Stopped in for drinks and had a great time soaking in the amazing views--definitely one of the highlights of this spot. Whether you're sitting inside by the windows or out on the patio, the scenery alone makes it worth the visit. We came during happy hour (4-6 PM), which made the experience even better--great drink specials and a solid selection to choose from. The vibe was lively but relaxed, and while it does get pretty busy (especially during happy hour), the atmosphere still felt enjoyable, not overwhelming. Parking was surprisingly easy--plenty of spots, which is always a bonus. If you're looking for a great place to grab drinks with a view, this one should be on your list. Just get there a little early if you want a prime seat!

    The view!

Food and service were great--along with the beautiful river view! I had the crab and asparagus soup and the shrimp bowl. Considering moving here.

It sounds bold, and it is, but it works beautifully. The broth is rich and deeply savory, the cheese pull is perfect, and the crispy rings add a texture you never knew the classic was missing. The pork chop remains the star of the menu--huge, expertly seasoned, and cooked with precision. It's widely considered the best in the city, and honestly might be the best in the state. Juicy, tender, and full of flavor, it's the kind of entrée you end up recommending to friends for weeks. Their octopus is another standout, prepared with surprising delicacy. Tender, not chewy, with a perfect char that adds just the right amount of smokiness. It's balanced, refined, and one of the most memorable small plates you'll find locally. And don't leave without dessert--the crème brûlée is phenomenal. Silky smooth custard under a flawlessly torched sugar crust that cracks just right. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly. Between the inventive dishes and the warm atmosphere, The First Post remains a must-visit for anyone who loves great food done exceptionally well.

The setting is absolutely beautiful. Their outdoor terrace overlooks a scenic garden area that looks like it might even host weddings--it's that picturesque. The ambiance is peaceful, charming, and ideal for a relaxing weekend meal, whether you've just finished a bike ride or are simply looking for a quiet dining spot in Marietta. The menu had a lot of fresh, well-crafted options, and the cocktail list was fun and inventive. I tried the lavender lemon drop, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well the lavender complemented the classic citrusy flavor--an elegant twist on a traditional drink. For dinner, I went with the jalapeño cheddar burger, which was flavorful, juicy, and made with noticeably fresh ingredients. The fries were crisp and satisfying, while my mom and sister-in-law each opted for different sandwiches paired with house salads. They raved about the house-made vinaigrette, which had a fresh, tangy balance. We also started with the whipped feta dip and gouda mac and cheese--both were delicious. The feta was creamy and flavorful, and the mac had a rich, smoky bite to it. Our Entrees looked so delicious that I forgot to snap a photo beforehand. Service was excellent. Our waitress was knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus, and her suggestions were spot on. In terms of value, I was really impressed. With so many places these days serving tiny portions at high prices, Railroad House Inn stands out as a restaurant that delivers quality, fresh ingredients, and generous portions at a fair price. All in all, this was a five-star experience. Great food, beautiful location, warm service--I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area, especially after enjoying the nearby Northwest Lancaster County River Trail.

I'm a fan of standard PA Dutch Country fare, so my first question was, "Do you have scrapple?" And the answer was, "Yes, we do." Ok, off to a great start. Along with that I ordered Eggs over easy, Home Fries (not those frozen thingies) - but real potatoes browned on the griddle, coffee and a side dish of SOS (more commonly called Cream Chipped Beef or Dried Beef in gravy). The scrapple was good, save for the fact that it was dropped in the deep fryer (a common practice), but I would have preferred grilled. Eggs done to ooey gooey perfection, SOS loaded with nicely chopped pieces of salty paper-thin beef in a thick white gravy. Toast topped it all off and I was stuffed with a smile on my face. My wife ordered her regular fare of scrambled eggs (which came cooked very well; cooked through completely but remaining moist). In addition she ordered Hash Browns (these were slightly underdone and missing the crispy brown edges we like.) Finally she asked for crispy bacon and received 5 dandy slices. All in all a great start to any day...but I think I might need a nap first.

Then she said, "you know who does great tuna salad? It's a diner over in Columbia!" But she couldn't remember right there what it was called. I googled diners in Columbia and I read back to her she shouted , "Black Olive"!!!! I'm here with two friends but didn't order tuna as it's breakfast and so I ordered eggs Benedict with turkey sausage instead of the Canadian bacon, and lemon on the side since I love my hollandaise sauce tangy. I get my order but not as I requested. Canadian bacon is in there and turkey sausage on a side plate. The hollandaise sauce looks like melted cheddar and no lemon on the side. Worst of all I cut into the poached eggs and they're too hard. Well I was just too disappointed in their skill level to ask them to redo. Our amazing waitress was trying to talk me into ordering something else if I didn't want a redo. She had a manager come by and I told him what I ordered and how I got it. It was ok I didn't want to trouble anyone. He insisted they'd get it right so I gave in. A few minutes later he presents me with jiggly poached eggs on top of turkey sausage and wedges of lemon. I will say I was impressed the second time around, though the hollandaise sauce needs work! Here's a quick blender recipe Ingredients: 3 egg yolks, 1 tbsp lemon juice, pinch salt, 1/2 cup hot melted butter. No need to make it from powder. You "can" taste the difference! Over all very happy with the cleanliness, service, attention and will be back mid March for that tuna sandwich. Mmm can't wait!

The Stuffed Flounder - Nice large piece, however, sitting on three cups of bread stuffing. The 3 Scallops were broken and not completely broiled. The 3 Small Shimp - the same. The entrees came with 3 sides. I got the baked potato, Cole slaw and the crab bisque. I brought the food home - $41.00 worth, so I could dissect off the descent parts.
