I went to this office on Dec 20th for a cleaning. I had a filling done previously and thought the…read morework was excellent (5 . it was my 1st cleaning with them and the women that did the pictures and scans explained it all like I was 10. After the pictures, she displayed the teeth and pointed out 3 possibly 4 teeth that had some deep pockets. I have had this before and a normal cleaning resolved it. in this case I was told I needed a "deep cleaning" with numbing and it needed 2 visits. I was told my share was $500+ (total was $1000+)). Also, there were 4 follow-up visits at $81 that my ins. would not cover. I asked if I could just get a regular cleaning and was told no. Then she explained in another example of me being 10 that they knew best and if I was not interested in my health there was nothing they could do. I admit to being inappropriate with my frustration as I left but I felt like I was bait and switched. Never told that this expensive procedure was a possibility. Finally, today I received a letter telling me that this office could no longer provide dental care. Just a tale to point out that asking questions in an office that needs to pay for all the toys would be prudent.

I require some major dental work and new it; but started as new client with numerous x-rays (far more than ever remembering elsewhere), numerous photographs, teeth cleaning by Tiffany whom is about the most wonderful person one could ever meet and receive care from - then the exact same from Dr. Taormina. I was then made aware of my options for future care without pressure. EVERYONE there was wonderful. Time to leave: I was thanked by several employees for my combat service as a Veteran and told I was done. Done, as in $0 fee! I am a grown man but couldn't hide a tear or two. I had the BEST encounter and THEY thanked me!?!?!?! I would recommend these compassionate professionals / "people" to anyone, in fact everyone! P.S. I have never made a post but felt compelled to.

Call 1: Approximately 11am - I am immediately asked if I would like to hold. Sure, no problem, I'll hold. 10 minutes pass without a single "we'll be right with you". I hang up. I am now irritated. Call 2: Approximately 2pm the same day. The phone is answered by a woman who talks to me for about 15 seconds, and then puts me on hold. 11 minutes and 33 seconds pass. I hang up. I am now pissed and decide to Yelp my lovely experience. Dear Dr. Hamel, You may be a lovely dentist, but you need to teach your staff how to handle phone calls. But today me and my lovely wife were very impressed with Dr. Hamel's office. Just go...you will not regret it. I have been to a few dentist in the Poconos, and not one tops Dr. Hamel and her staff. I was greeted by a very professional and friendly receptionist named Maureen. Shortly after I was called to the back by Dental Hygienist (Mindy) who took my x-rays and did a cleaning. I have been to many dentist in my life, I have to tell you Mindy is an artist with her hands and dental tools. I have to also mention another Dental Hygienist (Sandy) that took care of my wife. Both Sandy and Mindy were true professionals and are very good with their tools. Dr. Hamel..so gentle and honest. Integrity and trust is paramount when choosing a dentist. She examined me, addressed all my concerns and explained a needed procedure very well. Make an appointment and see for yourself. I only have on MAJOR complaint - not going to this dentist before today. I have lived very near to the Doctors office and it took me 10 years to get into the office (my fault). She was nasty and disrespectful and laughed as she apologized when I told her she was rude. This place was recommended to me by a family member who also said the front desk person was rude but everyone else was pleasant in the facility. Not a place that I want to spend my money AT ALL. Their loss. They need to get rid of the person who answers the phones and greets people.
