On 1/05/2016 I was driving my 2012 Chrysler 200, I was in a accident where I was not at fault, the driver of the other vehicle hit me on the driver side, his vehicle did damage to both my front and back door on the driver side. I took my car to John Hinderer Honda on this day and got a estimate, The initial estimate called for them to only need to replace both doors and a rim. I dropped my car off at that time. The estimate was for a 7 day repair On 1/13/2016 the body shop called me and told me my car was ready, once I stepped outside to inspect my car I noticed a dent it my front bumper that was not there the day I dropped my car off and had pictures to prove it was not there, I also noticed that the driver side passenger handle was damaged, it appeared that someone used a razor blade and slit it right down the middle, I brought both issues to the attention of the body shop manager, he agreed at that time that he would have the damages fixed, he also told me that his tech admitted to causing the dent in the front bumper. On 1/18/2015 The body shop called me and told me my car was ready to be picked up so I went there and was inspecting my car, I opened the driver side door and shut it and heard a rattle, so I opened the passenger back door and immediately noticed the bracket that holds the door closed was loose, that is a safety hazard, The back passenger door also had a rattle to it when it was closed, so I brought this to the attention of the body shop manager he said would have it fixed and call me when my car was ready, he also admitted that the tech did not apply something that goes inside the doors to keep them from rattling. On 1/18/2015 I spoke with the body shop manager about compensation for all the trouble and damages they have caused my car, he offered a FREE full inside and outside detail, and 3 FREE oil changes which I agreed to under the circumstances that nothing more would be wrong with my car. On 1/26/2016, The body shop called me to tell me my car was ready, upon arrival I immediately inspected my car and noticed when they detailed my car they caused damage to my leather seat, on the driver passenger side, Once again I have pictures to prove that damage was not there. I immediately went to the body shop manager and he said please let me fix that for you, I told him neither he, nor his shop will ever touch my car again, they have done enough damage already. I also told him I do not want his oil changes or detail that he originally offered. I went on this same day to get a estimate from a outside company to get my leather seat repaired, the estimate was for $375.89. On 1/27/2016 I went to John Hinderer Honda and spoke with service manager Fred Culver to discuss payment for the estimate for damaged to my seat and he asked me what I would like for them to do to fix this issue, I replied $500.00 will be sufficient, that will cover the cost of the repair plus a additional 124.11 for myself for my time, travel, gas, and stress. I feel this was a fair amount to request and to no avail they denied my request but made a final offer to fix my seat, and nothing more! Now I am sure anyone can understand the reason I do not want them to touch my car again, every time they do work to my car it is returned with new damage, so far it has been a never ending story read more

Do NOT consider John Hinderer Dealership ever! Purchased a vehicle and it had to be delivered to us 2 hours away a couple days later. When the vehicle got here and the salesman left we went to get into the car and found that the entire driver side front fender trim was gone and the driver side day time running light was out. We contact the salesman immediately approximately 10 minutes later making him still in town, and he refused to come back to the car to look at it. We called the dealership directly and they accused us of damaging the vehicle immediately after he left. Again we had not moved the vehicle because we noticed this before we even sat in the car. They argued with us for several days when we were finally contacted by Mr. Hinderer and he said to bring it up to the dealership (2 hours away) and they would do the repairs and bring it back to us. Once they returned it the daytime running light was still out and we contacted them immediately about that and they said we are responsible for that. We took it to a local Dodge dealership to have it replaced and the certified Dodge dealership found that there is approximately $2500 in damage to the vehicle including bad wiring to the light and the front bumper was GLUED on!!!! All of this preexisting on the car they did NOT acknowledge or take responsibility for and directly blame the customer. Called leaving a message with the dealership with no return call. They do not stand behind their vehicles they just lie to their customers. read more

I took my 2018 CR-V here for diagnostic work because the vehicle was having all kinds of issues and wouldn't go over 35. They told me that the wiring harness had gone bad and it would be over $2000 to fix it. I paid them the $130 diagnostic fee and took my car back, because something didn't add up. I took it to a local independent shop who suggested I take it to Lindsay Honda and have them look at it. It turned out to be a completely different issue in a turbine sensor needing replaced. Lindsey Honda repaired this item at no charge to me. When I told the John Hinderer Honda about this and asked for my money back, the guy laughed at me and told me the other dealer likely just put a band aid on it and laughed it off. I had never had much luck with Hinderer Honda in the past and only took my car there this time because it was in limp mode and didn't want to go to Columbus. However in the future, I'll pay the tow bill because Hinderer Honda has no problem taking your $130 without remorse and keeping it. read more

