First of all Gala who runs the office is a pleasure to work with. The hygienist whose name I forgot (sorry!) was extremely thorough yet gentle and genuinely interested in my concerns. Dr Brassell himself is very personable and tolerant of my questions after doing my "research" aka googling bridges vs implant. And the first dentist in a long time who didn't immediately pressure me to sign up for treatment. I live in Decatur and it was a little drive but well worth it! Think I found my new dentist.

Warning: Unexpected $1,017 bill after being told visit was covered…read more I visited Conyers Smiles Dentistry as a new patient for what I was told was a routine exam. When I arrived, staff confirmed my Cigna insurance had been verified and my visit was covered. I paid a copay and thought nothing of it. Weeks later I received an Explanation of Benefits showing I owe $1,017 out of pocket for a Cone Beam CT Scan, multiple Oral/Facial Imaging procedures, and Saliva Testing. None of these were explained to me before, during, or after my appointment. No treatment plan was shown to me. No cost estimate was provided. I was never told any of this was being done. My insurance denied all of it. Cigna flagged the saliva test as "not a dental service" and the CT scan as simply not covered neither of which are standard for a new patient checkup. I am now formally disputing these charges with the practice, Smile Generation corporate, and the Georgia Board of Dentistry. I would caution anyone especially new patients to ask for a written cost estimate and treatment plan BEFORE allowing any procedures to be performed here.
