Ordered onion rings for an appetizer. Reading the menu I couldn't find brisket anywhere. Not on the nachos, one two or three meat plates, or sandwiches. All I ever get is brisket and sausage. Finally found the brisket. It's in small print under each item for an upcharge of anywhere between $5 and $10. For example the sandwich is $19. They are happy to sell you the cheaper meats at a premium but if you want brisket you have to pay even more. If we wouldn't have already ordered onion rings we would have left. Son ordered a burger and I ordered fries. Ate almost all onion rings and one was raw and still had powder on the inside. Fries were good, son's burger was good, but we can get burgers anywhere. I did bring the onion ring issue to the waitresses attention just so she could let the kitchen know. When she brought the bill, they had taken the onion rings off. I did not ask them to do that, but they did it anyway.

My usual strategy: fly in early, stop here, order the big meat platter, eat about half of it, go lift, and then finish the rest on the drive to site. Balanced lifestyle, right? Last visit I had turkey, brisket, sausage, and ribs, and every one of them brought something to the table. Great smoke, great flavor, and plenty of sauce options if that's your thing. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was easygoing, and it had that comfortable, family-run barbecue feel that you hope for when you walk into a place like this. If I'm anywhere near the area again, this will definitely be one of my stops. Hard to beat good barbecue that fits perfectly into the travel-and-gym routine.

The six different BBQ sauces, house made fry sauce (delish ranch style!) AND the artisan crafted hot sauces (hot Cheetos-dill pickle and green collards - to name two of the several) only begin to cover the experience of partaking in the indulgence of eating here. The menu features tender meats, made from scratch/ grandma staple sides, Colorado-sourced sodas (clear black-cherry soda-YUM!) and homemade pie-shakes (pecan and cookie pies!). Plus a bar with some specialized micro-brews, seltzers and ciders. Clean, chill, urbane ambiance.

The…read moregreat: the fried green tomatoes were very good and there's a decent draft beer selection on the menu. I had the burnt ends and the smoked turkey, along with the texas chili. The whole thing came with fries. The fries were good and standard fare. The bartender was attentive and friendly; she chatted with us a bit and seemed to be enjoying her day. The ambience missed the mark a little bit. Perhaps it was our timing, but it seemed really quiet, even though there were big screens with the football game, which for some reason, we couldn't hear. Every once in a while we'd hear a news cast or something playing on a different station. It seemed like all the other folks in the bar knew each other, which was fine. Then something went sideways with the sound system and it was dead silent in the place for quite a while, which struck us as odd. The barbecued stuff was good and the sauce selection was very good but something just seemed to be missing from the experience. I'd rate it a 3.4 if I was allowed to do fractions here on Yelp.
