Once again JVA Movers came thru for us once again on May 22 on time like they did for our first go round on May 4th. This time they moved all we had in our barn and a few other items in our house left from the last move. Since we had a 6000 sq ft home and a huge barn too it took two moves over time. The second move only took three guys and one truck not like first move 6 guys and 2 trucks and two trips to finish the house move. The move on the 22 went great and we had two of our original movers back.. Landon and Garrett were great as they were the first move. Scott was the lead guy and all three were such gentlemen and so helpful.. I can't say enough of this moving company and believe me I had other moving companies over the last 20 years and by far they're the best. Not one item damaged or no Scrapes or damage to either homes as they moved heavy furniture etc. I did notice one review From a lady that only gave a 2 star.. my comment and remedy to people that are concerned about their furniture or priceless antiques etc is to buy the insurance they offer. I have a 1926 original beautiful mahogany formal dining room set that is in mint condition so I opted to buy the insurance for full replacement costs if it was damaged in any way because of the china cabinet having rounded beveled glass and also an 8 foot side board and extending table with 6 chairs. They padded it and used great caution and care moving it and it was perfect on delivery. So I think has the lady had replacement insurance her couch that was ripped would have been fixed completely or replaced.. obviously she did not buy the insurance of any amount and only went with what the minimum coverage is.. lesson learned I hope.. We are extremely pleased with the way we were served by Academy Movers last week. Jordan came by ten days before our anticipated move date to see what all we needed to move while we were still early in our packing and still uncertain about what all we would moving temporarily to storage. He then estimated it would take four hours and cost $408. We felt that was reasonable and accepted that. On the day of our move Nathan called us 30 minutes before our appointed start time to confirm our being ready and then he, Devon and Matt arrived promptly as promised. They worked quickly but carefully in removing our furniture and cartons and placing them carefully in their truck. They obviously had done this sort of thing many many times before because they worked as a coordinated team without a lot of extra conversation or chatter. When they arrived at our storage unit I expected that it would be necessary to rent an additional unit for all that we had, but I was assured that they could fit it all into the 10 x 15 unit I already had. They then shifter boxes I already had placed there so that there was room for more, and then filled the unit with the rest of our things with room to spare. From the time they arrived until they finished was only two hours. However it was not the time we felt we were paying for, but the way the move was done and we believe we got our money's worth! My husband and I contacted many different movers through Yelp and decided to go with Academy. We could not be more satisfied with this choice! All three gentlemen that were involved with our move were extremely professional ,on time, and took very good care of all of our items. We were quoted about 6 hours to move all of our boxes, breakdown large furniture(beds,dresser),and then move everything into our new house and put back together all the furniture. Said and done they ended up being about 20 minutes past our 6 hour time quote.All of our items were neatly and carefully placed into their 30ft truck which was completely full . Not one thing was broken or damaged in the entire process. They made sure after placing a large piece( like a bed or dresser) to ask us if we were happy with the way it was positioned. If we asked them to move something somewhere else they gladly did it. I found this to be very courteous of them and showed they most certainly care about what they do. Pricing was fair and explaination of how pricing worked was given in a simple and direct way. I contacted Academy Movers, located in Kent, after a friend related their superb experience using the company. I only had to move a few boxes and an electrical bed. However, the distance was from Skagit Valley to Kent. Quite a long drive. Carter was very prompt at returning my call. He also gave me an estimate that was $500 less than an equivalent mover. On the scheduled move day, the Academy Movers team called me BEFORE they were on the freeway to my home. They arrived exactly on time. The team was exceptionally considerate of my requests and were totally focused on getting my few things into their truck. They even managed to arrive at my storage unit 15 minutes before me. Their work was performed with client consideration, complete professionalism, and a willingness to even rearrange a portion of my storage unit to accommodate the bed and a few more storage boxes. We hired JVA when we moved from our apartment into a three story house with lots of stairs. And in the middle of a pandemic last year, during the worst of the smoky summer. I felt so bad for them working hard in these conditions but the guys were rockstars. There were three of them and they lifted all the heavy items and maneuvered all the stairs while making it look easy. They took great care with everything, nothing was damaged and they put everything exactly where we indicated. They were quick but not in a careless way, and they worked tirelessly, rarely stopping to have some water or a snack despite my constant offering. Their prices were very reasonable compared to other places I'd called. They even hauled down a heavy console left upstairs by the previous owners and put it into the garage for us with no extra charge. They were very mindful of not opening the door to the room where my cats were, and always asked if where they were putting things was okay. I hope not to be moving again anytime soon but if I do, I'll be calling JVA again for sure. read more

It went awesome! From quote, booking, confirmation to move day everything was smooth as could be. They were set to show up around noon and I knew they had a move beforehand and it may be a tight turnaround to be to me at noon. I received a call in the morning from them to give me a more accurate timeframe and they let me know they would be later than anticipated. I was so appreciative they let me know and didn't just come late. A++ for communication the fact they were pro-active gave me an opportunity to get some other tasks done and I spent zero time waiting around. It is not always fun to let a client know that you are behind schedule on a move. This was also something they let me know could be a possibility when booking. It worked out wonderful. Three man crew they we fast, friendly and were happy to help relocate a few heavy items on the move in. No hidden costs and a very fair rate for three people. I have nothing but praise for Academy Movers. The young men Dave, Erik and Damian were polite and professional. They worked hard and did not stop working until the job was