Parked further up in the drive thru window because I had a passenger in the back paying, a worker came out out the door, hit my truck and chipped the paint, and didn't even fucking acknowledge that she did so, then went around to another door to avoid me. 1st time there and I couldn't help to notice all the dirty tables and some with wet seats. The place only had about 10 people so it wasn't crowded at all. My family and I used to come here often and i returned to visit for a week and stopped back by and it's just as amazing as I alway remembered. The cheese curds and the French fries steal the show! But everything is amazing. We got the gyro, some burgers and finished with ice cream and malts. Everything leaves you wanting more. I asked for a hotdog light on mustard. It came drowned in it. Our buns were stale and one bun was soggy wet (from the steam table?). Fries were browned like they were cooked several times but were soft and limp like they were sitting around awhile There was one person ahead of us but it took over ten minutes for our 3 dogs and one fry to come out. I am being generous in giving them 1 star. I went to the drive thru yesterday and ordered a hot dog and fries. I was going to get a drink but when I saw the large drink was well over $4. I said no way. The hot dog was OK but they dumped so much mustard and relish on it that it spilled all over me and my car. The fries: what can I say about the fries. I find myself going here at least once a week. There isn't anything that I've ordered that I haven't liked. My favorite is the gyro plate. They serve you plenty of meat and it comes with fries. I always have left overs. I all love their cheese fries? There is something about their fries that it's absolutely delicious and top them with cheese.... perfection! I've also had their cheese fries, their pork tenderloin sandwich and a cheeseburger. All were great but I keep going back for the gyros. I've never actually signed inside as I place my orders to go. The drive thru workers are always pleasant and I've never gotten my order wrong. It can be a bit slow but that's because they cook everything as you place the order. Check them out. read more

I'm rating it a 4 because of the cashier was so nice. They currently do not have the dining room open, which is fine but the drive thru line gets very long. Between waiting to order and receiving my order it was at least 45 minutes. I didn't mind waiting. My burger which was almost $7 was okay but lacked the toppings worth a $7 burger. See photo of lettuce. The burger tasted okay. I would recommend that this restuarant adds another menu board so that people can see the menu before getting up to the board. I couldn't access the menu online to see what to order before reaching the board. Otherwise I would probably try this restaurant again in the future. read more

Walking in caught my attention with the vintage atmosphere. Old classic model cars and trophies on the shelves, records , memories, and signs on the wall, everything from the 40's-70's. The classic ambiance was really great. We had great customer service. I have food allergies and they were able to show me the ingredients for everything including buns which is typically hard to get at restaurants. The food and ice cream was as good as a diner can get. If you are looking for another reason to come here, check out the constant classic car shows they put on almost weekly in the summer!! It is such a great family owned restaurant. Customer service goes a long way. When a customer asks a simple question and your staff gets snarky for no reason, it's time to consider a new line of work. The prices are unpleasant but the food was always decent until this visit. $14 for 2 orders of mozzarella sticks and they were over cooked. I think this place was too hyped up to me or something. We went on a weeknight, so it wasn't too busy, which was nice, and the staff was very friendly. The food though was "Meh". I had the gyros, which were just OK, nothing special. The fries were the same, just OK. This doesn't seem like a place you'd go out of the weay for, but for a quick, relatively inexpensive, hot meal it's a good local choice. read more

Imagine shutting off lights when you have four tables still inside at 8:58. I get half cooked fries which tasted terrible, and we were all very disappointed in how our food was that we had to go get food somewhere else. I get it, I work in food service too, but we NEVER shut half the lights and all the tv's and lock the doors when customers are eating. Highly highly dissatisfied. That being said, I dont Need that much ice cream but it was different than it used to be and I was a little disappointed because of how much you pay for it and now its less that you get. We used to frequent Johnny K's when we lived in the area, and have driven back recently a few times. This place is a bit with the kids. The service is a little slow, but this isn't McDonald's- they cook your food to order. It's worth the wait, too. The hot dogs are great. The fresh cut fries are also good. They offer a wide variety on their menu, including burgers. Last night I tried the loaded potato soup. It was delicious! Creamy, lots of potatoes, and just the right amount of cheese. Prices are reasonable, and they have a good ice cream selection, too. read more

The Hubby and I were out in Macomb, IL for the weekend and decided to drive home on Rte. 34 instead of the highway. We got hungry around Sandwich and went to Johnny Ks because besides that we saw a McDonalds and a Taco Bell/KFC combo. Johnny Ks was new. Or so we thought. It was just like the food we order when we feel like being lazy at home. Oh well, we'll give it a try. I got a burger. All of the toppings (cheese, bacon, mayo, ketchup and onions) were on the very middle of the burger making the entire outside dry and lacking flavor since the meat wasn't seasoned. Then there was so much in the middle it was squirting and dripping everywhere. My plain fries were okay. The Hubby got a couple hotdogs which he liked, and cheese fries which he did not. I can safely say that this was our last stop at Johnny Ks. Next time we make the drive we will stop elsewhere. Though one thing Johnny Ks had going for it is that it was open. Many of the restaurants we passed on our drive through rural IL were not open on Sundays. read more
