What a nice find this restaurant is. We were hungry and driving through Somonauk on our way to somewhere else. Impressed by the number of cars and trucks in the lot as we went by we turned around and gave the pancake house a chance. Middle of the day on a Monday this diner was packed. I see why. We got great service and perfectly cooked breakfasts. Good coffee too. It's pretty clear this local establishment gets their share of business. Five stars. read more

I had to drop my car off at the body shop in Sandwich and after a Yelp search, Somonauk Pancake House appeared on my radar. The current owners have been here for two and a half years, but this place has been a restaurant for many many many moons. They offer very affordable specials all day long. I really enjoyed their veggie omelette, as it was nice and fluffy and flavorful. There was only one server this Monday morning and Deb was working her butt off. I'm kind of thinking when I pick my car up I just may stop in for dinner. They have three large dining areas and are good for a party or large group. They don't have a website but they often put their daily specials on their Facebook page. read more

Went here and was very disappointed. Called in an order and it was 15-20 late. They had apparently forgotten our order that was called in for takeout. The outside and inside was not clean, and building was run down. The staff wasn't friendly, except for Trinity (she was very helpful). The bbq ribs were just baked ribs with bbq sauce poured over them. Also, the bbq sauce was SUPER SPICY and this was not disclosed on the menu. The "mashed" potatoes that came with the country fried steak was a baked potato that was smashed and turned upside down. Lastly, it is impossible to ever know what this place has available due to their being no website and their Facebook page being rarely updated. Sadly, I would not go back or recommend. read more

I came here for lunch for a large family get together. It's definitely got that local mom and pop shop vibe as many of the customers all knew each other since it was a small town. We already had a table and menus when we sat down. I figured it was a pancake house so why not order breakfast. I had a country omelette where I swapped out the American cheese for Cheddar. It came with the option of has browns, french fries or a fruit cup. I opted for hash browns. It also came with toast or pancakes and I decided to try the pancakes. Everything came out correctly and I really enjoyed it. It was a nice lunch. It was also very large portions. Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch and my omelette. Opens at 6 ....not. We have been there 3 weeks in a row and 3 weeks in a row The lights are all off. When you're waiting staff can't get there on time to open maybe you should consider some new wait staff. Ridiculous. read more

Everything was great. I ordered a meat lovers omelette with and it was slam packed with bacon, sausage, ham and cheese. My wife had an eggs Benedict and although of course it didn't compete with mine she said she liked it . Although they were busy the service was great and the wait time was short. I almost hid my wife's coffee cup because it was nearly empty and every waiter/waitress that came out of the kitchen would ask to top it off. Most excellent service. Beats having to ask for a refill but I was cracking up at how many times she has to say no thank you. read more

I always enjoyed this place until last Wednesday. My friend and I went for dinner, she order a Julian salad and I ordered the fried chicken special. Once our order was taken we didn't see our waitress until she brought the check!After waiting for over an hour for our food I had to get up and ask the manager why everyone who came in after us already had their dinners (fried chicken). She asked what we ordered and said well everyone is ordering chicken. Our food came out 5 minutes later, I cut into my chicken and it was pretty pink so I didn't eat it. Waitress finally came to bring check and I said please take the chicken off our bill that it wasn't cooked, she took it over to manager and I heard manager say" she just doesn't know what fresh chicken is". Got up to pay for the salad and gal at register said did you get your food? I answered we did but couldn't eat mine because it was pink and she said I wouldn't eat it either!