About 2 weeks had passed since purchasing the car and I really was very satisfied with the car and the experience at that point. Then I went to leave work one day and the car would not start! Dead Battery. Not covered under 90 day warranty. $100! Okay so their rigorous 125 point inspection my not have been so rigorous. Whatever just chalk it up to life happens and go on. Still pretty satisfied with the overall experience just with a bad taste. Another 2 weeks or so go by and I'm out running errands and the car starts dinging and going crazy: engine overheated. Seriously! At this point I am completely convinced that John Hinderer Honda's Gold Check Certification is a total joke. And nothing more than a wash was done to my car. I have serius doubts if it was ever Detailed at all, let alone a second time as I was told when I purchased it. I Immediately called the dealership to speak with the salesperson. Explained the issue and asked if it can be towed back to the dealership. 25 miles is quite a way with an overheating engine. I didn't want to do any damage. I was told no. Sorry bout your luck. Limp it in the best you can and we will look at it. Well it just happened to be that the next day was Christmas eve. So here I am on Christmas eve trying to get my car back to the dealership to get repaired. I had to pull over 4 separate times to allow the car to cool down before continuing my journey. This is exactly how I wanted to start my holiday! After arriving to the dealership my vehicle was taken back and looked at. I asked that the brakes be checked as well because I had noticed some grinding noises. After about and hour and half wait I was told that nothing could be found wrong with the vehicle. The technician could not get the car to duplicate my complaint. I was utterly astonished that this man had the nerve to look me in the eye and tell me that nothing was wrong with my car. He actually said to me, and I quote "Its not that we just don't want to do the work on it because it under warranty. We really cant get it to overheat". Could not get it to overheat! I didn't believe it and I was determined to prove him wrong. The car had been overheating for 2 days! Every time I tried to drive it! So after I was given the vehicle back I drove around Heath for about an hour wasting at least a 1⁄4 tank of gas and my time. I was not about to get half way home and have to come right back for an overheated engine! But to my amazement, no. Nothing! The temperature gauge didn't budge a smidgen from its normal range. I was convinced something had to have been done to the car. How else did it go from overheating to just, not!? Turns out at least one thing was for sure done. The brakes were checked. I know this because two days after Christmas I found one of my lugnuts lying in my driveway from the technician failing to tighten it correctly. On what I thought was a completely unrelated issue I had been having an extremely hard time with the windows inside the car fogging up. I had tried every possible setting with the defrost, air and heat settings and nothing seemed to work. It had gotten so bad that I would have to ride with the windows down to be able to see! I joined a Buick owners forum to try and get help with a solution. Among lots of other ideas I was told to check for any dampness or wetness inside the car. In the floorboards or the truck area. Eureka! There was a small puddle of what appeared to be water in the driver floorboard. After further inspection I realized that it was radiator fluid! Turns out after discussing this further with my forum friends that the heater core is most likly busted and leaking radiator fluid into my car. Which is in turn causing the fogging issue! So looking back on it I realize that when I initially took the car in to be serviced for overheating that the reason the technician could not duplicate the complaint was because they filled up the coolant before the test. With the amount of coolant that they had to have put into the car the technician should have realized that there was an underlying issue for that much fluid to have leaked out. And the service writer who stated to me " Its not that we just don't want to do the work on it because it under warranty. We really cant get it to overheat" was probably right on the money. Whether it was because it was the holidays and the mechanics didn't want to do the work or because it was under warranty I feel that there was no attention paid to my vechile. It was not properly serviced either before or after the purchase. If you don't want to work on cars other than Hondas then don't sell em. John Hinderer Honda really dropped the ball on this one. And to top off the cake with an enormous helping of icing . . . . . the limited warranty that came with the vechile does not cover this particular part. And the dealership will not fix the car. I went here a couple weeks ago looking at a couple of used Civics. I worked with their internet sales manager. He should not be managing in my opinion. He told me NOTHING about the car that I didn't already know then insulted me by telling me the trade-in value on my 2010 Cobalt was $6000 (I had my car appraised at two places prior for between $8000-$9000). Then after my initial no, they came back and offered me $8000 and said my car "needed tires". Tires do not cost $2000! I was so insulted I left before I caused a scene. Lousy people who only care about you enough to bump up their numbers. John Hinderer Honda will never earn my business and this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I took in my 2005 Honda Civic, which was purchased at another local Honda dealership for an oil change after my normal shop kept raising their prices. The oil changes were very reasonable $27.99 for an oil change that included full synthetic oil which is recommended by Honda, and also comes with a bumper to bumper check of the entire vehicle. They gave me a print out of this service and there was not much that they did not check. In doing the check they discovered a recall for the drivers air bag and a defective seat belt buckle that was covered by lifetime warranty. They scheduled a phone call when the airbag came in to them. On that particular day they called me (a Friday) they called me to set up an appointment and were able to get me in the very next day (Saturday) which was very convenient. I waited in the waiting area which has free wifi, cable, and soft drinks. I was surprised that the actual mechanic came back to inform me of how everything was going. They found there to be another brand of airbag in the car so no action was required there, but they did fix the seat belt buckle for free, no charge. They then drove my vehicle though the car wash, it came out spotless. All in all very happy with the level of service i received, Very polite, courteous and timely service. Between both appointments I had maybe an hour and a half wait time, not bad at all. read more

