The lady in the office was helpful and explained all of the flavors and sizes they offered. We bought 4 of the smaller cheesecakes so we could have a variety to try. Our choices included: rocky road, NY with chocolate on top, key lime and lemon. All were tasty but my favorite was the rocky road, so chocolatey! This is my go-to cheesecake spot--and my friends love it just as much! They offer a great variety of flavors and sizes, from deluxe assortments with multiple flavors to mini bite-sized cheesecakes (a box of assorted minis is just $25). They also sell larger individual cheesecakes for around $3-5 each. We've tried several flavors, but my favorite so far is the ricotta cheesecake. I even brought a blueberry cheesecake to a friend's party and it was a huge hit--everyone loved it! Their full-size cheesecakes are very reasonably priced, around $9-11 each. I don't know what kept me from coming to John and Jill's sooner. I used to work at a bakery that sold their cheesecakes, but never been to their location in Novato until recently. My mom wanted a cheesecake for her Birthday and she mentioned the Cheesecake Factory. I wanted to get her a better quality cheesecake and I thought of John and Jill's, which I have been meaning to check out for quite some time. I stopped by with my boyfriend to see what flavors they offer. We were greeted by Jill and she showed us the two freezers with their cheesecakes. The first freezer has "perfects," a variety of cheesecakes with four different flavors. Each box has a different mix of flavors. There are also "talls" which are 92oz cheesecakes. All of the cheesecakes except for the small sizes are pre-sliced. The other freezer has what they call "seconds." The cheesecakes have minor imperfections and are marked down even more than their already great prices. There are all different sizes including Johnny's that are bite size cheesecakes, 6oz Jewels, and 6" and 8" cheesecakes. On our first visit, we took home a seconds matcha cheesecake for only $6! What a steal!! It was full of matcha flavor. When I came to pick up the Dulce de Leche cheesecake (60oz for $20) for my moms Birthday, we also took home a few Jewels to give as gifts for our family. Their two freezers are constantly being changed out so you'll find something different every visit. John and Jill's is not a bakery so they don't provide any kind of writing on their cheesecakes. One of my friends purchased me a cheesecake from this location and holy crap it was delicious. I've honestly never heard of this place before and didn't know what to expect. The cheesecake I had was a combination of 4 flavors: 1. New York: I honestly thought this flavor was the best. Basic cheesecake with no other flavors diluting the natural flavor of how a cheesecake is supposed to taste. The cake is very rich and creamy yet not super heavy and dense. It's very flavorful and you can really taste the natural texture of the cheesecake and the end crust which I love. 2. Cherry Almond: My second favorite flavor. Almond flavor is very good and the cherry jam on top isn't too sweet and overpowering which a lot of cheaper cheesecakes have. Great balance. 3. Pumpkin: Great pumpkin flavor. Not a huge pumpkin fan but if you like pumpkin then give it a try! 4. Italian Ricotta: Really good! I liked the rich ricotta flavor. Each day is a brand new day, you never know what it will bring! This 4th visit to John and Jill's Cheescake Warehouse factory where everything is handmade and then shipped out to restaurants both local and internationally, as I was told when I first came here. It's basically a small store front office with two freezers to your right. And a big desk in front of you. Normally workers in the back and when they here the front door bell rings, then they will come out. I get totally get giddy and excited when I start to open the 2nd rejected cheesecakes freezer lid because I will have no idea what treasure I will find inside!! As the lid opens today! I see so many flavors, I thought I died and gone to heaven! They had mini bite sized cheesecakes for a tray of $14. There was one brownie tray! Who knew they made brownies?! That would be great for a party! I saw a normal Size turtle and New York cheesecake for under $10 each! I saw a boxed sampler with 4 flavors inside which I bought had the NY cheesecake, mint chocolate, cookies and cream chocolate and strawberry swirl! Sorry I forgot the price because I bought the sampler and 3 jewels which is a personal size cheesecake that fits in the palm of your hand with the flavors key lime, turtle and rocky road! :-) So bring cash with you to pay for them. Guess how much it cost me?? Drum roll...$19.50!! Can anyone say Bargain bin!!?? The way to my loving heart is a cheesecake! I can't wait to eat one!! I'm going to be honest with you guys. I don't really like cheesecake. However, my family loves it and they have bought John and Jill's since I was a kid. You go to the offices and they have a big freezer in the front where you can buy their 'seconds'. They are great, maybe they have a crack but usually they look great. Their prices are insane. You can buy a personal size mini one for $1.50, and small/medium for like $6/7, and a large for maybe $8? Somewhere in there. It's a crazy deal. A lot of the cheesecakes don't have crusts which makes me sad bc that's usually what I like best. However, I recently tried their green tea one and I would come back for that. The pumpkin one is beloved by those who like pumpkin pie and cheesecake (my family, I like neither so it is lost on me). They have a new york that is pretty good, and the key lime is a family fave as well. If you like cheesecake you should absolutely give them a try (cash or check only!). While I don't appreciate cheesecake in and of itself, I love being able to support a local company (they are open during covid - one person in at a time and they take the cheesecakes out for you) and being able to make the people I love a little happier by bringing it home to them. :) read more

I just hosted my first Cha Cha Cha party - cheese, charcuterie, chocolate, champagne - to enjoy my favorite foods and celebrate my b-day with a small circle of friends. Each guest brought her favorite cheese and my mom and I provided the rest. Everyone enjoyed them, but my family most of all (for several days), because at the party we all got so full on cheese (and a fruit pie my friend had made) that we only had tastes of the cheesecake! Since my Cha Cha Cha theme came off so well, I am thinking about hosting another one around Valentine's Day for Marin Foodies...and if I don't make it myself, I would definitely get more cheesecake from J&J. I'd like to try their larger "perfect" kind that's taller and comes in more flavors (like key lime), including an assortment in one box (chocolate raspberry sounds especially good). Now I'm no experts on cheese cake but it sure taste good here and I have had average tasting cheese cakes before. They are not all the same unless one thinks chocolate chip cookies are all the same. They offer many variety and flavors. Perfect and 2nd with the same quality goodness, just not in look. Mini and slices sell for 1.50 which is up by .50 for quite awhile now but still much cheaper than buying comparable size at a bakery, even those at supermarkets like Safeway that generally sells them for 2.99 and up per slice and do not taste as good. It's located in an office building at the business area of town. Private parking for two vehicles but one can park on the street. It's generally not busy so it's not a problem. This is not a bakery, it is a commercial cheesecake operation. So, don't expect a fancy storefront. They supply restaurants in Ca, Japan, and the US military. Along with an occasional world leader. This is not fluffy, light cheesecake. They have seconds for sale, the ones that have a crack in the cake as it baked etc. Tastes the same for next to nothing compared to $6 a slice in a restaurant. You might think that you have entered some mundane office space, but know that the real goodies lie in the ice chests on the wall to the right. Flip them open and prepare to be bedazzled by an array of cheesecakes. They come in a variety of sizes depending on your needs, but I have found a happy size and price ($1.50) in their Jewel line. These are about the size of a hockey puck except taller, and are perfect for sharing or getting you to the point of comfortably full. They only accept cash though, so come prepared with some greens. I love their Key Lime and Lemon Biscotti flavors. Both are gently topped with their respective lime and lemon curds and sit on a thin layer of graham cracker crust or lemon cookie crust. The flavors are subtle, not overpowering, while allowing the slight tang of the sour cream to come through. The cake is a delightful velvety, creamy texture, cuts cleanly and didn't crack.
