheese taste. Everything else was nothing to write home about. The fried chicken was good but only like a step above Safeway's fried chicken. I don't even know what to say about the fries and cornbread. Water was like $3. Located in a food court and kinda pricey. Even the parking wasn't free despite having tons of open spots.

Attentive, but not bothersome. I ordered the special ~ four succulent shrimp on top of salmon on top of mashed potatoes, blanketed with a rich, creamy and tasty sauce, accompanied by steamed asparagus. It was a pretty plate. It was a delicious meal! In fact, I forgot to take a photo. However, I was mostly done when felt a slim bone at the back of my throat and, while discreetly trying to get rid of it, Christian, the manager must have noticed something strange about me because, although he and the staff were hustling around, busy working, he inquired about my well being. I explained the situation as best I could while fishing for the bone with my tongue. The bone is now lodged near the back of my throat. After a few minutes I managed to remove it. I stopped eating the salmon in favor of the dessert that was included with the meal ~ lava cake!!! Before leaving, I ordered their delicious broccoli cauliflower casserole and some rotisserie chicken for later. When I saw the bill my mouth was agape. I asked, "What happened?" The manager, Christian, took it upon himself to remove the meal from my bill. That's the way you treat a customer! I didn't ask for that and I didn't expect that to happen, however, I was pleasantly surprised! I'm definitely going to revisit this establishment again!!

Unfortunately, our excitement quickly faded before we were even seated. When I walked into the restaurant, I was completely ignored by a young blonde employee named Claudia who was standing behind the counter in the waiting area. She looked directly at me and continued what she was doing without so much as a greeting or an acknowledgment. A simple, "Good morning, someone will be right with you," would have gone a long way. Since no one else was in the lobby and I noticed a clipboard on the counter, I politely asked if there was a waitlist. Claudia responded with an attitude that she "wasn't the hostess." I calmly asked where the hostess was, and she simply replied that she was clearing tables. There was no offer to help, no explanation of the process, and no attempt to assist me. She continued interacting with other staff members while I stood there feeling like an inconvenience. Thankfully, another employee who appeared to be a waiter noticed me. He immediately picked up the same clipboard that had been sitting on the counter, took my name and phone number with a cheerful attitude, and let me know it would be about a 15-minute wait. His professionalism completely contrasted with the poor customer service I had just experienced. Once seated, our waiter was personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was also very good. I ordered the Chicken Sausage Scramble with hash browns, and it was delicious. My friend ordered the Catfish and Grits and thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. The food and our waiter helped redeem the experience, but first impressions matter. Management should ensure that every employee understands that providing basic courtesy and hospitality is everyone's responsibility, not just the hostess's. Even if greeting guests or managing the waitlist wasn't Claudia's primary role, there was no excuse for being dismissive or rude to someone walking through your front door. Alpharetta has no shortage of excellent brunch spots with both great food and outstanding customer service. Sadly, because of the way I was treated before I was even seated, I won't be returning to The Southern Porch. I also won't feel comfortable recommending it to friends or family. It's disappointing because the kitchen and our waiter did their jobs well, but one employee's attitude overshadowed what could have been an otherwise enjoyable brunch.
