    Veggie omelet
    Hollie S.

We arrived around lunch time, and it wasn't too crowded. There is both a seating area and a bigger, fancier, dining room. Atmosphere: John and Elain's Restaurant reminds me of an old dive seafood restaurant. It has plastic fish, and photos plastered all over a wooden wall. It's cute, and a fun stop, but it's not a big, metallic shiny diner you would picture.  The dining room appeared to be fancy. Coffee: I liked the coffee, but I needed more. I felt as though I had to beg the waitress for refills. Other then that, it was fine. Nothing of note. Food: The menu at John and Elaine's is much smaller than the average diner menu. In fact, for breakfast and lunch, it's only a single page front and back.  I decided to order the veggie omelet with a cup of the split pea (I can never say no to split pea). The split pea was ham based and was good. It was hot, which I can always use. The omelet was somewhat overcooked. It was visible from the hashbrowns and toast, that were both burned.  The food was good, and minus the overcooking, it was fine.  The omelet had a mixed medley of vegetables which included mushrooms and tomatoes, plus a lot of cheese.  Both the hashbrowns and toast were overcooked and somewhat burnt, so they weren't my favorite.  Service: The waitress was nice but appeared if she was having a rough day. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it didn't seem like she was thrilled to be there.  Our food came out quickly, and other than that, it was good. Overall Thoughts/Would I Come Back? I liked John and Elaine's, and it was a good stop for breakfast. It wasn't my least or favorite, and somewhere right in the middle.

Delicious fluffy eggs! The Bennie - with sausage patties.

What an absolute treasure! John and Elaine's is a cozy, local fixture serving breakfast & lunch for over thirty years. It has a warm, family-oriented atmosphere with kitschy signs boasting world's best pancakes, famous eggs benedict and country style breakfasts. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast here this morning! Our waitress was kind and attentive. Our food came out in record time, yet cooked to perfection. I opted for the "famous" Eggs Benedict (The Bennie - with sausage patties) and hubs ordered a sampler with French Toast, scrambled eggs, and bacon. Both orders were served with the most delicious side of potatoes! A true testament to their sign: Our home fries are not deep fried. They are grilled. We cleared our plates within minutes! DON'T FORGET TO BRING CASH! ATM on premises but cash-only restaurant!

A gem! A quaint little diner with friendly and fast service. Their french toast is incredible as are their omelettes and hashbrowns! Cash only, but there is an ATM in the lobby with a sign that says they'll refund you the $2 atm fee if you ask! Definitely worth a visit !

We were really impressed by the location. The Food shack is located right on the beach which is the perfect way to enjoy a lunch on a Summer day in Point Pleasant. They have lots of umbrellaed outdoor seating, and some benches in the sun, so there are options for everyone. They also have some indoor seating, and the inside is adorable. We ordered a swiss grilled cheese with tomato on top, and a BLT. Each item came with pickles and a bag of chips. Each item was priced reasonably, especially considering typical Jersey Shore pricing. My grilled cheese was great. The bread/cheese/tomato ratio was perfect. The cheese was gooey, and stayed gooey even as the sandwich cooled. The bread on the grilled cheese was crispy on the outside and still soft and warm on the inside. I didn't know what to expect from a small shack on the beach, especially with something as simple as a grilled cheese, but I really enjoyed it. The BLT also had a gread tomato/bacon/lettuce/mayo ratio and wasn't too greasy. Overall I will definitely be coming back!

I got pork roll, grape tomatoes, broccoli, and American cheese in my omelet. Sure, this was the third day in a row I had pork roll, but I was in New Jersey, so I was required to by several state and local statutes. Service was good - the waitress was friendly and answered all of our questions easily. I almost gave her a pop-quiz just to see how much she knew, but I figured she works hard enough as it is...doesn't need some jerk from out of town making her job harder. I'll leave that to the people from NJ. The food was delicious - the omelet was as expected for the most part. However, the pork roll was not pieces of slices but rather thick chunks, which was awesome! Before I left another wait staff person approached us. He asked me if I enjoyed listening to ska music, based on the way I was dressed. We were amused. Charming little place on a corner. Has good food, decent prices, and friendly staff. I ordered a simple breakfast; eggs over easy, sausage and home fries. I also opted for hasbrown on the side (extra). It took a while for the food to come out and I will say, another member of our party ordered the omelette with French fries on the side, and the amount of fries they gave could've been more generous. The omelette took up the entire plate so they only scattered a few fries on the remaining space, rather than putting it on a new plate.

We were greeted right away from a friendly welcoming man and were seated right away. I had the birria taco and barbacoa taco - barbacoa taco was the best one. So flavorful and filling. The birria taco tried its best but if you want something authentic it's definitely not here for the birria taco. The broth was more tomato base than what it's supposed to be and the taco itself was a bit more tougher than the authentic Mexican dish. My son enjoyed his burger but didn't care for the fries or cheese sauce on the side he ordered. My fiancé didn't care for his skirt steak sandwich too much, as it was difficult to chew. My dad's Baked Brie Burger was delicious--the fig jam paired perfectly with it, and the waffle fries were fried to perfection. I ordered the Mr. Beautiful Burger, which tasted great at first. Unfortunately, I felt VERY sick almost immediately after eating. I can't say for certain what caused it, but since my dad didn't try my burger and felt fine after his meal, I suspect mine may not have been cooked properly.