done. After everything was moved into my tiny apartment without asking these polite young men put the antique head and foot board on the bed frame. They asked if there was anything else they might assist with. I was so impressed with the young men. I am so grateful there is a program out there to give young men such as I met a second chance. I am a senior citizen and wanted to have them over for a home cooked meal. They felt like my adult grandchildren. You can not imagine what great service and care we had in our recent move about 10 days ago. The team did a 3-4 hours of packing for us on Monday and the move was on Wednesday. It went fantastically!! One person took over our packing and the actual move named Brice. It was a complicated move in that we went from a house to a four story building which involved an elevator with a long hike to that elevator. It was as smooth as butter and all 3 movers had nothing but a positive attitude the entire 10 hour day. Even on top of all this they removed a one hour of hourly fees because they were delayed in traffic that morning and insisted that was not my fault so they would not charge for it. Also they did a "Dump" run at end of the day for us again at a reasonable price. I can not tell you how tiring it is to move but these guys from John Volken Movers made it a great experience for us and the charges were super reasonable. I highly recommend them!! read more

Academy Movers was one of my best experiences with Professional Movers. I've used three different companies. I was working with a very specific timeframe due to my work schedule and only had four days to find a company. They accommodated, were great on their pricing, arrived on time, moved items out of my third floor apartment, loaded, arrived at my new ground floor apartment promptly, unloaded efficiently, and finished before their estimated time. There was no damage to my items or to either apartment. They took special care of my rather large TV and artwork. They followed directions and the only guidance they needed was what to grab and where to put items in the new place. The Moving Crew was personable, friendly, and professional. Academy Movers are fantastic! They are timely, great communicators, ensure you completely understand the logistics (contracts, insurance, etc) and answer all questions you may have. My personal experience was over the top amazing. The guys who moved my upright piano, which is over 600lbs, had a great attitude the whole time, were very cautious and strategized the best way to get my upright up 6 steep stairs with little wiggle room for turning down hallway and into the main room once at the top of stairs. I would recommend Academy Movers anytime and to anyone who wants professional, reliable, trustworthy, hard working guys that are committed to making sure the job is done correctly and with excellence. These guys moved me in April and I am just now having the opportunity to rate. I have had several bad experiences with movers. Furniture destroyed, unprofessionalism, and disregard for property. I have had to ask family to assist and this time I was working with a quick turn around and no one could help. The John Volken Academy Movers saved me!!! They set the bar in service, quick, professional, caring and really paid attention to what I needed. My girlfriend recommended as she used them the week before me and asked me to give them an additional tip because she was still thinking about how great they were. I did along with a 50% tip because I was just so happy they hooked me up during a horrible time in my life!!!!! We recently moved from our home in Kent up to Kingston, and we couldn't be happier with the moving experience. We went on-line to their web site and answered some basic questions regarding the move, and the Manager got back to us with a text that same evening to set up an appointment at our house. He showed up the next day, and gave a firm estimate of the cost which was much lower than we thought it would be. On the day of the move Spencer, Connor and Tristan showed up right on time, and were ready to get started. The young men were courteous and careful with everything, and we were packed up in no time! These folks were GREAT! From scheduling to the actual move, they kept us informed and up to date. We were doing an office move to another building. We had somethings that were going to move to the new office and some that were staying. For some of it, we weren't prepared but the folks at Academy Movers, it didn't matter. The guys that were doing the actual move were super awesome. They were kind, courteous, and communicative. Even when we didn't know what we were doing, they were patient and always helpful. We used JVA movers and they were excellent and I absolutely recommend them! From beginning to end they were all professional and courteous. We had a lot of stuff to move; heavy pieces and the guys did it with such can-do attitudes. They always communicated and asked where we wanted items and even went so far and above what we expected movers to complete such as making sure that when our washer and dryer was moved into the laundry room that it was installed and running perfectly for use right away and putting our grill outside and even setting up our garage how we wanted so we can be able to get to things quickly. I was able to hire these guys a week before my move, and they were so great! I shopped a lot of companies in the area, and their price beats everyone else hands down. They are licensed and insured (I checked), and your money goes to go a good place. Anyone that deals with moving knows it's not cheap (nor easy), so anywhere you can save helps. The coordination and communication with Jordan at the office was also great! Dave, Noah and Steven were my moving guys. They were all fabulous. On time, careful with my things, they were personable and so kind. And they were quick! My entire 1 bdrm home was loaded up in 2 hours. I'm a 62 yr old man with some serious health issues. I am used to doing for my self. I had to move a storage unit to a different one due to a rent increase. I called John Volken Academy movers. I talked to Clay who sent out a team to make the move. Connor, the driver kept in contact by phone till we met. Then Connor, Sean and Jamie jumped into moving my stuff fast and efficiently. I followed them to the new storage unit were they unloaded the truck effectively and put the stuff where and how I directed them. I was getting pretty tired and Jamie offered me some of their water! This company was fantastic and very accommodating..i had a last minute move of my things from one Budget truck to another and they were able to help me with only 2 hours notice. They worked quickly and professionally. I was very happy with the service. However, the very next day i further had an emergency which required me to reload my Budget truck once again. With this short notice they were able to get 3 movers to me again and to help me with my emergency unload and load. After having spent so much money for my move for the 3rd time in 4 days i asked for a discount. The manager didnt hesitate to help me out and give me a 15% discount. I really appreciated it.
