The cooks take care to execute every component of the simple menu perfectly: the green tomatoes po boy had chilled fresh tomato and lettuce, pickled onions, in very light hot battered fried green tomatoes with a super fresh roll with a crispy crust but soft interior. The catfish is outstanding, the best we have had anywhere (including New Orleans where our daughter lives)...plentiful super light hot battered strips of fresh fish with an excellent home made slightly vinegary Cole slaw and green chile hush puppies and fries. Homemade tarter sauce and seafood sauce. The fried shrimp was similarly very light and dusted with a slightly spicy powder, really unique and tasty. 3 of us shared the shrimp tacos and an order of fried green tomatoes to start (super bowl Sunday at Zuni Brewing). Tender and perfectly cooked shrimp, delicious with the slaw/pickled onions/remoulade sauce. My family made me wait 30min before ordering more food to spread it out... went with the shrimp plate. Again- perfectly cooked fresh fried shrimp were delicious. Add in the jalapeño hush puppies, the sweet slaw, the Cajun fries and dipping sauces- totally nailed it, I got a lot of credit from my family for my choices, lol. Deja Roux is FIRE!! Flavorful Cajun food made with passion and love. We ordered the shrimp po'boy sandwich, fried green tomatoes, hush puppies, jalapeño coins and Cajun fries. Sandwich was delicious and they didn't skimp on the shrimp. (Thank you!) However, what was better than the shrimp was Jen's homemade remoulade sauce. Don't be afraid it drizzle it all over your sandwich and dip in between every bite! Also, make sure you save some of the sauce for your side dishes. Wife enjoyed the fried green tomatoes. Big juicy cuts of tomato, breaded and deep fried. What more can you ask for? The cherry on top for me was the jalapeño coins. A simple dish but yet packed with flavor! Concerning the service, everything was great. We received a phone call when our order was ready for pick up. Presentation is very important to me and I have to save they did a fantastic job. Extra packaging to keep everything warm and fresh. To top it off, Jen and her precious family staff went the extra mile to pack my toppings in a separate container so my sandwich was kept warm, crispy and fresh. Yum! We went to Cerebral Brewing just to check this truck out and it was amazing!! The staff was so sweet and the food was incredible! Sad that one of the workers at the food truck went out of his way to yell at our table because they asked for forks to eat their meal (from another restaurant that didn't provide them) in a public area. 4 of us already bought food from their truck and didn't think it would be an issue to get an extra fork from them for our friends. :( read more

I was very annoyed by the hour wait it took to get my food (in disclosure, I'm not sure how prepped they were for a weekday night). My annoyance had me WANTING to dislike the food and be done with them. THEN... I tried the Shrimp Po'boy and the Seafood Gumbo. I wanted to stay mad... but OMG... it was amazing. The Po'boy looked like a mess (the best ones always do) and the flavors were amazing. They packed the bread and fried shrimp separately that the toppings so it all stayed fresh and the flavors didn't blend too much before eating it. The only issue I had was fitting my mouth around it to take a bite. It turned out huge! The gumbo was just as good. They had enough decent sized shrimp in it to make it a good value and an incredibly strong flavor base with great seasonings built off and wonderful roux base. The fish bits mixed in gave it a wonderful seafood flavor without overpowering the 'gumbo' base. I actually had to remove a good sized bay leaf which, while it may sound annoying to do, told me they made this with care. The whole thing was amazingly flavorful. I'd wait that hour again in a heartbeat. Though something tells me they are typically better prepared and I just caught them on an off night. Still... I'd prefer they don't change the recipes if it's a time trade off. Hard to find this quality off a good truck. Can't wait till next time. read more

This food truck is legit authentic deep southern food. The father-daughter duo were some of the nicest people I have ever met, and I can tell that their passion is in the food. Sure, the food is good. But they also pre-sell food to designated times and then serve it two hours late without apology or explanation. We were excited to get to get crawfish before having other obligations in the evening, and 3:00pm quickly turned to 5:00. I was at the Copper Kettle Brewery recently and got food from the Deja Roux food truck. I wasn't happy with anything and it was so expensive. My friend got the Shrimp Po Boy. It was 80% bread. Hushpuppies...not the best. I got something in a bowl that was all brown and just terrible. It was cooked so long it just looked like mush. I couldn't make out the ingredients in it and there was barely anything in the bowl for around $15. I would never eat at this food truck again. Unless you are a fan of brown food, take your money and go somewhere else. Worst food truck I've ever eaten at. read more

Had the Mississippi cat fish platter and was blown away. The catfish was hot, fresh, had perfect amount of breading, and not too greasy. The sauce is amazing, the fries were crisp. I also got the fried jalapeños which went perfect with my catfish; just the right amount of heat. My platter also came with coleslaw. Let me tell you, I NEVER eat coleslaw, but this was different. This is it, the real thing. Their Gulf Shrimp is the sweetest I've had outside of Texas and Louisiana, cooked perfectly. The gumbo in season is amazing. The sides are spicy and good -- fried jalapeno rings, spicy fries, okra. Even the white rice is seasoned with the right amount of salt. If you see this truck, chase it down! read more