I recently took my 2016 Acura TLX into Hinderer Honda thinking they could do warranty work. I told them I felt a vibration from the right rear tire between 70-80mph. They asked if they could take it out to I-70 so they could legally take it above 70mph and I said that was fine. They instead decided to put it up on the rack, test drive it to 80mph, but spiking it at 120mph (even though the service manual says not to take it above 40mph). This caused the drive shaft to explode, severely damaging the catalytic converter and exhaust system, along with several flash shields and brake lines. When they called to tell me what was going on, they simply said the drive shaft was broken and it needed to go to Acura for warranty work. They then told me I needed to arrange and pay for towing and that I would owe them a diagnostic fee. It wasn't until the car got to Acura that we learned the truth. Acura called us asking if we had hit anything as there was severe damage to the underside and broken parts in the trunk. They then called Honda who admitted to them what had happened. Acura obviously opted not to cover it under warranty, but we still wanted them to do the work with Honda reimbursing them since Honda had not only destroyed my car but lied to us. Honda refused to let Acura do the work and told us it was because it would cost them more money that way. We finally got fed up and told them to just fix it. After my husband had a bad experience with one of the service advisors on the phone, we were assured by the General Manager that we would only be dealing with the GM and the Assistant Service Manager from there on out. This also ended up not being true as the GM redirected us to the same rude service advisor several times afterwards. After asking what they could do to make the whole situation better since they had so royally screwed up, they had the gall to put me in a base model CRV (no power seats, nothing) in exchange for my fully-loaded TLX. I was without my car for an entire week while they lied and tried to pawn this off on Acura and then it took another week for them to actually order the parts and get it fixed. The car seems fine now, but I'll be taking it in to Acura to verify that they actually fixed everything and did it properly. I will never go back to Hinderer Honda again, not because they severely damaged my car (things happen, people are human, etc.), but because they repeatedly lied to me and proved time and again that they were only looking out for their bottom line and to hell with the customer. read more

I took my 2007 Honda Accord in for service last week and dealt with Fred Culver and Jeremy Cowdery. They both provided excellent service, and even performed a free multi-point inspection. They replaced a headlight bulb for just the cost of the bulb, no labor charge... It's not like an auto dealerships service department gives away labor, this exceeded my expectations. Fred informed me of a few small service items I will need in the near future and they even cleaned my car! Great job to this recent President Award winning Honda dealer. read more

My daughter recently leased a new Honda Fit from John Hinderer. A couple of days after the lease was signed, she received a call stating there needed to be some changes made to the lease deal, resulting in a higher payment. Needless to say, she was broken-hearted. We went in today to see what could be done so that she could keep the car that she has already come to absolutely love. Todd Toomey, sales manager, and Jim Brown, finance manager, were more than happy to sit down with us. The dealership was extremely busy, but these two gentlemen went above and beyond, bending over backwards to keep my daughter happy. I cannot say enough positive things about this dealership, and especially Todd and Jim. The professionalism and personability exhibited by these two gentlemen were exemplary in all aspects of the deal. Needless to say, we will be lifelong customers of this dealership, even though we only live 5 minutes away from a closer Honda dealership. John Hinderer Honda and the staff are well worth the drive from Reynoldsburg. read more

