I really enjoyed my lunch at Mamma's tacos. As a gluten sensitive person this restaurant was ideal. There was tons of choices and the menu was labeled really well. This place is definitely open (or 'reopened' I should say)! I was just there the week of 4.28.26. Only corn taco shells and no flour 'anything' unless you order a burrito. Very small menu and a little on the higher priced side when you consider it's basically appetizers and what I would call 'small plates.' They need to have an order & pick-up spot (clearly marked) at the counter. You don't know what to do when you walk in. No one seats you and nothing is clear. read more

We had a variety of tacos, nachos, soup, chips & guac, an empanada, and a taco salad. Everything was absolutely delicious, so fresh and flavorful. Everyone working there was so nice and helpful. We had never been there before, so we had many questions. They were so patient. At one point, "Momma" came out to talk to us. (I wish that I remembered her name. Ugh!) She was so kind and genuinely concerned that everything was perfect. The restaurant itself was very clean and well decorated. With large windows, there is plenty of natural light. The various songs playing in the background made us feel like we'd been transported to Mexico City, Momma's hometown. You have to do yourself a favor and make a trip here asap. read more

Located right off the green in New Milford. Parking on both sides of the street. It is small inside with lots of great decor. The staff is very friendly. Lots of great choices made fresh right in the kitchen. The order took a little longer than expected, but it was a Saturday night and they were busy. They have takeout, dining, outside dining, and work with Uber and other vendors for delivery. The items were cheaper than I thought they would be. We got a few things to try. We tried the pork and beef empanadas. The beef was better than the pork. Both were cooked great. They were crispy in the middle, but soft on the end. I've had many empanadas where they are too hard to eat the ends. Not here. We got a steak quesadilla which was great. Sour cream, fresh guacamole, and pico de Gallo on the side. We also got chorizo and enchiladas. The chorizo and sauce was very good. However, it was not rolled and a little hard to cut through. Probably will not order that again. Overall great experience. Will definitely be coming back to try the Mexican street corn and nachos. read more

Ordered take out food from this restaurant, and my dining party was very impressed with the quality and flavors of all the dishes. Portions were generous but not overly so. Packaging was biodegradable for the most part. When I picked up the food, I wished I had eaten in the restaurant. The ambiance was so warm bright and inviting. I ordered a plate of 4 chicken tacos, a side of rice, a side of chips, sour cream and soda. I asked could they substitute the pico de gallo for salsa? Only at an extra cost. Since there were absolutely no prices visible, I was told my total was shockingly $32. Everything I ordered was a charge, and at a higher rate than expected. The chicken tacos were average, the rice was tasteless, the sauce had a smokey flavor which I personally did not like. The homemade chips were great so later that day while at a farmer's market I purchased corn salsa which was a huge improvement. The service was friendly. I was driving thru, and stopped here based on some good reviews. Maybe I hit them on a bad day, but this was totally underwhelming. Just went with straight tacos, Al Pastor. Got 3 very lightly filled taco's. Small amount of cubed meat. Taste ok, but really nothing special. I thought it was totally hysterical that she gave me the buzzer thing, telling me it would go off when my food was ready! The place is like 100 sq ft with 4 tables and I was the only one there. Wow! What an unexpected treat! We went there yesterday on a recommendation from my sister in law as we were passing through the area. She said "you may even get to meet Momma!" Not only did we meet this gracious, warm, kind woman, but we enjoyed a delicious lunch. My nachos supreme with chicken, his chicken tacos, and my college aged son's torta (delicious warm pressed sandwich) were all fantastic. Momma came out to say hello and we requested spicy sauce and she whipped up a green sauce on the spot for us which was indeed extra spicy but also somehow perfect and I would buy it by the bottle if that were an option. First time here during my lunch break. I ordered the veggie quesadillas, with beans. It was absolutely delicious! It came with pico de gayo, sour cream, and red&green sauce. The red sauce was my favorite. Even without the sauces, the beans were flavorful, along with the veggies. There was a line upon my arrival but it went by quickly. I loved the decor for Christmas! Came today for lunch as we were in the area. Love authentic Mexican but this was just average. She had a burrito, it was good but falling apart, not wrapped tight like usual. I had taco dorado - they were out of beef so had to get chicken. Menu said pulled chicken and it wasn't pulled chicken, it was plain strips of chicken rolled into a taco. 2 little strips, no flavor no spice nothing. The pico was fresh and had a good taste. Empanada was good but again not a lot of flavor. This place is an hour from home so I won't be back and even if I'm in the area I probably wouldn't go back. Flavor just not there. If you live in the area it's probably the only authentic Mexican around so u have no choice. read more

This place is a MUST try! I moved to New Milford from Los Angeles last year and have been disappointed time after time with the "Mexican" food in Connecticut and New York. Last week I was told that there was a new taco spot opening in town... My first thought was "oh please" with my eyes rolling so far behind my head . On a whim I decided to give it a try..not really expecting much. Holy S***t..was I blown away. It literally brought tears to my eyes. After the first bite of my carne asada burrito I was immediately whisked back to warm, sunny southern California. Alejandra the owner/chef is so sweet! (and from Mexico city btw no wonder the tacos are so bomb) she said all of her recipes are her own and that she had a secret spicy salsa that is off the menu for her patrons that like spicy ! I poured them all over my carne asada (grilled steak) and pollo asado (grilled chicken) tacos and boy was it spicy! Like my grandma's salsa. The al pastor quesadilla was to die for! The food here is delicious and authentic. The first place I've had here that gets carne asada correct..perfectly flavored..not too salty, but tastes like more than just grilled beef. Al pastor was fabulous! The hint of pineapple and balance of spices was beautiful please eat here and spread the word! This place needs to have lines around the corner ..people need to drive from all over the northeast to get a taste of how Mexican food is supposed to be done ! read more

Delicious, authentic food that is reasonably priced. Momma's Tacos is a welcome addition to downtown New Milford. Everything I have eaten so far has been great. My favorite menu item are the huaraches. The tacos are delicious and I love all the meat options. My only gripe is that the tacos are only sold in sets of three. If I'm still hungry, I can't just order another taco, I have to order three more. Would greatly appreciate an option for single tacos! Other than that, Momma's Tacos is great and I hope they're here to stay. read more