My experience at John Hinder Honda In Heath, was one of the worst experiences I've ever had!! First problem started with the car salesman ( Miguel) had a few problems with the car! (One car door didn't open from inside and also gave me a spare key that didn't even work for the car)! So called in and left messages! For three weeks I waited to hear back! When I called In to see why I haven't heard back my salesman was no longer working there! So then talked to John Derbin the general manager about my issues, he then said he could help with my issues and now it's been weeks with out hearing from him! Don't recommend going!!! Horrible Experience! Bought a 2017 LandRover, which you would think would be close to being at the top of the more higher end vehicles....however, they sold it to us with a Parking Brake sensor on. No biggy, so they said. They let us drive it off the lot (with our daughter in the vehicle). After speaking with LandRover (2 weeks later), they informed us that the vehicle should NOT be driven as the brakes could give out at any time. And the brakes had been "tampered with", their words. LandRover also stated this vehicle should have never been sold, nor off their (John Hinderer Honda) lot with out this being taken care of first. Putting our family in danger, what does the "great people at John Hinderer Honda" do?? Nothing. They had LandRover fix the light and that's it. Nothing for us, no extended warranty, nothing. So after having our vehicle for 3 weeks, we MAY get it back, if they don't decide to drive it to yet another LandRover dealership to have the problem fixed. That's right, they took it to LandRover in Dublin, and didn't like that dealership calling us and discussing issues with us, so they decide to drive it to Dayton, adding more miles to a vehicle that already had high mileage on it. Not happy with this experience and will NOT recommend this dealership to any of our friends or family members. read more

Don't bother wasting your time with this dealership. I drove 2 hours to look at a specific vehicle and was told I couldn't even test drive unless I was ready to purchase that day. The vehicle was having body work done due to their own detailers screwing up the paint. I was told if I had additional cars to look at, to come back when I was sure their car was the one I wanted to purchase and THEN they'd let me test drive. Oh, they also mentioned that their internet prices are "pretty much their best price" so don't bother trying to negotiate if the price listed isn't what you want to pay. I had a wonderful buying experience years ago from this dealership, but after the way I was treated on my last visit, I will not be back. 40 days after purchasing my car here, I was greeted by an ever-present Check Engine warning light. A $107 diagnosis fee turned into almost $1000 of repair parts and labor. Less than 80 miles later, the light returned, so I can only conclude that the diagnosis was an uneducated guess and that I had been soaked for a significant amount of time and money. It is clear to me that this groups takes little pride in their servicing of what I had hoped to become: a repeat customer. The only remaining question in my mind is will JH Honda do the right thing and correctly diagnose what - if anything - is causing the engine light to deploy without requesting a second fee for something they did incorrectly three times now. read more

Took my Honda Civic there for several outstanding recalls and to have a minor issue fixed. Service rep called telling me car was ready. I arranged to pick it up the following day. When I arrived, he informed me that a part had not come in and that I could bring the car back the next day. Why tell me the car was ready when it was not. He said the air-bags would not work until the part was installed. Really unacceptable. Given the other bad reviews I've read, I guess I should not be surprised. Columbus isn't too far to drive for good service: Next time I certainly will do that rather than waste my time with this dealership. read more

Buyer Beware!! I was contacted by the dealership wanting to buy my 2015 Honda for their pre-owned inventory. The sales guy told me they were being very aggressive in their trade in offers because they wanted to build up their pre-owned inventory. I went in and the offer made to me was anything but aggressive. They offered me below KBB value (even though they claim to be a KBB approved dealer) and over less than 5k what I still owed. We decided to treat the deal as a lease turn in since I was two months away from my lease expiration date. I asked the very specific question about the remaining payments and charges for overage on mileage and was told in no uncertain terms, it would be taken care of by the dealership. I have leased several cars before (4 of which from John Hinderer) and have never had an issue turning in a few months early despite being over on mileage on a few as well. Three weeks after leasing a new car; I get a letter from Honda Financial saying that I owe the remaining lease payments and mileage. When I contacted Hinderer, they basically said sorry about your luck and you owe it as that was never part of the deal. Typical sales bait & switch! So now I'm stuck with payments on a car I no longer have as well as payments on a new car. I have purchased 5 cars from John Hinderer and have never had an issue till now. What is most disappointing is that they are willing to lose a good customer over $2000 and more importantly, over something they said they would do. read more

I purchased a carfax gold check certified vehicle and when handed the keys the one key didn't work the door locks and they told me to take to a vw dealer cost me 110 they wouldn't pay, This was ridiculous that they wouldn't fix. i also purchased the extended warranty which i told them what i wanted it to cover only to find out that three months in it doesn't cover anything. I have tried to contact to discuss canceling the warranty which the warranty company told me i can do at a prorated cost but cant get calls back or communication. They fail to follow through and call back, i would never recommend buying a used car from this company and i will never purchase anything thing from them or the powerstore. I had a honda atv with a recall and there service department never would call back to schedule the service because i purchased from another honda dealer. It shouldn't matter where it came from it was a honda recall. Seems to be the way all of the john hinder organization works. read more
